Some squaddies have good reason not to join Shepard's squad in ME 3.

Of course the writers can come up with a decent reason storywise why our favourites can't come back. This however doesn't change the fact that it would be boring.

I won't be mad over something as trivial as a game but I would probably not buy it when it comes out if I can't have Garrus , Tali and Wrex along to finish what we started in ME1. I might buy it second hand a year or two later though.

I sometimes wonder how they are gonna bring proper closure to the Garrus fans,Ashley fans,Kaidan fans,Liara fans,Miri fans,Thane fans, legion fans,Grunt fans, jack fans, and of course the Tali fans. But than I think of DAO and come to the conclusion that Bioware defintley has what it takes to bring closure to all of the important ME characters.

What about the Jacob fans?

I know I just realized I forgot to mention my boy Jacob. He still owes Shepard a drink.

Jacob has fans? LOLWUT

Just kidding. He has no real reason to avoid returning.

I would like to see Wrex return. Hes my favorite squad member. But Garrus, Tali, one of the VS and Liara should be high candidates.

I don't have a quote, but a developer did say that they value all romances equally.  That might be good news for fans of Ashley and Kaidan, if no one else.

I will be very upset if we can't get the LIs back in our squad. I want to romance all of them so they all need closure. But the only one I really need is Garrus. Actually throw in Tali too so we can have two squadmates that are there for the entire trilogy. But if BioWare doesn't have at least the LIs return as squadmates I can see the forums exploding with all angry threads. Definitely not the route Bioware should go if they want to make the most money.

I want just a select few to return. You know, ones that have insane sniping skills, are passionate about protecting the innocent and have a fondness for the color blue.

Dissapointed. Not mad. It will still have an epic story.

I think it would be realistic that some characters don't return, depending on your decisions from the previous games, and of course the DLC characters. But it would be nice to have them all back.

I thought that made note that those squddies will be returning (hence why its important to keep them alive, as well as the whole romance clash thing if youve romanced two different people in the two games)

And they all have good reasons to stay with Shepard. Reapers are attacking and seemingly no one is absolutely needed elsewhere

it would be an unforgivable act to not include garrus and tali as squadmates. i think bioware knows that. i want confirmation though.. then i want to go in the dark for me3 news. i didnt even want to know the stuff in the reveal trailer. please bioware! tell us!

Considering the ending where the team were on the ship preparing weapons for another battle it'd be weird if they suddenly drop all that to say "Oh well i've decided to go elsewhere have fun with that reaper invasion."

Yeah, just keep Garrus and Tali and you won't really anger me.

Common sense tells me that all the squadmates from ME2 won't be back fro ME3 but the heart want what it wants and I want all ( well almost all ) my squadmates from ME2 to come back for ME3.

Will I be angry If Bioware gets rid of everyone from ME2? Yes however there are certain variables to take into concideration that could lessen my rage, who comes back, who goes, will the missing squadmates from ME2 come back for brief cameos or something more substantial stoyline wise ( still on the Normandy, just not a squadmate, ideal place for Mordin ). Then there is the matter of who will replace these characters.

True.

Though I wouldn't mind if eg. when going to help Migrant Fleet I get a choice to let Tali leave my squad. If she leaves she can help the Fleet to prepare but won't be helping me. But absolutely don't force only 1 option on me (It was just awful in LOTSB when after all the resisting I was only given a choice to nod to Liara's decision. There should atleast be a paragon/renegade check)

And that could lead to complex choices. Migrant Fleet and Geth base both need my help later on which means I have to choose whether I go save Tali or Legion.

As long as my tal-tal is back, either as a prominent roll I can talk to her 'often' and continue the romance from ME2, then I'll be happy. Doesn't have to be an actual combat companion but I would prefer that, more interjected dialog from them that way through out the game. Past that I like em all a lot from both games and blah blah. But really, Tali's the only one I truely give a damn about =P

This. I want to know as little about ME3 as possible but I need to know about Garrus and Tali.

It depends.

If I have to choose between returning squaddies who calibrate the whole game or new squadmates with more dialogue/party-banter/..., I would prefer new squadmates.

Scopin', dropin', collar-popin', muthaf*ckin' Garrus. That is all.

Seriously, though, the only excuse for ME2 squadmates to not return is that it is too expensive to do so. After they hired Martin Sheen, Seth Green, Yvonne Strahovski, and Adam Baldwin to do voices.

Yeah, I think it's safe to say that budget is not an issue.

I belive a wish for a returning Garrus is something of a consensus on these forums at least.
It could be that disk space and time would be a issue though. In this case they should just put it on many disks and take a few more months to finish it, a few may complain about that but that wouldn't be heard over the fanboy cheers over Tali and the fangirl squeals over Garrus.
What could be a after ME3 budget issue though is the loss of potential buyers that kept their favourites alive to have them along for the final battle but was denied this.
