And that's why nobody should care. This trailer, like the ME1 teaser (noveria vs Liara), is not canon, so any detail in this teaser is not important.candidate88766 wrote...
the trailer was presumably made by an outside cgi company not Bioware, hence the small irregularities like the incisor only firing one shot or the reapers appearing the same
Why do the Reapers in the Trailer look like Sovereign clones?

I wish they had never made the "takes on the appearance of the species" claim. I certainly don't like the "shell" explanation. But whatever, I was more annoyed by all the identical ME2 gunships buzzing around. Come on, BW.
Why wouldn't the gunships be identicle? Aren't today's gunships identicle? Yes.

In any case, I don't see why the Reapers would be even a little different in the first place. Look at the geth, all identical. Only exception is Legion, we've seen geth upclose before, they never had little mobile faceplates to express their supposedly non-existant emotions before. Appearently someone decided that Legion wasn't human enough, I thought that was the point.
Tangent, I don't see why Legion would look through a scope. He's got a mechanical "eye" it's probably got more resolution than a human's and can probably zoom in dozens of x's optically, and some more digitally. Plus, unlike our human guestimate based nervous system Legion can probably tell exactly where he's pointing his gun at all times based on the relative alignment of his arms, hands, and various positions of servo-motors and what not, without the need to aim by lining up reference points optically. Which leads me to question how we biologicals can precisely aim a Geth pulse riffle when it probably has no such optical aiming system built in... maybe we mod them or something....
Back on subject, kinda, I'm just glad there's no giant human skeleton flying through space...

But there's nothing but gunships... It is so obvious they were the only assets they had on hand to give to the CG team. The scene just looked silly without other types of hardware mixed in.

Possible, I haven't seen any non space ship military hardware flying around in an atmoshpere though. What else is there?
Granted, a trailer is supposed to show off all the shiny new things to some extent, but it's also just one little snapshot of a particular event. Statistically speaking what are the chances that it would show case all the new stuff? Slim at best.
Also if the Reapers have recruited a particular faction to help them it would make sense that those guys would be operating all the same equipment. If it was one Merc group of course they would all be flying the same gunships, because that faction uses those gunships.
My only question is who the f is flying those gunships???? I wouldn't expect the heavily indoctrinated to be all that great at flying... too many nervous ticks mwahahaha!

I thought it looked cool. Just wish it made the story look bigger than Earth. Not that it won't be but still...
If it isn't then may God have mercy on BioWare's immortal souls.

Can we wait until after the release of ME 3 before we condemn them to the fires below? LOL

I'm just criticizing the trailer's aesthetics. It looked goofy to me. It really has nothing to do with the game though, so we can probably move on from it.
This is basically the explanation that people are giving for the question that titles this thread. It's very disappointing that these trailers aren't alligned accurately with the stories of the games they are supposed to represent - at least when it comes to the little details.
