It pains me to say it but what true MASS EFFECT fan still has any faith left in the series at all after that debacle of a sequal to "The greatest story ever told...ever" personaly im betting that ME3 will be a full on"turd person shooter"(see the rageaholic mass effect 2 review) and have barely any RPG elements left...but you never know casey hudsun & drew karpyshyn may wise up and restore the series to its former glory...probably not though.

Uhhh....what?

Anyone who looked deep into the Halo storyline will find unavoidable similarities with the Mass Effect storyline.

I will say there are some similarities, but I love Mass Effect so much more!

Bungie has stated that they were inspired by James Cameron's "Alien" series. You can see a lot of technological similarities in "Avatar" and Halo, especially the drop ships. There's always going to be similarities in the same genre of games. Just look at CoD, MoH, and Battlefield.

That being said, I love both Halo and ME.

i never played halo but i would be stunned if a shooter could match the in-depth of an RPG. With Sci-Fi its hard not to get simulair things though. its like saying all fantasy games have elfs and dwarves lol.

Yep, thats what I meant by simularities, its in space, there aliens, and there guns are some... But in all seriousness there are a few simularities that are not universal for scifi games forinstance, both of the main character's (Shepard and Master Chief) are not normal humans they have been geneticly modified to be better then all other humans, they were basicly upgraded. But Mass Effect is unbeatable in the scifi genra, it is utterly the best game series (I think) that has ever been made.

I will give all my internet cookies I have ever been given across my internet lifespan to know who was the voice actor of the soldier in the trailer.

Also my own idea:

This is not an all out attack on Earth. In fact, just like the soldier said that it was professionally organized against major cities, it is probably the same across all major galaxies. Given news of this invasion. Shepherd must choose which tactical planets to save and which to let fall as there is not enough time to save them all. This can be shown in game as choosing only X amount of planets before the others get overrun or showing tactical data on each planet that shows that certain planets will fall immediately while others can hold out for a couple more "turns" so you can choose them later. Depending on which planets you choose, you gain certain characters to your party, guaranteeing that you will not be able to gain the full party. I believe this direction for character choosing would be a a wonderful feature as it also create a new squad to choose from every time you choose a different selection of planets.

I am going to be getting a new gaming laptop this spring and plan on playing ME 1 2 3 combined so that I can play each story line all the way through.

You know,I'm all open to the get every one to help you story, but I don't want to feel rushed the whole story, sure at the end yeah makes scence, but not as much in the begining I still want to be able to go walk around, shop,do some side missions and explore more worlds those things are what made the ME universe feel alive.

So I'm guessing that in the begining shep gose on some mission and finds out that the reapers where like "f**k it" and just started flying here,so with this knowledge he begins to get the other races to help by gaining there trust(by eather helping them,or with choices you made in the other games)some harder then the others(turrians, humans),so as your getting ready(time for side missions and stuff)you go on some reaper centerd missions as well as getting the other races help and what not, learning more and more about the reapers with each mission(maybe more prothian beacons)then the reapers start to attack, there you choose to eather go get the other races help(know the the reapers are here no proof needed)or just attack them and try to save earth and the other planets who are getting hit first..........................just a thought

Also I belive earth will become there "home base" if you will, because they need us to make there next line of reapers,I think what they will do with the other races will be similar to what they did to the protheans and what ever the keepers where.eather killing them all,or killing most of them and turning the rest in to some crazy looking things to eather take the place of the collectors,or trying the keeper thing agin but just with a modified keeper..............again just a thought

The first half of the game could focus on gaining the support of each major group in space( The citadel, the krogans, the rachni [Only if you saved them] Turian fleet, Quarian flotilla, etc.

These missions will be easier or harder depending on your choices from the first two games. You can use brute force to force them to help you fight the reapers.

Second half should be them attacking planets, you can either gain or lose allies during this as you tactically select which planets to save. You land on each planet and perform a series of six quests on each one to save that particular planet, basically how the above described it.

Heh, this was endlessly debated earlier in the thread.

It's definitely not Simon Pegg, who twittered as much.

Sean Bean's fansite claimed it wasn't him as well.

Alot of other possibilities were discussed, but I think the discussion died because we have literally almost nothing to go on.

I think it's a simple resemblance, maybe they meant the character to look a little like him (since he's british too) but can you really imagine paying the royalties to Jason Statham just to appear uncredited on a minute long teaser?
The voice sounds like his one too a little bit but you can easily tell it's not him.
He just looks like. And I doubt we will see him on the videogame...maybe a cameo or something...
Awesome teaser by the way.
Cheers

All mass effect trailers thus far have featured prominent characters.
Just saying.

Wow.. Some comments on the first page (As far as I read as the comments started to sound the same) are just totally and utterly rubbish.. Some show that people didn't listen in ME2 about.. Well anything..

I remember a while back there was a sudden surge of threads on "Let us go to Earth in ME3!!" and when they do this people start to question and pick at the story line. Yes, well done, the story of Mass Effect is to stop the Reapers and other less important threats.. Why people are hating this, I have no idea.

I really like the trailer! Looks good! Can't wait to be running around London, hopefully with an army.

Trailer is very interesting. The main thing - it raises some questions about the plot of the game.

One of them is as follows.

In this trailer (ME3) was an information that in the first week of the invasion on the Earth were killed more than 7 million people. At first this information seems as horrible. But remember the enormous power of the Reapers. This figure indicates the big loss rather than the destruction of all humanity. It seems like a "sweep". It is also clear that they want to save the planet. Otherwise, why bother to appear on Earth. It is not difficult (for the Reapers) to destroy Earth from the orbit. From this " thought" I have an assumption: Reapers "agreed" with the Illusive Man. Not accidentally that the new Reaper (ME2) was so similar to human. May be the main enemy in the game (ME3) will be Cerberus?

They should just put dancing in it. Period.

I want an end-game dance with everybody it while the credits role. That would be hilarious.

No, as has been stated before, that reported information was of London only. Which means it was seriously catastrophic seeing as in modern day, London only has a population of 7.5 million, granted sure that number is going to notably rise in 170 years, but I doubt by enough to make such a number seem insignificant.

So with 'similar reports coming in', I think Earth is pretty much frelled unless Shepard gets their butt in gear and gets help.

Edit: Also to clarify it was 2 million in the first day and then by the end of the week another 7 million, so it's 9 million in total, so yeah if there is another 2 million population added to london in 170 years. London is pretty much muerto. Specially as the Reapers are still coming down at that point the trailer is in.

Good question , but it seems earth has some type of defensive capability.Given the information Shepard got on the reapers , earth and others places would know weak points / shields or weapons that could help attack/defend against what seems to be more a small groups of reapers.

As said above , I also think when the main reaper force arrives it will split into small groups attacking planets all over the galaxy.
