As excited as I am for ME3, I share the concerns in hoping this does not devolve into a "Dragon Age in space", "humans humans humans" plot.
The Reapers have been repeatedly referenced as a threat to not just humans, but the entire galaxy. If the story is centered on just saving Earth, I would be disappointed in how wildly the direction of the story had shifted.
It's Shepard's story. And Shepard is a human. It makes entire sense for Mass Effect 3 to be about defending Earth. Badass Turian Number Eight, from that alternate reality universe where Mass Effect's largest consumer base wasn't human beings, is off saving the Turian homeworld, and we can infer he's doing an OK job. You just don't see it. Nor do you need to see it.
Frankly, even in a fictional universe, I don't give a **** about the other planets or the other races. I'm human, I live in London. I only give a damn about saving right here.
Any other planet that needs saving will be fictional, and therefore carry a fraction of the emotional resonance that a beseiged Earth carries.
It makes zero sense for BioWare to do anything but focus on the plight of humanity.
