I don't see why Bioware would introduce such a cool character in an impossible situation if not to make him part of the story. So, will he be part of a bridging DLC or will we only meet him in ME3 as we try to take back Earth?
I hope we're at least introduced to him in a DLC. Maybe he's the 2nd human Spectre! Or at least a candidate for such given his survival in such extreme odds.

Are you telling me there are other rugged looking, square jawed space marines with short brown hair in other games? That somehow this short brown haired space marine with a square jaw by BioWare isn't the most original character creation ever?
Honestly that guy is super generic looking like a blend of Gears of War characters, and Call of Duty characters and any other game with a brown colour pallette.

Yes it does because he's boring and cliched as hell. The story of Mass Effect has enough problems without shoehorning in generic white guy #472 because someone though he was kinda cool in that 10 seconds of CG trailer they just saw today.
We know nothing about him except what he looks like, where he's located, and what he does for a living. We don't have enough information to make a call on his character or role in the story. He could be the next human male LI, or perhaps the next Jenkins.adneate wrote...

Bioware: Please make the British sniper a DLC character as part of the "bridging the gap" between ME2 and ME3. He has all the makes of being a complete badass and as potentially becoming a very memorable character in the game... make it happen!

What's to say there's something wrong with a gritty, white, male rifleman? Those qualities don't automatically disqualify you from being interesting or having personality. Hell, Shepard is a white male soldier.
