Let's see... Assuming they all survived the suicide mission.

Miranda: Yes, if you destroy the collector base cause then she quits Cerberus, so there is no need for her to leave. No, if you keep the Collecter base cause then she'll probably be promoted by the illusive man to a better desk job.

Taylor: same as Miranda. If no, he'll probably not land a desk job but somekind of commander now like Shepard with his own team.

Garrus: I definitely see him returning. Shepard's team is just NOT Shepard's team without his kick*ss sidekick. Shepard's team already felt like it lost some BUZZAZ(!) when Wrex wasn't in it. I would like to see Male Shepard and Garrus have a talk in where Garrus get's all emotional about how his life is so hard (kinda the same like when romanced by female shep) and then Male Shep tells him his history as a kid from the streets/spacer/mindior survivor and ends up saying something like "You're like a brother to me, Garrus.". In short; I approve Shep/garrus Bromance!

Tali: I see her being a squad mate IF you either romanced OR exiled her. If you didn't she'll probably be on the admiralty board and have her own ship and stuff and not have time to be your squadmate.

Legion: probably not, he would be returning to the Quarian home world and try to convince the geth there to ally with the humans so they can combat the reapers.

Mordan: Highly doubt he'll even be alive anymore. Salarians over 40 are a rarety and let's face it, he's pushing 50...

Grunt: My guess is not. He'll probably return to the Krogan homeworld.

Samara: definitely not. At omega she said that "after our mission, I might return here." suggesting she might return to Omega to wreak justice there.

Morinth: I don't think so. She'll probably leave after the suicide mission to go eat someone's brain somewhere else.

Jack: Yes if you romanced her. No if you didn't, since she said she's only here for the suicide mission and after that to "cut lose"...

Thane: if the fans have their way, yes and magically cured too I imagine... (if they cure thane for the thanemancers, it's only fair they show Tali's face for us talimancers!

Zaeed: as a DLC character I don't see him returning other than a Cameo.

Kasumi: Same as Zaeed.

Kaidan/Ashley: It'd really surprise me if they were anything more than a mere Cameo again...

Wrex: Probably not since he's trying to unite krogan clans.

Liara: No, she is the shadow broker and doesn't have time to accompany shepard.

Jeff/Edi/: yes. Period!

Chakwas/Chambers: if you rescue them in time yes.

Saren arterius: NO! he's dead! now quit asking!

I wouldn't be mad, because it's what I'm expecting. At most, I think a couple of the more popular or plot relevant characters will return as temporary squadmates for a single mission. Other than that, I think that most, if not all ME2 squaddies will be NPCs or cameoed in ME3.

All the romances will definitely be on the team or at least have a very important role.

Considering ME2 was all about the squad I'd be really disappointed if atleast some of them don't return as squadmates. Personally I'm hoping for Garrus, Miranda and Kaidan but at this point anyone would be good.

If no one returned, ME2 would be utterly pointless for two reasons;

1. That hole game was about gathering a squad for the suicide mission. The way I see it, the mission isn't really done until the reapers are stopped. Why would TI or Shepard let them go when they after the collector base know just how close to an invasion they are?

2.If ME2 is gonna have any replay value, the fact that you gathered a sqad in it must carry on to ME3. If you end up with a completely new one, you can just scratch ME2 right away. Otherwise it's just Matrix reloaded.

Ok Bioware is going to make sure ALL squad mates have at least an NPC/Cameo role... they wont just erase our squad mates

but i am 100% certain not everyone will be returning... especially because its possible some of them died... it creates to many story branches for bioware

I do really want most of the mass effect 2 squad mates to come back though, i really love garrus, thane, grunt, mordin and WREX

Also Miranda, i hated that i couldnt continue my LI with ashley, and so id sincerely appreciate being able to continue one with miranda

I just want to know when bioware will be telling us anything

In my opinion, ME2 is weaker than ME1 story-wise. You just go around recruiting people. And I felt the plot itself didn't advance much.

So if they don't bring back most, if not all, squadmates I'm going to label ME2 as the worst second part in a trilogy ever.

What was the point of the whole thing If you could totally skip it?

You remember those people you spent 20+ hours recruiting and helping solve their problems?

Yeah, they don't matter. Say hello to these new characters that won't mean anything for the last part of the trilogy!

Agreed.  I didn't spend all that time recruiting the 'galaxy's best' just to be like, "Alright you guys... thanks for the assist.  I think I got it from here.  Laters."

As long as the ME2 squadmates get some decent screen time in ME3 then i'll be happy. It was disapointing that characters like Ashley and Kaiden only got one scene in ME2 and that was it, you should atleast be able to re-kindle you old love interests in ME3.

What if they had a bunch (20+) of potential squad members (former squadmates from ME1/ME2 plus new people) but then only let you pick a certain number of people (10-12) to actually join your team. People would be able to pick and choose whomever they wanted and it would make replaying the game more enjoyable.

I might have some of a problem with this BUT.. I can see a few members leaving but not all of them. Depends on if we (Shepard) gets to choose what happens to Cerberus in ME3

I agree ShamieGTX Garus better be in ME3. why would he not?

This is unlikly. For the most part the geth think collectively. Its not like Legion has to go around rallying support and playing politics. Im pretty sure he's gonna be on the team.

If Miranda is not in ME3 in a significant capacity with significant screen presence and significant interaction, I will be mad. Very mad. It will probably be the rant-trigger of the year.

I would be OK with her as a temporary team member, but interaction with her at several points in the game along the main plot is an absolute requirement.

It will most likely be Garrus, Thane, and maybe Miranda, but I think everybody else will be new.

I don't expect all of them to, and it still sucks. Just another reason Bioware should never have attempted a trilogy-wide continuity. If they cant do it well, they have no business doing it at all. It just lowers the quality of the series as a whole.

I actually do remember people being in a huff about Ash/Kaidan/Liara not returning. Now magnify that 100 times fold if a hugely popular character like Garrus isn't returning.

Wrex was the most popular character in ME1. Liara was well liked as well.

So it would be a misstake to do the same misstake twice.
Returning fan favourites = Possible to create (has been done in ME2). Good publicity for listening to the fanbase (this has proven to be a good idea before).
No returning fan favourites = Not easier to create as they instead have to make new characters from scratch and try to make them popular instead of just give the characters who already have proven to be popular a bit more story. This has been done very sucessfully in ME2 with Garrus and Tali. Bad publicity for not living up to the high expectations they made for themselves.

So yeah, the return of at least the ME1 crew sounds like easy profit to me.

Dude.  I'm a girl.  Fangirl.  I am female.  I have ovaries, a uterus, and boobies.  I didn't deny anything, especially not the extent of my fandom.  Hell, I have a Mass Effect poster hanging on my wall!  You just got my gender wrong.

I wouldn't be surprised if it happened, but I would be exceedingly disappointed. Obviously, bringing back all of the previous squadmates would be an enormous undertaking and a logistical nightmare considering the multitude of outcomes in ME2, but Bioware are the ones who charted the course of the first two games and must have known from the beginning that players would become attached to these characters and want the to all return in the first act (also, SWTOR has more dialogue than the entire series of the Sapranos so no one should say that bringing back all of the characters would be impossible).

IMO, it would not make any sense (providing all of the characters from ME2 are alive) that Shepard would go looking for new teammates when he has a team of arguably the most skilled fighters, engineers, medics, and biotics in the galaxy who just went through hell together (presumably providing a fairly potent bonding experience) and will to serve under his leadership. Also, if Bioware reduces the entire squad from ME2 to cameo status, it would essentially reduce ME2 to a completely unnecessary chapter seeing as 75% of the game was about the characters that comprised the suicide team.

This is not to say that I don't want to see new characters in ME3, but seeing as this is the conclusion to the trilogy, I expect Bioware to go out guns blazing, which for me and many others means having both the squads from ME1 and ME2 return and honestly, if that means delaying the game well into 2012 or even beyond, I'm more than okay with it. At the end of the day, I know Bioware is one of the most talented developers out there and can easily meet this challenge. All they need to do is take their time.
