I disagree. He looks like your average Joe, someone you could imagine meeting in the street. I'd describe him as being "exceptionally ordinary".

And I don't think that this trailer is the most accurate reprisentation of what his face will look like in the game. CGI versions of human characters tend to look a little different than their game counterparts.

Oh, they'll look very different. For example, I thought CGI Leliana was much better looking than in game Leliana, while CGI Morrigan looked worse than in game Morrigan.

I mean, christ. On a scale of 1-10, me clearly being infinity due to my ridiculously attractive self, this guy would be the square root of -1.

Man, I got to consider what the square root of -1 looks like...it's like his face imploded.  I hear what you're saying, but I think he's even more interesting than ugly.  He's PLAIN.

Ugly is easy.  Grotesque (like Wrex's scarred face) is easy AND fun...remember when we were kids and we loved drawing cyborg monsters?  Yeah, me too.

But an unremarkable face is about the hardest thing you can do, because to do so you have to make it very realistic.  That's really, really difficult.

There's a good design reason for this.  This supporting character CANNOT be more handsome than our Shepards, because otherwise there's a risk we'll get jealous and dislike him.

Here, let's try a thought experiment.  Which actor do you like more?  Jude Law or Robert Downing Jr?  Tom Cruise or Sylvester Stallone?  Orlando Bloom or Jason Statham?

In the case of most heterosexual males, we prefer the less handsome one.  We rationalize, like we say one's a star only because of his looks, while the other's a real actor and a cool guy.  But it's likely due to our egos.

Possible exception - I will acknowledge if you are a paradigm of male beauty, that may be a smaller factor, so you might not feel the same way.

Now, I don't see him as ugly as you do, but I fully acknowledge your point.  However, he also seems honest, reliable, hard-working somehow.  A real bro.  And I think that's what he's supposed to be.

Being the representative of attractiveness that I am, I can deem a character ugly or not.



And this man is ugly. Plain, but ugly.



More plain than anything though. Which is sort of a good thing.

Yeah, he kinda is. But who cares, he probably dies 5 minutes after the trailer's action.

yus it is! I keep looking for the gherkin too, as that's seemingly in every shot of the city ever for every media thing made about London, as nothing screams LONDONBABY then a sexually suspect looking glass building on the horizon. Obviously.
