I know you guys more than likely know better than to do this and were never planning to, but it needed to be said either way:

1) DO NOT MAKE THE PLOT PROGRESSION/STRUCTURE THE SAME AS ME2.  The "real" plot took a backseat to those of the squadmates' and suffered heavily for it.

2) DO NOT MAKE THE PLOT PROGRESSION/STRUCTURE THE SAME AS DA:O.  Assuming Shepard is going around and recruiting the races to combat the reapers, we don't need a DA clone.  I would say "I would rather just play DA:O," but it's not true because I prefer ME gameplay by far.

Thank you :)

Seconded. Keep it unique. Not that DA:O and ME2 weren't good, but no need to make the same game twice.

I would love for a red-sand junkie to say that to me.  Game of the Decade for sure.

5) Remid the above poster that ME2 only qualifies as an RPG by Bioware's standards, which are just as abstract as most other defenitions of the term, and that RPG generally refers to games with gameplay mechanics derived from Dungeons and Dragons and other early tabletop games.

Don't we have a thread for this or something?

Oh, it must be every other thread on this forum.

Don't bring it in here.

Remind you all that petty bickering will get threads closed and people banned.

Mass Effect 2 IS an RPG. (Character customization, choice and level up, alignment, choice, etc). YOU may not think so. YOU (not you, the other you) may think so. Get over it.

Edit: Post removed. Move on.

You know, I'm wondering whether some satisfaction is worst getting banned.  It's not like it would be difficult to get around...

An RPG is a game in which ponies fly out of your arse.

An RPG is a game in the genre so vaguely defined that practically any game could be called an RPG.

How dare you insult the shooter community like this! At least give us a good game to play like Bad Company 2

I for one have decided that it is best to reserve judgment until I play the game. Sure there are some things I like about the first better then the second but there is also alot of stuff from the second I like better then the first. On a whole the Mass Effect series has been hands down better then everything else out there. It is the best game series I have ever played.

I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favorite game on the Citadel!

My guess of how ME3 will go:

Shepard: Oh no! Earth is under attack! I'll need allies! We will need Asari!

The Asari: Sorry, we have our own problems that you will have to help us with before we help you.

Shepard: *Shepard helps the Asari* Now I need help from the Turians!

Turians: Yea sorry, you're gonna have to help us too.

And it will go on.. and on.. until the final mission which will take place on Earth.

Oh goodness I hope not. I've already played Dragon Age. I loved it, but still, dont need to play the Space Version. Someone really needs to set the definition of an RPG in stone. Then everyone will stop ****ing about it...

Yeah and while i'm deluding myself i'll also throw in a pony and world peace.<_<

You know he read it. That the important part right?

I agree with both points. ME2 was a good chance for character plot, time to get back to reaper invasion plot.

I thought about that... but I honestly don't think so. I can't see that being the focus of the game. Sure, you could be right, but I don't agree. I think Shepard has already done what he needs to do to get the help he needs. I think the DLC will lead us up to ME3 and set the stage for ground zero (think God of War III). It's ok to start minute 1 of a game with huge plot elements.

I'm hoping that the vast majority of the game will take place actually fighting the Reapers, and the decisions made in 1 and 2 will affect how the gameplay works (fighting with Rachni, Krogan, Quarians, etc).

Or... it could be that you spend the whole game acquiring resources and allies and you have a big counter on your loading screen that says 6.5 billion expected casualities which goes down the more side missions you do (kidding).

You do realize that Mass Effect 3 is probably close to finished already, right? At this point they're probably just working on polish and DLC.
