What kind of citation? Let's just say this is first hand information.

The Reaper model used in the trailer is exactly 2km big.

How do you know?

I'd rather not get into details, please trust me on this one. The Reapers and everything else is of the right size, at the right place, the perspective of the camera might be what tricks some people.

Wow, I think you all need to rewatch the trailer again they looked the right size to me they made the skyscrapers and Big Ben look absolutely tiny in comparison.

Who's to say that every Reaper is the same size?

It's kind of hard to believe you since you're not providing a viable/valid source. . . .

Wouldnt the size of the Reaper an issue if it tries to enter our atmosphere? I mean, a 20KM long object just bursting through our sky might be an issue. :)

Everything happens pretty fast but I suggest slowing things down frame by frame and watching those last few shots. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Well, just for you - I'm the modeling supervisor at the studio who did the trailer. I personally made sure about stuff like getting the Reapers' size right, being a long time ME fan and all.

But sorry, no more answers about anything; I'm not even sure if it's okay for us to talk about stuff like the above.

The only reaper we know of now, was about 2km only, though they probably have shields protecting them from entering atmosphere, Soverign (again, don't indoctrinate me just becasue I can't seem to be able to spell your name) did it with Eden Prime after all.

There could be varying kinds of reapers, for all we know its more of a reaper scout force (capable of destroying planets of course).

At the same time from a trailer standpoint it would be really hard to show 4-5 2km long super cuttlefish in one shot.

Yanno, it COULD be possible that all of you think that 2 km is much bigger than it actually is. It can happen before. As an example, in the movie Cloverfield when the Statue of Liberty's head got thrown down the street, it appeared MUCH larger than it actually was. The CGI team actually rendered it at actual size, but test audiences wondered why the head was so small. Surprise surprise.

i think that the reapers are different because in ME2 they seen a human reaper so they all might be different sizes and shapes like the reaper in ME and ME2 were so different because in ME2 the reaper had 4 glowing eyes and the first reaper didn't have 4 glowing eyes.

I think it would actually be cool if there were different sizes, because as a "species", you would think there would be variance.

Also anyone else curious if the Reapers are gonna do a straight orbital bombardment? In 2 there were several planets that were wiped out with precision bombing. I wonder if this will show up in 3.

I was very impressed with Blur's research and attention to detail, for the ME2 trailer. Their London representation (possibly stock, mind) being accurate enough for one guy to pinpoint the location of the sniper, from the early teaser snippet, with Google Earth comparison snapshots to prove it. :)

Heh, I already wrote a book about this in the trailer discussion:

Edited out superfluous content, and I added some bolden emphasis if it's tl;dr for you...

Thought #3: The Reapers are not smaller, calm the F' down.

Ya'll seem to forget about this thing called "perspective..."

...

NOW: Look at the trailer, what do we see? We only get a quick glimpse of the Reapers---they're on screen for about 7 seconds, from 0:45 to 0:52. We also ge this glimpse as part of a massive panoramic sweep of all of London. This is a masssive camera pan, take for a minute and think about the scale of *everything* in the shot. Then consider that we never get a good look at the reapers. In 7 seconds we see 4 reapers in the midst of this rapid and incredibly deep camera pan.

The reaper furthest back is some miles away, on the horizon of the shot, and therefore appears small: It looks exactly the same size Sovereign looked on Eden Prime when you saw it from far away... If anything, it looks bigger than soveriegn since it seems to be a similar size from a greater distance. The distance here is greater than 10 miles, IMO.

The next closest Reaper is still far away. It is across the river from Big Ben, which a quick trip to google maps will tell you is a distance between 1.2~1.7 miles, depending one exactly where that bad boy is on the other bank. At this distance, still a rather large distance, the panorama contains all of Big Ben, but just the "tentacles" of the closer reaper ship. Obviously this reaper is massive in scale.

Finally, the closest reaper drops a tentacle right next to Big Ben. This Tentacle alone completely dwarfs big ben:
http://fc06.devianta...szi-d34szls.png

In fact, this tip of the tentacle is bigger than the entire clock tower, roughly double the height. Lets do some math, shall we? The tower is 316 feet tall, acording to Wikipedia. So if we assume that a tentacle tip is 632 feet long, and we look at the earlier picture of Sovereign that I posted next to the geth ships, where the entire length of sovereign is about 16 or 17 tentacle tips, then we could estimate the last reaper in the trailer to be about 10,112~11,744 feet long. This gives a total reaper length of 2 miles, the exact same size of the derelict reaper from ME2. http://masseffect.wi...Derelict_Reaper

In short, the reapers are the correct size.

On the other hand, appearantly anyone can claim they aren't as well.

I don't see much actual proof aside "my eyes tell me it's so". Closest actual research being done where people used measurements of known structures came up with numbers that actually supported that the sizes seemed right.

I think it was the location that made Sovereign seem bigger, because the citadel was so small. Well, not really, but much smaller than earth at least.

This is all tricking your eyes. They're the same size, but the location makes them seem smaller. The citadel made sovereign seem bigger.

Reapers are as big as they always were. Sadly, most of the time we didn't have the sense of scale to compare them to. Sure, we saw them against buildings, but we didn't even know how big those were, ergo, no sense of scale.

This time, we do.

Reapers aren't Unicron. Sovereign clocked at 2km long, that's roughly fourteen times the London Eye's height, from the screen cap on the previous page, that seems about right. The Reaper closest to it doesn't even have 1/3 of its body in the camera's view, after all. And even then, it's the Reaper closest to it, not directly above or at its side or in front of it.

The reapers look smaller because there is more tall things all around the Reapers for them. Plus, the reapers are being compared actual things rather then fictitious things. If you compare a person who is 6 feet with someone who is 4 feet, the guy who is 6 feet will seem pretty big. But if you compare that same 6 feet guy with someone who 5'10, then the height difference is reduced and make the 6 feet guy look shorter.

If you look sovereign isnt that huge compared to the dreadnoughts but he seems bigger then the reapers from the teaser trailer.

The only Dreadnought in that battle is the Destiny Ascension.

wikipedia says that reapers in mass effect 3 range from 500 meters to 2 km so yeah, they all range from size and some are shorter then others, rembr, the reapers probably sent in their pawns first, the smaller of the bunch
