This. I'm not one way or the other.

On one hand, he could just be a Narrator for the trailer, giving the audience some perspective on where the storyline is for ME3.  

On the other hand, like someone else stated, he could be an important character because 'people who aren't important don't get faces in a Blur trailer.' 

I won't speculate one way or the other, because I don't know anything about him, aside from his wounded status, his sniper skills, where he's held up, and that the Reapers are f**king our sh*t up and Shep needs to save the day like the Big Damn Hero s/he is.

Strange as it may sound, it may be both.

Think Tychus Findlay. Initially he was a noname marine from the teaser, and in the end he got a book and and a major plot driving part in the game.

Well the guy who did Tychus at first basically went lovestruck for SC2, and actually wanted to stay on. The fans felt the same, so there was a reason to keep him. Tychus was written in for a bigger role because of it. I'm guessing that unless our VA wants to be in ME3, or gets a reasonable paycheck, we won't see him. I imagine this is proof that doing this is great for you if its done right.

Am I the only one that thinks he sounds like Jason Statham?

Anyway, when I saw the preview, I thought it seemed like this was just a character giving us a perspective of what's going on on earth. But I suppose he does seem to be a bad*ss, so it's not entirely unbelievable that he may show up in ME3. I still doubt he'll be a squad member, though.

And I love that on these boards the first question is always.... but is he a LI???

If he was prominent in a Mass Effect trailer, he must be a potential teammate.

Hmm, we could probably know if he's going to be a Squadmember if we just knew the voice actor. People like Sean Bean etc wouldn't JUST be in a reveal trailer and nothing more would they? On the other hand if its a small time actor trying to make his name, still have doubts..

I think its Sam Worthington though. Callin' it!

Except Sam Worthington isn't British and doesn't generally have anything remotely a british accent.



Jason Statham is another voice I'd be able to recognise real easy and there is no real hint of cockney like there is in Jason's voice.



Greg Ellis has done work for Bioware before and has done numerous work on military stories both in live action and as a VA AND most importantly he heralds from northern england which most people are picking up in that guys accent. Here's a pic of him

I know Greg Ellis' voice, though. He's not Greg Ellis, lmao. I hear Richard Armitage (who might've put on a different accent; he's an actor, after all) and Sam Worthington (oh, look, an Australian man who can put on a British accent, THAT'S never been done before).

What, do you disapprove of him? Everybody's gonna want every Bioware character made to be a LI because they're always amazing characters that people love, even the lowly Carth-trope. I've heard LI requests for just about every character in ME2 except Zaeed, Grunt, and a few other minor characters with major roles such as Anderson & Udina. I've even seen legitimate, well-thoughtout requests for Legion (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep anyone?). They could probably introduce some crazy bastard doing something absolutely brutal and inhumane and people will go "Well he's gotta be interesting. Must have virtual-rape-at-the-push-of-a-button with him"

I really hope this guy is a squadmate.

If that is the case, at least we will finally have a decent human squadmate. Miranda and Ashley were okay. I never liked Jacob. Kaidan was meekly average. Zaeed, being a DLC character, has little depth.

Which leaves us with the British guy to serve as the first decent human squadmate.

Yeah, this guy should be in ME3. He just sends off this badass vibe. He makes me think of a sort of Paragon Zaeed. I'd pick them as my squadmates on every mission, it'd be like having accented shoulder angels/devils!

Lol. No need to get defensive. I just think it's funny (and completely expected) that someone on the boards asked whether or not he'd be a LI pretty much immediately after the premier of the trailer.

I wouldn't mind if he's a LI, though I probably wouldn't romance him. Well, maybe I would. Gotta love the rugged guy with the English accent. Really though, I'd prefer the romances from ME1 and 2 be more thoroughly developed/ concluded rather than them spend time developing new ones. Either way, I do agree that Bioware creates very deep and interesting characters, so I'm excited for ME3 regardless.

I get a very "Male Elf Guy" vibe about this guy. If you frequent the Dragon Age 2 forums, you know what I'm talking about.

ETA: But I suppose the difference is that the writers confirmed Male Elf Guy has a place in the game.

No. I think he's just an Alliance marine who's sniping husks to help civilians get to safety. Maybe he'll have a role similar to that of Kal'Reegar on Haestrom.

I hope not!  This guy has my interest already!   We need Bioware to confirm or deny rumours quick!  To save myself from having a huge disappoint!

I do not think he will have much of a role if any role at all in Mass Effect 3.



Thats saying he could be used as an DLC pack like Dragons Age 1 did with leliana's song DLC pack showing how it is before everything happened. By showing the build up to the chaos of what the reapers have caused. but doubt that will happen
