Roll with me on this:
An ancient race is left to excel, evolve, and ultimately, advance in technological might. They reach a climax. And then, wars are raged planet wide. There species faces an ultimatum. Fight, or live on. Scientists constructed a deathly construct, one that would ultimately preserve their kind. Something goes wrong, and eventually, a reaper is born. So, the original reaper harvests life, gaining momentum and energy, maybe even replicating its form in the model of another reaper, but maybe not.
This reaper will eventually have friends right? Created from other species? Well, I have a theory.
The very Original Reaper....it created the others, and subsequently , they are all indoctrinated. The very first one, he indoctrinated the next space faring race, and then the next, and the next, and the cycle continues. It was the only way he could do it.
There is a master reaper out there, all of the rest are pawns.

I really like this idea.
1st, it's the idea that organic life created a machine to solve its problems, but the machine realised that organic life itself was the problem. It's the irony.
2nd, the idea of the original Reaper enslaving the other Reapers to enslave others...I like that, too. Mainly for the idea that there was an original Reaper, the First of the Fallen, sort of thing.
Nice one.

No it doesn't have to be a boss fight...I'm just explaining what probably happened with the Reapers.....and I think that it's a pretty solid theory too....I mean....it makes sense....haha it was like an epiphany I had...the answer is right in front of our faces.

Exactly. It's like Saren. He was able to think for himself for the time being....and maybe the other Reapers can too, but they are being Indoctrinated too.
Wow...what if Shepard actually saves the Reapers?
This cycle is like enslavement to them.

Not according to Sovereign:
"We are each a nation. INDEPENDENT. Free of all weakness."

Actually, when I thought of this, I believe that Sovereign's quote meant that they all exist as independent machines. Plus....think of it.....they have the power of INDOCTRINATION. There was always the first space faring species, and the FIRST Reaper. Don't you think he would indoctrinate more and more?
And, the Boss could have indoctrinated them all enough to say that.....or he could have control over them all.
Either way, each of the reapers WERE made of different species, so they are independent in nature, but honestly, read between the lines here. The first Reaper is the enemy.....the rest are enslaved husks who are along for the ride.
The Sniper and Vigil each said that the attacks were well coordinated. -One mind my friend. One omnipotent being who can use endless amounts of impeccable machines at his disposal. It can very well be the truth.

While I find no issue with the logic of your theory I would just like to point out that that is an age old well trod plot line in the history of SF. Also I like the fact that these games have avoided the concept that AI MUST inevitably decide that its creators are the enemy (up until the oh so flawed ending anyway). And even if the starkid claims it must be so, your experience with EDI and the true Geth certainly seem to bely such a narrow view.
As to Shepard being the first Reaper, that would require some time paradox, which honestly I think would take an entire game to explore. Not saying its a bad idea, just thought id point that out.

So in mass effect 4 we will play as a reaper who joined galactic as human to study them and we later find out it's Shepard =D
