I'm with you on this! BioWare spoiled too much before ME2 released and it got me pissed knowing that there was not too much that I didn't already know. I fell in love with ME1 because I knew nothing about it and discovered the greatness of that game. Blackout will occur for me once they start releasing a new article.

Alright Mass Effectors, we got a glimpse of what to expect from ME3 with the awesome trailer that was released.

Now, who is up to the challenge of NOT looking at any ME3 media until after you've played ME3? A complete ME3 media blackout... I mean, no videos, pictures, or articles relating to ME3.  That would also mean staying out of the ME3 forum and website when that is created....  but of course look at release date info so you can pre-order!

I did it for ME2... it was brutal, but the feeling of going in to ME2 without looking at anything related to ME2 (except the first Legion reveal trailer) was great, and experiencing ME2 without really knowing anything in advance was fantastic.  Like I said, difficult, but well worth it in the end.

So.... who is with me?

No. I'm already practicing abstinence and I don't need another weight to hang around my neck.

I couldn't do it.

For me, part of the experience is all the marketing and media hype before release, so I'm relying on them not to spoil too much.

Put me in the camp of wanting to, but not having the willpower to do so.

It's a year off and I'm already getting way too excited for it. Avoiding info leading up to release will be nigh-impossible for me.

I tried this challenge with ME2. I failed miserably. Maybe I'll try again though...

These are all great games that comes out before ME3

1. Dragon Age 2
2. Deus Ex: Human Revolution
3. Star Wars: The Old Republic
4. Crysis 2
5. L.A. Noire

These are all games that comes out around or near the launch of ME3

1. Forza 4
2. Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
3. SSX 4

For me I did not have the luxury before ME2 came out as during that time, most of the great games were coming out either with ME2 or after (Like Red Dead Redemption and BF: Bad Company 2) so there were not other distractions for me. However, with ME3 I can easily get lost in the pool of those great games above without having to even think about ME3.

I'd prefer to not even know the game exists before I buy it. To just walk into a game shop one day and see Mass Effect 3 on the shelf would be awesome. Unfortunately, that will never happen, so I'll settle for a media grey out, picking up scraps of info on the gameplay here and there, but hopefully avoiding contact with major plot details from here on.

I agree and I'm going to stop myself of seeing any info except the release date and I'm going to start.....RIGHT NOW.

We've got some more DLC for ME2 to come, so that'll keep me distracted from ME3 in the interim.

If I so much as see one dev interview, or a character reveal, then my mind goes off on its own little tangent imagining what might happen in ME3. Made that mistake with ME2, have to try not to with ME3.

I never felt like I spoiled something when I saw promos or trailers. I always felt like they were things we were "allowed" to watch. Sure, you can do it for ME3 if you want, but I've never actually felt any difference in the past between games that I knew something about and games that I didn't play at all. The only time I actually try to resist using the internet is within the last month or so before release, and even then I only try to stay away from 4chan (/v/ in particular). I went into DA:O without knowing anything about the game at all apart from the fact that it was a fantasy RPG of sorts, and I still wasn't exactly excited for it. Then again, ME3 is the last ME trilogy game, and I loved the first two and am hungry for more, while DA:O was just "some game".

I personally can't do that. I will blackout as soon as have seen the release date, gameplay videos, hints at where the plot is headed and which characters will be returning. THEN i will retire from BSN, right before all the leaks and hardcore, spoilerific dev diaries start hitting the web.

I had been out of gaming for a few years (with the exception of GTA4) and was made aware of Mass Effect just days before the 2nd game got released so I have no idea how much was spoiled beforehand.

Now, however, I'm so invested in ME that I doubt I will be able to not read every article and watch every video that gets released. I'm weak that way. .

Sorry, I couldn't even resist watching the ending of SC2: Heart of the Swarm. I could have waited if it was leaked 2 weeks early, but a year? Hell no.

No problem for me. I'll probably ignore the game all together until release. Got a lot of things to do anyway, ME3 will be there in no time.

Nah, I don't think I will, I never do. I will read every interview, watch every trailer, listen to every rumor, and get any leaks I can. (If a single spoiler can ruin the whole experience, then probably the experience wasn't that good to begin with).

Ironically, I entered ME2 almost blind, mostly because my reaction to the first ME was... meh. I didn't really pay any attention to the sequel. Until the launch trailer (and that was spoilery enough).

I will last as long as GH DLC can hold me, and so far it can't old me at all, I will try to ignore all the stuff but once the Dev Diaries come out then I have to watch them, then I will go back through all the stuff I missed.

I can't do it.

Hyping myself up for the game to the point where the anticipation becomes almost unbearable is part of the fun for me. It's almost as good as ... not sex but... Thanksgiving for me. Two days before Thanksgiving, I always starve myself. Not literally, but like I only have a sandwich for breakfast and lunch and a fruit for dinner. Why? Because Thanksgiving Day food is literally my favorite type of food. So when the day finally comes I'm ravenous and I enjoy it more.

Mass Effect is like Thanksgiving Day food in video game form for me. ME 1 had me hooked for four months and 15 playthroughs straight (and still does lol) and I get strong urgings to play ME 2 after 16 (and counting lol) playthroughs. So no, no media blackout for me since I want to descend upon Gamestop like a drug fiend on release day lol.
