This has probably been answered a billion times, but here goes.

I have a full playthrough with my Shepard where he's basically done everything in both ME1 and ME2. Every planet discovered, mined, did all missions, all dialogues, etc. etc.

I'm doing another playthrough with the same character on a higher difficulty level, but don't really feel like talking to everyone again, going to every planet again, etc.

If I don't do everything everytime, are the benefits not going to show up in ME3? I figured they still would, since it's a "special" save, but I wasn't sure.

This is my guess based on ME1's transfer to ME2. You get the benefits if you did the mission in your current playthrough. That is, you have to use your final save with the full playthrough. Your new playthrough where you did not do everything. is treated completely seperate from the other.

That said, i'm not exactly sure if mining and discovering planets impacts on ME3 much if at all.

You'll probably miss out on choices you'd otherwise import that you now no longer import....quite a few of the side quests are recorded and imported into ME2 that never affect ME2 itself but are likely to show up in ME3.

Yeah, I made a separate save for my full playthrough, which is just going to stay stored on that character, and I'm using a whole different save + quick saves for the current difficulty.

So when I load ME3 I guess I just have to load that full playthrough character.
