BlastoEffect:  Call of the Enkindlers

I'd preorder right now if it was announced.

Being how we will be going to Earth, does this also mean that we will also be visiting the homeworlds of the other races, such as Palaven, Rannoch, Thessia and Kahje?  I'd also really like to see the female versions of the Turians, Krogans, Drells and so forth, because the galaxy won't seem as big and immersive without the variation and differences in gender being more involved.  The Raloi also seem like a cool new species that I'd like to meet and I'd like to go back to Tuchanka again and bring that varren named Urz onto the Normandy, as well as rejoin Wrex and Liara into the crew with Garrus, Tali, Thane, Grunt, Legion, Zaeed and the other characters from ME2 as well as new ones.  Thane's son Kolyat,  batarian, raloi or female drell and female turian squad mates as well maybe?

Also due to the fact that we will be going against a huge armada of Reapers, will we also be going to planets that were in Mass Effect 1 & 2 that may hold clues to defeating the Reapers and had some relevant importance to the plot but could not land on originally?
For example:

1. On ME1 on the planets Logan, Ploba, and Zayarter there are reports of odd structures that might range from        ruins, ships, weapons, supercomputers or a hiding alien race on them and ruins on Junthor bear an                        inscription that reads "Monsters from the id", cryptically hinting at the Reapers.  There is also ruins on the                planet Armeni of a space faring race that predates the protheans called the zeioph and there is this one other          planet, a gas giant, that's surrounded by moons carved to look like the faces of an alien race dating back half a      million years ago.  If those moons are prothean than it could be of interest.

2. On Klencory there is a volus named Kumun Shol who ,due to a strange vision, is searching for the "lost crypts     of beings of light" which, according to the description in ME1, were created at the dawn of time in order to                 protect organic life from the "machine devils" aka Reapers.

3. Jartar is where the living starship called the Leviathan of Dis was located, which brings me to wonder if the         Leviathan of Dis will be of any importance in ME3.  Besides, a gigantic 1 billion year old living starship could           come in handy against the Reapers.

4. The Prothean artifact that was on Eletania in ME1 and the Prothean orb found in the ME2 Firewalker pack might hold more information.
     :innocent:

Beings of light = reference/homage to Vorlons in TV sci-fi series Babylon 5

Leviathan of Dis = reference/homage to Leviathans in TV sci-fi series Farscape

I wouldn't put too much stock on either of those being central to the plot of ME3, but I suppose it's possible

Anything is possible, which is what makes this so much fun! Speculation fuels creativity, and I believe no idea should be cast down...unless it's extremely stupid, of course. Personally, I believe that the Hanar are going to play a big role in ME3. We didn't see much of them in ME2, and they were apparently "touched" by the Protheans (or possibly the Reapers, it's not entirely clear) just as were the Humans. I can't help but notice that Collector head shapes resemble Hanar bodies, and I also can't help but see a resemblance in the Hanar picture on the cover of Fornax to the common shape of a Reaper. It's just my crazy idea, and you can't say I'm wrong because we honestly don't know...yet.

But I digress. The trailer has me as excited as I was for ME2, and I expect nothing less than a great game from this group. Earth is finally going to be landable (we assume, again we don't know for sure, but the evidence is pretty heavy in favor of it). Whether or not it's the final staging ground for an epic battle, I'll be glad to save the motherland (or let it blow up, depending on my mood at the time).

2 million dead in the first day.

Another 7 million by the end of the first week.

every defense annilihated.

all our forces on the run.

regrouping. somewhere.

reports are coming in from other major cities.

its a well co-ordinated attack.

and so far its been damned affective.

dont know what they are, what they want, or where they came from.

only one thing is certain.

if shepard doesnt bring help soon.

there wont be an earth left to save.

*epic music*

*shepard goes to find miranda*

At the end of ME2 you can see the Reaper fleet emerging from the darkness of dark space. And you can see they are heading for the Milky Way. And you can clearly understand why they attack Earth, Throughout the ME2 Harbinger made several hints that they, the Reapers, are very interested in Humanity now. After we destroyed their Vanguard, Sovereign. So now they are heading for Earth.

They are attacking the whole Galaxy now. Not just Earth. They have probably made a full frontal attack on all fronts. The Turians, The Quarian fleet, the Krogan homeworld and every other race too.

They will probably release another trailer with maybe the Krogans or Turians being under attack by the Reapers.

Yeah, This seems like a fairly logical progression of events. End game sees Shepard defending the home world in an epic battle. But I don't see why they'd attack Earth right away. The logical thing to do would be to fight to the Citadel and shut down the Mass Relay system, then go forward with the galactic purge as planned.

Yeah I agree... followed by attacking Earth (presumably they see humanity as the greatest threat), followed by everyone else.  So here's hoping that we only deal with Earth near the beginning of the game, and that it only forms a small part of the focus of the game and that saving the galaxy is the overall focus.  I want to feel that the galaxy is at stake, and that Earth is just a small (not insignificant) part of that.  I don't want it to feel the other way round.

Mass Effect 3 can join my list of games that I need to buy for 2011, along with Gears of War 3, Portal 2, Bulletstorm, and Resistance 3. I hope we get to see Rannoch in ME3, and A MOTHERF--KING QUARIAN'S FACE!!!!

Mass effect 3 is about defending the earth? That's screwed up. So we don't get to destroy the Reaper fleet in ME3??? (there's nothing about that in the trailer) It should be about that! Fighting the Reaper fleet. Why do they use those puny robots when they have a fleet of huge epic wtfpwn machines? I seriously hope that the objective to defend the earth isn't going to overshadow the one to destroy the Reapers.

Why ME needs to be a Trilogy and cannot go on until people will buy the games, and improve every time. Get a writer if you don't have one yet and get some new stories and paralel advantures to play with. Let's not go through the same pain of Star Wars with 6 episodes only. It should become the advanced and improved version of Star Trek or Battlestar Galactica!...you have spent so much time creating this universe and baseline...why wasting it with only 3 espisodes?? Do 3000!

That really doesn't work dude: A) it's one big story and has to end i.e. it's not like Star Trek where they can do a new story each week and keep the train wreck moving forever, B) our decisions carry through.  and C) our decisions carry through.  There are technical limitations from that and it means they can't drag the story on forever.  They will make spin-offs though.

ME 3 will be the last in the series...for this epic story. I'm sure, like AwesomeName said, that there will be games branching out of other plots due to the magnitude and depth of the Mass Effect universe. These games would be awesome single stories. There is also no stopping another trilogy with a different storyline somewhere down the road...although, given the scope of the trilogy we are in, it may seem less important. Ending an everlasting cycle of harvesting and eradication of all organic life is tough to, if not impossible, to top. There would have to be a reliance on a subtle emotion or something small but personal to the player to match the breathtaking insurmountable odds we face in the Reapers.

To go back to the trailer discussion, we need to remember we are fighting Reapers. I admire their characterization up until now and believe that in the beginning of 3, we are going to be shown the fact that these are Reapers. I wouldn't be shocked to learn of total harvesting of Mars colony....and the death of a close crew member....ala the crew member you played with the most in ME2 (info provided if save import used). Seeing your favorite character die early from a Reaper would drive home and remind people we aren't battling Covenant....these are friggin Reapers. The sentient machine race who allows us to exist as a mere crop, and now the are here to collect their harvest. They have completed this cycle at least, the very least, over 700 consecutive times (based on the age of the derelict Reaper), and we are next. Not only are we next, but humanity has their full attention.

Yikes.

i just hope Mass Effect 3 isnt just ME2:part 2.

only taking from ME1 and ME2, its almost impossible not to come up with an exceptional game. i think ME1 is the better of the first two, but i would love if its not the best of the 3.
