So as the title states I have taken images from the recent Mass Effect 3 world premier video on GameTrailers at 720p and have produced wallpapers with them. Now granted they are not sharp and clear since the screenshots were taken of a 720p video veiwed in fullscreen on a 1680x1050 monitor, but until Bioware starts handing out higher res imgaes I'm running on this.

Here are some of the other backgrounds for your desktop (low resolution, get higher resolution in my Photobucket Album).





This last picture was very interesting and fun to put together. The picture showing the reapers' attack of a city from the video was made by taking 6 different screenshots of 6 different shots in the Premier video and compiling, fitting, and cleaning them up to form that picture. If you want just a shot of the reaper attack please post saying so and I'll jump right on it.

Thanks, I was just sill getting over my hype of the official announcement of ME3 and the trailer that I wanted to get some backgrounds going since none have been officially released yet. Also please feel free to use the pictures as you see fit.

These are cool, but sadly at high resolutions they appear to be slightly out of focus which I find annoying. But I know no one can do anything about it.

@Scooter79rs: Yes sadly the quality of the higher resolution images is a bit blury, but once Bioware starts releasing higher resolution images/videos I'll make amends to them and hopefully up their quality.

Now here are some more; I wanted to try putting the reaper destruction in its own  setting and I think it worked out quite well, the other image with the marine and burning city I feel is still a work in progress and will update later on if progress is made.

EDIT: Actually now that I look at it I think I ruined the second picture XD. If you agree please say so and I'll stop my confused, second guessing work on that picture and start on something else.

@Lastpatriot: That is very true XD Must say the background you posted is awsome, I'm sure many other femsheps will be pleased. I'll look into creating some.

@ChuckNorris18: Thanks for fixing it, I just forgot that picture was offered in 1680x1050 only, which I'll be offereing the others in too. Also nice addition you have there.


EDIT: I have fixed an issue with the first image 'Mass Effect 3 v1' and now have a 16:9 version that only requires scaling by the user to fit their 16:9 ratio screen. The original resolution of the 16:9 version is 1680x945 (16:9) and should look fine on lower resolution 16:9 screens (after scaling). I'm currently in the process of converting/sharing the backgrounds in multiple ratios (16:10, 16:9, and 4:3).

A very humble contribution.  Sorry about the resolution...it's at a weird 2000x1250.

I decided to focus on the London Burning aspect with a FemShepard, but I deliberately left it open-ended...it's not clear what her face, or indeed her expression...should look like.  I leave that decision to each of you.

Although the location is London, the setting is also deliberately ambiguous.  It could be FemShepard reflecting on the situation at the start of ME3 or at the end.  Is she angry?  Or does she finally have time to grieve?  Up to you.

Thanks for the encouragement, but we both know this still isn't quite right yet.  I can't put my finger on it, but I'm still not that satisfied.

But here's the source image!  It's a background from the now defunct Hellgate: London.  Check it out, it's got some cool designs that I think will appeal to you.

But in the meantime, for the 1st time, I made something I actually think is decent myself.  You know how many people have voiced out about Squad Members in ME3?  This is my response, humble yet significant:

As fellow Desktop designers, I think you can appreciate the "trick" here, my little visual misdirection.  The problem has always been that our source material for these wallpapers, the ME3 debut trailer, was NOT that hi-res.  When we stretched it, it seems very low-res.

I got around this by surrounding Shepard with hi-res extracts from my personal ME2 screenshot folder, who also cover the space view.  The result - it just seems like the camera's focused on the Squad Members rather than Shepard or the background, thus dismissing the low-res as out-of-focus!

It also tells a story.  Of course, what is Shepard feeling?  But also, what are his loyal Squad Members thinking?

Overall, I think I did an ok job this time, seriously.  But I looked at Lord Penguin's image...and I'm wondering if I could touch up the colours?  At the same time, I think I prefer a darker image, as it fits the mood better.
