I'm almost surprised that my earlier prediction of Mass Effect 3 having a Dragon Age: Origins like premise (evil force is invading, so you spend the game uniting the galaxy against them... more or less) looks to be exactly what's going down. But when I think about it, I really shouldn't be surprised. A good portion of ME2 seems to be setting up disputes you'll likely have to resolve during the course of ME3 (quarians vs. geth, krogan traditionalists vs. krogans that don't suck, etc., etc.), and the very concept of overcoming galactic grudges and such in order to overcome a greater threat is one of the obvious themes of the series as a whole, so it being the case in ME3 is the obvious answer.

I was flabbergasted when the trailer and game summary revealed that the Reapers were piledriving Earth directly as a first step. Honestly, I thought the Citadel would be their first stop, you know, like it was supposed to be in ME1. They must really consider humanity a threat to risk alerting the galaxy before taking full control of the Citadel and its Mass Relays.

Nathan maybe there is somethign they want/need on earth?

And I will be soooooo pleased if some of it is set in England :D

Will the specs be the same as Mass Effect 2, what does everyone think? My laptop can run 2 on high-medium settings but only just.

I heard the engine's similar to ME2, so it will probably have comparable specs. Probably a little better.

The Reapers made it to Earth because Shepard was too busy pulling off his horrible dance moves in After Life.

I hope we get to see Earth before the Reapers attack. Oh and BioWare for the next trailer, if you show London under siege again, could you have the WWII sirens going off in the background?

"October" because it's a placeholder date. That is, we know the game is out in Q4 of the year, and October happens to be the start of Q4, so...

I'm quite terrified unlike other stories in games where you are trying to the save the a world or the galaxy preventing something trying to take over or destroy before its happen or when it is just starting. This time though the Reapers are already here after all of Shepard attempts to stop them from coming. Not only are they here but the Reapers are first attacking Earth forcing Shepard to try to save humanity unprepared, and are probably starting to creating another human reaper.

This was my theory as well. My guess is that we'll have to go to the following planets/races to ask for their help. We'd end up going to the following:

Quarian
Geth
Krogan
Citadel/Council
Rachni(if you saved them in 1)

There are probably more. Maybe even hit up some Mercenary groups. I'm hoping the decisions we made in the first two make a much bigger impact.

Before trying to decipher this trailer to determine what it all means I'd like to remind everyone of the teaser for ME2.

So what did we learn from this?

1.  Shepard is Dead
2. We still fight the Geth
3. The Geth killed Shepard and took his armor
4. Still with the Alliance

But notice that Legion was a major character.  Few people would have believed that this seemingly normal Geth trooper with the N7 armor piece would be a party member.  Does that mean that "Big Ben" will be in ME3?  Maybe.

A human is the only thing to kill one reaper.  Nevertheless two.

In theory, the Reaper Invasion of Earth would be the final "no-turning back" mission like we saw with Illos or the Omega 4 relay suicide mission.

Varr,
I see your point. It is a good one indeed.Who's to say earth wasn't running it's own form of offensive during the attack. Plus, (Spoiler!) They were using "H" goo for their super soilder. Earth may like the place to draw us all out of our holes.

Mass Effect was great because of many things the color scheme the characters the atmosphere was soooo appealing and believable and everything was realistic as possible I loved the Mako explorations too ME 2 was good too really one of the best games but seriously it was much more made to be played by male teenagers ... all about action and over simplified combat ... and the music! god the ME 2 barely had some decent ones but then again I keep my fingers crossed and hope it will be more like Mass Effect....
