I already knew that the trailer was Mass Effect related from the little bits that were shown before the full trailer was presented. Why? Because the rifle the guy was holding looked just like the Incisor sniper rifle from ME2.

Wrex for ME3

Wrex is busy saving his entire species. It'd be silly to just demote him to a tag along in Shep's crew.

Yeah. Clearly slow extinction by in-fighting and the genophage is the immediate threat at hand. <_<

I don't believe ME3 will be majority Earth-based. I feel that the first half to 2/3rds of the game will be based around resolving species conflicts/issues i.e. Deciding what to do about the Krogan Genophage in the face of the reaper armada wiping out the known universe, Finding a suitable homeplanet for the quarians/Aiding the quarians in a mission to eradicate the Geth etc.

I'm CERTAIN that, AT SOME POINT, There will be an altercation/confrontation with 'the council' now that they're having their asses pwned by the reapers, Which, As we all know, Is inevitable.

Sure, There will probably be at least one or two recruitment-based missions...After all, It wouldnt be "Mass Effect" without recruitment missions!!

After that, You'll probably have to rally every species who has signed on to help you, Take out any reapers attacking the citadel (yet again!) and then head to Earth (for those who're as hardcore sci-fi fans as I am, Ala Sheridan taking back Earth in Babylon-5; Proxima 3, Then Mars, Then Earth kinda deal)

But ye, That's my 2 cents. I really don't think its gonna be an ALL earth game and I really don't think it's gonna be a pure shooter. Bioware are notorious for their RPG-mix style of games...They're not gonna abandon that now. Too many people were unhappy with ME1, Being the RPG elements were too confusing, Too many people were unhappy with ME2, Being the RPG elements were too lobotomized, I'm fairly certain they'll strike a decent balance with ME3...After all, "Third time's the charm!"

I've only just seen the trailer and I am now very concerned that ME3 could be a major let down.

ME1 (which is my personal favourite) set the stage, if the repears return, we are all doomed.

ME2 was stop the agents of the reapers, I'm guessing the untold reason was to create the Human reaper so it could attack the citadel and open the Citadel mass realy.

So personally if the reapers can just fly back billions of light years in a matter of a few moths/years, this is an epic Fail and defeats the whole point of the 1st story.

I hope, sincerely that ME3 will be about stopping the reapers once and for all from returning, maybe finding out who created them and so finding a way to destroy them.

If however ME3 ends up a "hey the reapers return and lay waste to earth, Shephard gets the Rachni, Volus, Krogan and whoever together and force a peace, or utterly defeat the Reapers with a numerically smally or greater force" then this will be a poor conclusion to a great series.

I think that the fact they have to fly all the way to Milky Way from dark space will have a very crucial role in defeating the Reapers in ME3. I mean think about it, flying months or years non-stop must consume huge amount of energy and in dark space there aren't any gas stations. By the time they arrive to Milky Way they might no longer be fully operational because of energy shortage. Otherwise there would be no point in using mass relay since time doesn't really matter to them.

Or, you know, maybe they had a plan B that hasn't been disclosed yet.

Like another mass relay?

I'm not so sure Bioware hasn't left themselves this "out."

Considering, according to how most reapers seen as of yet look. I think its one of the earliest organic races, perhaps cause of a plague in a desperate attempt turned themself into enormous giant machines to survive. A very high tech race who built the Citadel Relay among all other things. Pretty sure they once was organic. Cause it would be pretty weird else wise.

Atleast the Citadel must been built before any other "organics" dominated the known galaxy. I would sure not trust a bunch of gargantuan sentient space ships flying by my turf with a enormous space station going "here you go fellas!"

Perhaps your right , maybe they try to recharge themselves by taking energy from the  relays or a planet. After being fully charged they simply annihilate the planet/planets and continue. But in between that period they are extremly vulnerable perhaps even more than Sovereign.

How about the keepers? It is suggested that they were among the first to be enslaved by the reapers, could it be that their creation backfired?

True true, it can be a "Quarian misstake" big time. But now if the keepers made the reapers as a "Defensive mechanism, aka get to the Citadel fast if attacked. We built in a relay in it" thingy,  then the Quarians made a "Keeper" light error with the geth :) Interesting indeed your twist to my "theory" here :D

The Reapers will not be flying all the way back from dark space. They will use the black hole they are turning Haedstrum's sun into (Tali's recruitment mission). That's not difficult to see coming.

I also agree the Keepers will be playing a larger, more "Genesis explaination" role in ME3. I think the "

From the last cutscene of ME2, i think we can conclude that the reapers are actually quite close to "our" space already. Therefore, they will probably not need a mass relay-like way of transportation.

why did they need citadel in first place if they could just fly over here?

A black hole? You must be joking, right? Even a Reaper could't survive a black hole. Black holes are not for insterstellar/interdimensional traveling (-> Star Trek 2009), anything that falls into a black hole will be dematerialized and turned into energy.

Would you travel to Australia walking or do you take a plane? Besides, the Citadel was the hart of every galaxy they exterminated.  If they got that with one move, wouldn't you?

The citadel was meant to be an ambush indeed, the heart. Strike the heart and the being holding it will crumble. Killing of the council that is in the "heart" is also like killing of the "brain".

Am I the only one who remembers a trailer for ME1 that was nothing like the game? The trailer made it sound like Shep had to pick one of two planets to live and Ash and Gar were with him? Am I the only one who remembers this? This could be just a cinematic trailer that will have little truth in game...in fact there was a ME2 trailer that has this effect (no pun intended) I seem to recall Grunt, Thane, Shep rushing trough a town fighting Collectors that was not even close to possible in game. Also the trailer with Grunt killing a Maw by himself...didn't happen like that in game. I think a bunch of folks are reading way to much into a simple (awesome though it may be) video. Just my two cents.
