Scopin', dropin', collar-popin', muthaf*ckin' Garrus. That is all.

Seriously, though, the only excuse for ME2 squadmates to not return is that it is too expensive to do so. After they hired Martin Sheen, Seth Green, Yvonne Strahovski, and Adam Baldwin to do voices.

Yeah, I think it's safe to say that budget is not an issue.

Not with the success Bioware has had. With more profits EA put the budget up for the ammount of money they put into their projects.

I'd be mad about everyone except miranda. She's my least favorite character in a video game ever. I killed her on purpose. :) thats what I like about ME 2's ending.

I would like to see Wrex return. Hes my favorite squad member. But Garrus, Tali, one of the VS and Liara should be high candidates.

Yeah it would be kind of cool to have at least the survivours of original gang back. If this will be the case I would buy ME3 the second it comes to my town. This means profit for you EA and BioWare....

I would say that Garrus and Tali would be returning. Probably Jacob and Miranda. If Legion isn't in it I will be angry. He was kind of hyped up to be this crazy awesome geth side-kick but he didn't show up till like, the last hour or 2 of the game. There's too much potential for that character.

Hypotheticals aside, it's unrealistic to assume that everyone from ME2 will be a squaddies in ME3. Sure some of them certainly will, but the story of Mass Effect has always been about shepard, not Shepard and Co.

So that's a definite no to everyone coming back then...

Well, at least I can still play Elder Scrolls V instead.

No, it's just speculation on his part.

I really wouldn't mind. I felt that I got to know them all well enough in ME2. Tbh I felt that Bioware was running out of ideas for Garrus's dialogue by ME2- all he seemed to mention is calibrations and Sidonis- this is because we learned most of his history in ME1- he didn't have much history left. I'd rather they introduced some new, fresh and original squadmates in ME3 rather than risk 'exhausting' the ME2 squaddies as they did with Garrus in ME2.

Hopefully the sniper in the trailer will be a squaddie.

Me.

They would be insane to do that. It would render Mass Effect 2 useless. The majority of ME2 was finding and recruiting the best killers in the galaxy. People love the characters.
Bioware should add a couple of squadmates, perhaps a human male character who doesn't make me want to vomit (the sniper guy looks like a good candidate).

So long as Miranda, Jacob, Mordin, Garrus, Grunt, Jack, Thane, Samara, Tali, Legion, Zaeed, and Kasumi all make it back, I'll buy the game.

I do not want a new team!

If Miranda won't have significant screen presence, I will be mad as hell and post about it.

If Legion doesn't make it back, I will be extremely disappointed.

If Kaidan, Ashley, Jacob and Liara won't have significant screen presence, I can live with it personally but I'll be mad as hell on behalf of their fans.

I don't care so much about the rest but in the end I do not want a new team, so if they all come back, that would be one of the best things that could happen.

Whatever happens, I'll most certainly buy the game because I want to see how the story ends, but if the LIs won't have significant screen presence, I know I can't trust Bioware to create multi-part stories with meaningful character continuity, and I'll remember that.

Not at all. Most ME2 squadies suck (combat-wise) anyway.

Not true... played on insanity with Garrus & Zaeed, gave both Incisor rifle and played through whole game letting them kill everything, I didn't let myself shoot or use any powers at all... they killed things impressively fast.

I cannot repeat this with any other squad members except Thane.... many fights go on for eternity if you only let your squad fight on insanity and don't help them... but Garrus + Zaeed with incisors annihilate everything, and their skillset is perfectly suited to deal with any type of enemy (Collectors, mechs/geth, blue suns etc).

I'd be pretty mad, but more than that I'd be very very surprised. I don't expect them all back, but I would expect to see all of the LIs playing a role.

It's hard to imagine what pressing engagements would keep the loyal squaddies from doing their bit for the galaxy...

Personally, I wouldn't mind if we started off on a blank slate. It could freshen up the game a little.

So long as the characters from ME2/ME1 are given proper and lengthy cameos depending on what we did in those games, I really wouldn't mind if they are not squadmates. Come on, when does a character have to be a squadmate? So long as they are still present in the plot and still talk to Shepard to some degree, I really won't mind.

So far, the new squad looks like this:

1. Ashley/Kaidan
2. Feron
3. The British guy

Something tells me Miranda will still be there, but other than that I can't really tell which me2 squaddies will carry over (except of course for garrus and tali).

I'm thinking it will be something like Thane, Grunt/Wrex, Mordin, Liara, Ashley/Kaiden, Legion, and I can't tell for anyone else. Those just seem like the most 'distinguishable', but its all just guesses at this rate.

As long as Joker stays I am fine. Only one I need and want.

Maybe I can write to others..

But having Garrus and Legion around would be nice too.

I want the majority back... I won't miss Jacob or Samara at all, both were dull, uninteresting characters... with Samara being laughably pandering.

Garrus + Tali are as essential as Shepard to me. So is Kaiden / Ashley and Liara. No Garrus & Tali though and that would severely damage the enjoyment of the game... we need old friends and familiar faces for our journey.... bringing in new people to replace them wouldn't allow us to develop attachments to them the way we have with old members.

Zaeed grew on me fast and he'd be missed as well, despite his minimalistic "screen" time. Would miss him if he wasn't in ME3.

Not having Kasumi would make me quite irritated... the end of her story leaves open a HUGE, cool plot device that MUST be explored in ME3... leaving it just as it is in ME2 would be a slap in the face.

Miranda..... ehhh... I could do without her as well I suppose. She was far too much of a stooge of the illusive man for my liking... She's just eye candy -- as a character, she's very flat. Her voice acting wasn't very strong either... rather stilted / wooden performance... and again, I felt like she was just a pandering tool for teenage boys (ME1 didn't pander to us with overly sexualized females, why did ME2 have to? Miranda was made by marketing people "put busty chick in spandex... you'll sell more games")

Thane is pretty interesting and I'd certainly like to see him go out in a blaze of glory in ME3, rather than wither away from his illness.

Mordin is a must as well... he offers too much comic relief to pass up on, plus his loyalty mission was a very powerful / emotional story... would feel like I lost a good buddy if he wasn't around. Plus he's Salarian... need a Salarian on the team.

Grunt? Meh... he's okay I guess.. never was a huge fan.. probably because I was too annoyed at not having Wrex in ME2 as a squaddie and Grunt felt like a mediocre replacement for my old pal.

Legion... gotta have him... he's too damn interesting not to have around. I suspect he'll actually be pretty important in ME3, probably have something to do with getting help from the Geth or helping the Geth and Quarians make peace. Would be pissed to lose him.

Garrus - probably returning. been in every game and popular.

Grunt - unless bioware doesn't give us another token krogan, i doubt he'll be returning

Jack - not so sure. possible LI, so i wouldn't count her out.

Jacob - didn't everyone hate him? he probably won't be back.

Kasumi - DLC character. probably not coming back.

Legion - love him, but i don't think so.

Miranda - same as jack pretty much.

Mordin - too old

Samara/Morinth - don't think so.

Tali - same as garrus.

Thane - he might be too sick by this point in time.

Zaeed - same as Kasumi

Liara - returning in some way. might not necessarily be as a squad mate.

Ashley - returning if alive

Kaidan - returning if alive

Wrex - doubt it

Joker - of course

/end speculation

Garrus - Back to lead the Turian division of Shepard's Galactic Alliance.

Grunt - Fighting as a squadmate next to Battlemaster Shepard for the chance to kill 'big things'.

Jack - If LI, will surely stay. Otherwise may stay or not.

Jacob - Will stay because of his sense of duty.

Kasumi - Probably sent off to some long term stealth/infiltration mission and only come back in the end.

Legion - Will surely stay as Geth Liasion and Shepard's No.1 Fan. May be sent of for extended missions into Geth Space to rally armies for Shepard.

Miranda - Will surely stay with Shepard to preserve Humanity.

Mordin - Will probably die of old age, or stay to study Reaper technology out of curiosity.

Samara - Will definitely stay because Reapers are the greatest source of injustice in the universe. Also specifically stated in ME2 that she "will come for you".

Tali - Will be on the Quarian Admiraty Board persuading the Quarians to make peace with Geth and bring the Migrant Fleet to fight the Reapers. Unlikely to be a squad member throughout ME3.

Thane - Will most likely have died/been incapacitated because he had a 8 month life expectancy in ME2.

Zaeed - Will most likely leave because he's a mercenary who fights for money.

Liara - Will not be a squadmate most of the time, but will be the Chief of Intelligence in Shepard's Alliance and appear frequently.

Ashley/Kaidan - Will lead a vanguard fleet of the System Alliance Navy in support of Shepard.

Wrex - Will lead the Krogan Hoard in support of Shepard.

Joker - Will pilot Normandy SR2/Whatever cool new ride of Shepard's.

I've been partial to the theory that they're bringing everyone back (minus Zaeed and Kasumi since they're DLC) and if you got any of them killed in ME2 you just won't be able to use them. It would both make fans of certain squad members happy that they're favorite character is coming back and make our end game decisions from ME2 mean more (i.e. if you messed up and got someone killed in ME2 you've got to live with it in ME3).

If I had to put money on it, the following are my guesses to return as squad members (assuming that is Bioware's plan):
Kasumi (No real plot reasoning behind this, but would Bioware waste time/effort to make a full DLC character, albeit a generally popular one, just to scratch them in ME3?  Unlikely.)

Tali (Very obvious plot reasons, but plot aside, I'm pretty sure there would be a substantial uprising of Tali fans against Bioware if they do not include her)

Garrus (Seems to be everyone's favorite "bro" squadmate, and besides he is easily the most loyal to Shepard)

Legion (As someone else already pointed out, he is Shepard's biggest fan and is wildly popular among ME players.  As far as the plot goes, it is likely that he will be instrumental in orchestrating the realignment of Heretic and non-Heretic Geth, if you didn't destroy them)

Miranda and Jacob (Not really the most popular squadmates, but they pretty much ditched Cerberus at the end of ME2.  Where else would they find work with former employment by Cerberus on their records?)

Wrex (Assuming he survived in ME1, and again, another fan-favorite.  Also, he remembers and appreciates what Shepard did for him, and will be more than willing to go to war alongside him)

Ashley/Kaidan (Bioware is pretty much obligated to return them, although the plot could very well go on without them)

Everyone else seems pretty disposable to me.  They will go off and do their own things and may make a cameo or two in ME3.  The sniper from the teaser seems like a possible new squadmate to me.  Everyone has had so much grief with him knowing who Shepard was but not knowing what the Reapers were or what they were doing.  Think about it like this, you're premiering a new video game to the world for the first time, and many people watching don't know anything about Mass Effect.  Do you spoil everything about it in the 1 minute teaser or let people get interested and want to play the story out themselves?  It made sense to me why they made the soldier seem a bit uninformed.

I want my squad with me and ready to go when I beging ME3. If the trailer is anything t go buy, then we need to hit the ground running. No time to go around recruiting people.
