i- Have combat like ME2 but the RPG feel of ME1
ii- Bigger, longer and more challenging levels and bosses
iii- If we travel around on planets again, please make something better than the Hammerhead
iv- Keep paragon/renegade pop-ups in, but allow us to have the option of using both charm/intimidate as well, playing one all the way through gets boring and some moments just call for you to be paragon or renegade
v- No multiplayer

(1) The return of my favorite character in a significant capacity.

(2) Significant bad consequences for one of the big Paragon decisions (destroy the base is my candidate)
(3) More realistic presentation of the space environment (no exposed skin, changing spatial orientation if plausible, realistic movement of spaceships - i.e. not like airplanes, no falling in space etc. etc.)
(4) Tone down the cheap horror. Reapers are horrific enough, we don't need more liquefied humans and suchlike.
(5) Give the Reaper cycle a suitable epic background. Reproduction alone is too mundane to be interesting.

5. More & Richer PRG elements.

4.Less Linear missions (as in there being multiple paths to one area and variations, as in the the longer path is easier with more cover but the shorter is faster with stronger enemies and less cover)with more variation in missions (personally loved Kasumi's Loyalty mission so I'd love another espionage/infiltration mission. Hell even a few mission where you don't even need to carry all those guns would be cool).

3. Return of all previous Squad mates if there alive with proper interaction. Also, to go a long with this, the Romance under fire idea is brilliant but I'd also love to see a friendship under fire, I mean, if we're in a bromance with Garrus I'd love to see some dialogue that indicates that where best mates as we mow down tones bad guys. .

2. Grand Epic space battle where we get to direct our fleets and attempt to pick the right choice for the right circumstance with vary results depending on choice (like the suicide mission but on a much grander scale.

1. Interactive and playable prologue where we get to see the future of the galaxy and our friends and loved ones take shape.

- Romance Under Fire
Have romances continue outside of the Normandy in the heat of things.

- Mission Objective Options
More ways of completing a mission than dialogue or combat, like stealth or sabotage for example.

I'd like to second these two. Great ideas Lumen11!
I would also like to add:    A continuation of companion quests
Stealth and better close quarters combat
                                               No mining

1. See a mix of new and old squadmates.

2. I want to be able to change Shepard's facial appearance DURING the game.

3. More facial hair options ( For guys of course).

4.More squadmate outfit options.

5. Longer side missions. The N7 missions in ME2 are well detailed but way too short to enjoy.

I would go as far to include your skills as well.  I already have several level 30 characters and how badass would it be to start the game out with the M98-Widow.

Well anyways my top 5
5. Skills, weapons/armor, and level transfer over from ME2 to ME3.  Level cap is then increased to 60
4. I want the game to adjust to my decisions and current level
3. New Powers in addition to old ones
2. More Paragon/Renegade interrupts
1. My squad from ME2

Man there is so much more that I want in 3!

1. Bigger choices and consequences (Satisfactory return of every old character)
2. More skills/items/such to customize characters
3. Better in-game teammates, now they're just weapon turrets. Stupid ones
4. Stuff to do after main quest (Fight arena, gambling...)
5. Full galaxy. Both games only had half of full galaxy map

5. Satying loyal to your ME1 romance during ME2 having a payoff of some sort (IE: Wedding, they don't break up with you again)

4.Liara

3.Kelly Chambers as an actual romance

2.Companion Armor that makes sense.

1. Space Combat (either playable or in awesome cutscenes)

1. Return of all love interests in a large, important manner. Obviously not all of them can be squadmates, but they'd better be around a lot if you romanced them. Kaidan/Ashley, though, should most definitely be squadmates.

2. Female aliens. Turians especially, but also volus, elcor, krogan, salarians, and batarians.

3. Armor on each and every squadmate. And I mean real armor. No exposed cleavage, no eye-exposing bubble masks. Also, no high heels--give me a break. No spandex. Just real, awesome, customizeable armor just like Shepard gets.

4. Choices from ME1 and ME2 actually have some kind of impact beyond a news story.

5. Squad banter a la Dragon Age. These people do realize that the other squad members exist, y'know...they've got to have some interactions with them sometime.

5. No Boss Degradation/Giant Mook status for the Reapers

4. More vehicle exploration

3. Make the vehicle a more integral part of the gameplay (like Overlord), but it shouldn't overstay its welcome

2. A shot down, nearly destroyed Reaper vs. Hammerhead fight

1. Best ending being harder to achieve

1. Ok I would love the game to open with a funeral on the Normandy. Obviously some of the crew died when the Collectors first invaded the ship so you can have it be there no matter what. Then Shepard can choose to give a eulogy for each squad-mate that died (if any did). After that the coffins can be launched into space making a good reference to Star Trek. They can even have Mordin play a Salarian version of the bagpipes (unless hes dead).
2. Let us go back to the Presidium.
3. Cooler Paragon interrupts. There were very little Paragon interrupts in 2 and the few we got were not nearly as awesome as the Renegade ones. So come on Bioware, Paragons can be badass too.
4. More Anderson!
5. The ability to change armor at anytime. Having to go back to the ship to change my armor just to see if that new shoulder piece I bought looks cool was a real pain.

1) MASS EFFECT atmosphere (music, general mood)- not a generic action movie

2) Bring back the music. No more scores of just little bits of Mass Effect 1 beats in there.

3) Keep the game's plot huge and focused on ONLY the story. Characters this time around should be supporting role like in the first game. We want them to be there experiencing the fight and events with us....we don't need to "get" them loyal....the galaxy is dying=good enough reason.

4) I like the inventory....just give us more choices for customization....that will solve alot of problems

5)Let us keep our squadmates from all games BUT limit it to 6-7 people. Wrex is out of the question for obvious reasons....but let us take like Mordin or someone on the ship as an npc if we want. It'll make your life easier Bioware AND make people happy.

1. Keep the same combat as in Me2, but expand the rpg elements
    - More weapons, skills, armor
    - Make the gear more customizable

2. Interesting squadmates with better squad banter

3. Keep the galaxy exploration

4. REMOVE TEDIOUS MINING

5. Huge space combat cutscenes

Make it happen Bioware :P

1. All LIs return (if the player kept them alive)
2. ME1 style inventory system, except better made (deeper RPG elements)
3. Some decisions will backfire
4. Squadmate outfits that are customisable (and actually make sense-Jack's outfit springs to mind)
5. More grey moral choices

1 Squad banter

2 An explanation about what the Lazarus Project was exactly

3 Combat and hostile enviroment-appropriate outfits for everyone

4 An explanation for what the Collectors were trying to accomplish in ME 2. Yes we know what it was, but what was it for?

5 Consequences, consequences, consequences!

1. Higher Level Cap - 60 for instance

2. More weapons - 3 per class in ME2 was ridiculous

3. More abilities (like ME1, that comes with a higher level cap) and the ability to use more than 1 at a time (like ME1)

4. Experience off enemies rather than after each level

5. I want my RPG elements from ME1 back in general :(

As for new additions:

- Bring back Miranda and Thane

- Space combat (like Halo: Reach)

5) To be able to go to Palaven

It's probably gonna be one of the locales that Shepard will visit in ME3. I mean, Shepard has to convince every single galactic civilization that ending the Reaper threat is something in the galaxy's collective interest.

Good, I hope it happens. I hope ME3 turns out to be the most epic game in the trilogy.

I like this thread.

1.Multiple ways to resolve the Geth/Quarian conflict which could result in one side's destruction or a peaceful resolution.

2.The ability to actually lose the game and have the reapers win.

3.Space battles, preferably one against Harbinger.

4.Squad mates ability to use heavy weapons

5.Kill the Illusive Man.

What I want -
1) A galactic invasion of the reapers; not just a human-centered one
2) A few select ME2 characters to return as squadmates (*cough* Garrus *cough*)
3) Squad banter/interaction
4) Larger emphasis on the main plot
5) A return to the classic Sci-fi roots of ME. ME2 felt to much like a Hollywood blockbuster in my opinion; the universe seemed more...generic this time around.

What I don't want -
1) Multiplayer
2) A repeat of the grossly human-centric vibe of ME2
3) Choosing between ending the game with either pro-alien or pro-human dominance. The option to chose either would be fine, but don't force it on the players.
4) A revival of the uninspired and linear ME2 level-up system. ME's system wasn't perfect either, so I'm hoping for a new system altogether.
5) The current dialogue system. I shouldn't have to adhere strictly to one morality to break up a cat-fight between my crew. Perhaps assigning a separate persuasion skill will help neutral players achieve the same results a pure paragon/renegade character could.

1. Squad mates from ME1/ME2 returned.

2. Banter.

3. Dragon Age:Origins like persuasion/morality system.

4. Better Shepard characterization. Less perfect action hero, more realistic person.

5. Strong plot and character interaction.

I would also like to see the Mass Effect characters who don't return as squad mates at least play an important role assuming they survived.

For example, if Tali survived maybe she can help negotiate a truce between the Geth and the Quarians and if she died it will be much harder.
