 I have a Christmas tradition where I get the urge to play Mass Effect at the end of every year, this year I have a really annoying problem that is preventing me from playing the game I want to. Namely I cannot select any charm/intimidate dialog options despite having enough points.

I'm at Feros, specifically the part where you talk down the corporate-executive from destroying the colony (on the drive back from the big sky building). After some talking, I'm given the generic good/bad dialog choices yet I can't select either of them. I thought I had enough (looking it up, you only need about 10 points each to have the options), so I reload to the beginning of the mission and just do it over to build my paragon stats. After a couple of hours I get back to the same point, and STILL both options are grayed out. Finally I reload one more time and cheat by setting both paragon/renegade points to max. This lets me select the intimidation dialog, but not the charm dialog.

Any idea whats going on? I've never seen this happen, and googling it comes up with zilch.

For the record I did use cheats before I got that far, but only the all items cheat (except for "setparagon/renegade" when experimenting above) . I've played the game before so I'm not really spoiling myself story-wise.
