I found some fun things on my first play of ME2. But found a lot of things disappointed and annoyed me. So the more I played it the less I liked it. So I don't play it and no I don't like it.

Liked it, thought there could be improvements to certain ideas. Club music was ballin', fighting was somewhat linear and repetitive, loyalty missions ranged from 'eh' to kickass, main story was somewhat flat. Characterization was great if a bit on-the-nose at times.

It is easily the best game I have ever played on the xbox, and was a huge leap forward from ME1.  I appreciate that the original is responsible for getting this series started, but ME1 is a painful, painful game to play, especially on the xbox.

I like ME2's TV show structure.  Only certain "episodes" tie directly into the main plot, and that works for me.  There are just enough hints of Collector danger to keep them relevant, and the surprising schedule of Collector missions (and the inability to choose other missions when these emerge) means that, at least on your first playthrough, the Collectors really are dangerous and unpredictable opponents.

I greatly enjoy ME2's combat.  The weaponry and powers are engaging and well designed.  Difficulty is handled in such a way that enemies become more dangerous, not just more resilient.  The added defenses they gain do more than just increase their HP.  These defenses make the enemies temporarily resistant to powers that would otherwise break the game, and force players to use different strategies to succeed.

The classes are so much better now than they were before.  They have unique powers, truly separating them from one another.  Although there is overlap, each class plays differently.  And there are multiple ways to play each class effectively (or ineffectively, if you're looking for a challenge).

I don't miss the inventory.  I prefer the loadout.  I don't miss the old overheating weapon system.  Ammo, even if it warranted a confusing retcon, is a better fit, at least for me.

The characters are intriguing and I care about all of them, though some more than others.  I won't pretend every loyalty mission is still a joy to experience on the ~14th playthrough, though.

I also won't pretend the game is perfect.  Mining sucks, let's be honest.  Global cooldowns are interesting and force you to think about each power that you use in high pressure situations.  But are they the perfect solution to ME1's ~60 second individualized cooldowns?  Probably not.  It's a step in the right direction, though.  Squadmate AI could use improvements, although it has come a long way.

My second most favorite RPG of all time (KOTOR is still better), and one of the best games ever made. It's miles of miles away from games like ME1 or Fallout.

The haters are just a very vocal minority

I think Mass Effect 2 is up there with Resident Evil 4, and Deus Ex as one of the best games I have ever played.

Easily in my top 10. ME and ME2 are constantly fighting it out though for the number one spot

I easily enjoyed Mass Effect 2's combat more. It had more distinct classes, more actual variety in guns (since in ME1, all guns of the same type were basically the same), the added dimension of defenses, and just overall a better feel.

I also thought ME2 did an excellent job with your companions. ME1 did have good characters, but ME2's crew was superior in my opinion. The Illusive Man was also an excellent character. ME2 also added more depth to the universe with its loyalty missions - we got to explore things like the Migrant Fleet and the genophage in greater detail.

ME1 had a better over-arching plot, however. ME2 was really about your crew - its overall plot of the Collectors wasn't very compelling. I also liked ME1's atmosphere better - ME2 at times felt too Star Wars-y, where ME1 had a more hard sci-fi atmosphere in. I think this is demonstrated in comparing the look and feel of the SR-1 and the SR-2, where the first has a distinct military, realistic feel, where the second was more shiny and polished - and thus to me didn't feel as real.

I prefer replaying ME2 because the combat is so much better, and since I've been through the stories of both games enough, I generally replay to try new classes.

What kind of question is this. Of course I like... no, Love Mass Effect 2

Gameplay is much better, and fluid (and squaddies no longer shoots those poor boxes to death)

Story is engaging, and really epic (yeah it has some flaws, but wich story doesn't). Just think about the suicide mission. Pure awesomeness! I was sitting in my chair after that, picking my jaw up from the floor. I even forgave that terminator-reaper.

Dumbed down RPG elements... Hmm, that hurts a little still, but the gameplay and the awesome dialoges made up for it. And in ME1 that part had a little too much calculating and percentages. In 2 it was simpler, but too simpler.

Fewer weapons? I'd say ME2 had more weapons, because they all were different in their firing methods, and had more models. In ME1 there were only two models for each weapon

(that two carried over for ME2), and they were all the same in their firing speed, sound and all... so that's it.

Customizable armor for Shepard? Awesome. Unique armors for squaddies? Awesome. No REAL armor, and helmet for squaddies? WTF?

And music. So many people cries back the ME1 music. But I don't know why. That gave me little emotional connection to the game. The endng was Ok. In ME2? Wow! Pure epic soundtrack. I still listening to it every day on the way to work, or shopping... Great music all the way. The Suicide Mission track is just.. WOW. And the Long Walk? Gives me the chills. My favourite soundtrack of all time....

So yeah. ME2 won for me in almost every aspect. It had some flaws, but wich game hasn't...

Is this shock? Or you want an explanation ?
I really love ME1. All of it , story , characters, yes even changing companion armors, inventory , and the mako . ME1 is my favorite game ever.  I didn't like the story for ME2. The characters were ok but I don't have an attachment to them. My favorites from ME1 are Ash, Kaidan, Wrex and Liara. Bioware sidelined my favorite characters and chose a story for ME2 that to me felt like a reboot more than a continuation. ME2 by itself is a fine game I guess. I guess in bioware's quest to make ME2 so stand alone and improve it in their minds they took out alot of things I really liked or even loved. So it irratated me. The more I played the more irratated I got. Now its to the point were I just don't play it. Actually haven't played since March and I pre ordered the collectors editon of ME2 because I loved ME1.  Every one is entitled to their opinions. This one is mine.  : )

I thought it was good, to make it perfect they should have added slightly more depth to the Armour/Weapons and Stats. ME1 was a bit OTT but ME2 was a little underdone.

ME2 is awesome. Flawed, but awesome. In fact, I'm glad that it's flawed, because that means that ME3 can improve upon it, therefore reducing the risk of letting me down.

Huzzah, ME2!

Story wise? Eh. I didn't like it, but I didn't hate it. I thought the romances were rushed and crammed into the game as an after thought. The plot didn't make a whole lot of sense really. Focusing on the collectors with the reapers around, etc, etc. It reminded me very much of filler.

Gameplay wise? I loved it. The combat was a thousand times better, the abilities were more fun. Playing the game was more fun the ME1, but seeing the story unfold was not very satisfying. So, I'm gonna repeat what someone else said here and say as a game, I liked it alot, but as ME1's sequel, I was disappointed.

Awesome Game but, story-wise, felt like an expansion pack
