3. Return of previouse squad members as squad members
4. More exploration (space walks anyone and planet exploration)
5. A lot more diologue/story (80 hours gameplay with a lot of squad diologue and banter)
Honerable mention
Return of helmet toggle

1.I doubt, there will be many RPG elements returning.Customization however is a must.Inventory, especially armor MUST return.Nothing beats the Joy of finding a Quarian Colossus.:wub:Just check the Old ME forums. On top of that, checking an old ME1 high level save, the armor designs are just wonderful. The ME1 and 2 artists should get a raze.Armor and mods, yeah.
2.A different plot direction.ME1 did a first Chapter proud,ME2 was the calm before the storm, very personal, very unique.ME3 needs to be its own beast however. No Return of the Jedi structure....As the final chapter,it has pretty big shoes to fill, but the not the same.
3.Return off Exploration.No Mining.NO,no,no,no.Landing on,less empty if possible,planets.
4.No Multiplayer.Nothing against it,but don't throw stones in the water. It has no place....here.Combat is and should be a secondary activity.Less Shooting, more talking.Or at-least spread shootouts out better. Some stretches in ME2 felt to much like corridor shooter, not an NPC in sight.
Witch brings me to:
5.Keep the worlds connected.I have no problem with Loading screens, even if i do prefer Elevators. However let the player move back and forth between environments, especially on Hub worlds. And spread quests, combat and conversation across all of them.No area should feel like a one note tune.
Otherwise designer seem to have a pretty good idea of direction.

2. Bring back the atmospheric spacey feel of the ME1 soundtrack and add to it. I miss the feeling that the Me1 soundtrack evoked.
3. Space and Planet Exploration. I want to explore individual planets like in Me1 but not with the Mako and with more interesting planets with more depth.
4.More diverse weaponry...make the weapons unique
5. More interaction with NPCs. Like Hanar, Elcor, Etc. plus Females of all the species.

Harbinger
"This Hurts you" "You're form is weak"
Sovereign
"I am the vanguard of your destruction" "You exist because we allow it, and you must die because we demand it."

All in all, ME2 was absolutely fantastic to play, but I miss the planets and other small things that made ME1 feel so real. I lost the sense of fascination with an ever expanding, unknown galaxy in which I shaped the fate of all life with my choices.

2) More interaction with companions, both on and off the ship.
3) More guns/N7 Armor. The variety and choice in ME2 was amazing, just want more.
4) Larger scale and more in-depth romance arcs. More bonus things like the intercom in the private quarters.
5) Larger levels that are linked together better, but retain the excellent detail, atmosphere, and life seen in ME2.

Miranda and Garrus as squadmates and LIs.
A better level-up system.
Being able to talk to my companions at any time like I can in Dragon Age Origins.
Playthroughs as long as those of Dragon Age Origins.

2. Timmy getting shot in the spine and left in the parth of a pack of husks.
3. Tali's face.
4. Some closure with the Virmire Survivor, LI or not.
5. A real sense of victory. I want a one-sided savage beating the likes of which almost never appears in fiction. I want a sense of urgency from the Reapers, and a confidence from the races of the galaxy born from cavalcades of cannonfire.
Just once, I want the bad guys to disover to their horror that they've slammed facefirst into something they can't handle.
6. A battle soundtrack compsed by either Manowar or Judas Priest.

1. I want the ability to be loyal to ME1/ME2 romances in ME3, and for that loyalty to pay off in the end (esp. if you remained faithful in ME2)...
...still, some new romance options would also be nice, as well as consequences for cheating.
2. Squad banter. One of the best parts of DA:O would be simply epic in ME.
3. Less shooting gallery gameplay. One great thing about ME1 was how immersive and realistic the combat felt, in ME2 however, it could at times veer towards the 'look! MORE enemies to shoot for the sake of it' end of the spectrum.
4. Special dialogue between Shepard and any previous LI. Kinda annoying having Garrus completely disregard our magical night together post suicide mission...
5. Palaven and any other homeworlds we haven't visited. Earth is great and all but...
I wanna b*tchslap Garrus' dad ^^

2. More romance options, not just in how many but more so in the aspect of how much those romances can affect their personal stories. Dialogue options in and out of missions.
3. A more refined upgrade and research system. What is there in ME2 is okay but it would be great if you could reimplement the mod system as well so you could do both.
4. Better inventory management. I get the idea of having to use the weapons locker to change loadouts as realistically carring 50 guns wouldn't be right. But I noticed in ME2 you have less control of it. You can't even upgrade the armor/outfits for your team. But customizing armor outfits for Shepard was a great idea. It was just ashame that didn't carry over to the team as well.
5. More exploration of the galaxy and mining, etc.

2. Previous squadmates on ME1 and current squadmates on ME2 would be available on ME3
3. Better story?, although ME2 had already that, I just wanted it more, for the lack of a better word superior than the previous one
4. Plenty of quests to do and lengthier
5. And last, I hope this wont be the end of the Mass Effect series
5.5 Better romance actions/options/cinematics

Indeed. I love ME2, but I always go back to ME1 just for this very same reason: the levels were more open and allowed for more exploration. I just hope BioWare can take the best of both ME1 and ME2 and make ME3 the most epic game there is.

2) The return of any and all surviving squad members from the first two games. I'll be okay if the DLC people from ME2 don't make it, and I'll even be okay if Thane is left out of the party since he's about to die anyway, but I'd better be able to team up with Liara, Miranda, Ashley/Kaidan, Garrus, Tali, and Morinth or there's going to be hell to pay.
3) Milk Legion for all he's worth. Poor guy got barely any screen time in ME2 - and I understand the dramatic reasons for that - but ME3 is his moment to shine. Screw it, I don't care if he's even on my squad, but I want to see Legion featured heavily in some capacity.
4) Meaningful and HIGHLY VARIABLE resolution to the romance sub-plot. I want to be able to pick anyone. Liara, Miranda, Ashley, Tali... I want to be free to choose from any of them. I'm afraid that BioWare is going to feature certain love interests less than others in ME3. Hopefully, they'll think twice and put as much energy into the romance sub-plot as they can spare. I want to be able to ask for marriage. I want to have meaningful, lengthy, and choice-heavy conversations with all of the love interests. This is an area of Mass Effect that I have never been fully satisfied with and I hope that BioWare can pick up the slack and make things more intimate this time around.
5) Playable characters other than Shepard. The ending to ME2 opens the possibility to play as new characters. I want to be able to do this. It doesn't have to be a huge dramatic change - it can basically be a model swap and an additional voice actor. (And they don't even have to go that far.) Alternatively, it could be the option to play as surviving squad members from past games. I want to be able to exercise this choice by starting a new ME3 profile as well. Of all the things on my list, this is the one I know won't happen. Still, it would be cool.
