I would have more sympathy for her if she wasn't flirting with my fiance right in front of my face.

Waaaaaaaaait a minute, if you're talking about Return to Ostagar, Alistair made the first flirtatious comment to Wynne.

Darn it, how did this thread turn to yet more Wynne hate overnight? Is there no respite?

I don't consider being blatently hypocritical as setting a good example.  Do you?

She's a competent healer and a good listener. She has a healthy view on magic and she tried to make the best of what has happened to her.

Some of her dialogues can be frustrating, as you can never really challenge her views and her crisis moments are not exactly well developed.

She's sometimes hypocritical, but many people are and I can deal with that.

Noo, he called her an oldster, and she said, I'll teach you a thing or two, whipper snapper.

This pretty much sums her up.

Yeah, at the start. Then he was all like "If I may say so, my lady, you are looking younger by the day" in a husky voice.

And I was like "Go for it Alistair! Live the dream!" 'Cuz he wasn't getting laid in my game otherwise.

He just felt sorry for the old biddy.

I would like to know what the writers where smoking when they came up with that one.

You keep telling yourself that, if it'll help you sleep at night.

But I loved that scene, and I can hardly fault Alistair for acknowledging the hotness of Wynne.

Too bad. It was nice to have one place to talk about the character that wasn't full of bile. I would have thought that all the hate in the other threads was enough, and that people who like the character might have been allowed one place to discuss her. Ah, well.

The other fan threads have their share of bile - why should Wynne's be special? Image IPB Does it have something to do with "the Fade shining out her bum"?

The issue is that no one has posted anything that can facilitate discussion aside from the usual "Wynne sux for X reasons." We need to offer a topic that can actually spark, y'know, a conversation.

So here's my attempt: what's your favourite moment involving Wynne? Was it funny, heartwarming or just awesome?

As the OP mentioned, Wynne really grew on my CE character when I told her about my past and she actually agreed with me when I said that Vaughan deserved what he got.

I was also a bit teary hearing about her son.

Wynne's voice actress is terrific. How she conveys emotion is brillliant. That shines through when Wynne tells Alistair about her son. Very quiet, almost matter of fact, but packed with emotion.

Does she? I haven't gotten that far in my CE playthrough, but it doesn't surprise me that she would react that way. I look forward to having that conversation.

I generally play a Cousland, a character who recently lost her mother--a woman also prone to giving out no-nonsense advice--and Wynne came to feel like a surrogate mother. It felt really good when she changed the mind about the relationship with Alistair. Although in retrospect, she was right. The selfishness that she talked about led directly to the dark ritual.

One of my favorite banter lines of hers is 'I suppose I won't be using that particular trick to entertain children at parties."

Favourite Wynne moment? Hmm. Probably when finding Bevin, in Redcliffe.

"Go away! This isn't your home!"
"Young man, come out this instant"
"...Y-yes ma'am"

When she asks you about your past, you have to specifically say "Duncan saved me from prison after I killed an arl's son for raping my friend." After she apologizes for bringing it up and you comment "the bastard deserved it," she comments that she finds the cold satisfaction in your voice to be frightening, but she probably would have done the same.

Heh, that's one of my favorites, too. I laughed out loud.

I have a favorite Wynne moment!  Can I share?  It's right here!  *sigh*  No, she's not getting decapitated.  Talk about a complete squee moment for me.  Yes, even Wynne can sometimes admit when she's wrong.

But honestly, they don't.  You don't see a pile of Alistair-hate in the Alistair gush thread, for example, though there's plenty of Alistair hate elsewhere.

I have been in love with Wynne ever since RTO... I don't really understand the hate some people have towards her.

Anyway that was my two cents *goes back to lurking*

Irving and Greagoir are worried about abominations, not so much blood mages.  Greagoir says "if even one abomination got out..."  It's Cullen who is paranoid about blood mages.

Greagoir is slacking at his job.

I think it's a question of priorities.  Besides, as Irving points out, the Grey Wardens are beyond their jurisdiction.  Though Rylock disapproves -100.

P.S. I found and necro'ed the Abominable Wynne thread so all us haters can go do what we love to do over there.  I always loved that thread.  Image IPB

I think that says it all as to her attitude towards and lack of respect for Gray Wardens.
