Mass Effect 1 has gotten quite old for a game that is still selling a few copies to new people.  There just aren't many of the long-term game players still on hand to answer questions any more.  Add to that, the change from the previous, popular Legacy style forums to this type didn't connect with the entire community, and thus far, just hasn't replaced those that were disappointed.  Other than the ME-3 forums, and Off Topic, most of the place is pretty dead.

Any of you new arrivals with questions need to realize that almost anything at all that could have gone wrong with the PC game (that's the version I'm concerned with, anyway) has already happened, and been reported about in the forum, so you can look the threads up instead of hoping someone might drop in here for old time's sake.  This is particularly true when a common problem is one that has been reported over and over and over, until everyone is bored to death with it.

The local Search function is both not very good, and not at all well identified, but you can very easily add a site: redirector to a Google or Yahoo search, aiming that back to here.

Please don't waste forum space with the same antiquated old questions all over again UNTIL AFTER YOU SEARCH. Once you have seen what has already been discussed, if you still have to know more, follow Chris' guide to problem reporting.  It's pinned here on top showing my name as author.

Generally speaking, if you haven't found what you needed in the archives, it is best to start your own personal post here, rather than piggybacking onto an old message that has nothing it it that helped you (just say that you searched, and didn't find anything).

If everything you see matched up is all a year old, you used the wrong tool.  Here in the forums, the Find function is broken.  Use Bing, Google, Yahoo, whatever, and the site redirector.

Posting the same old questions all over again won't get answers. There just aren't that many readers, and the old questions are far too boring. Use the archives, or use the official EA support.

The same situation continues to apply. There was a temporary blip a month ago in some Social Site forums, but that was only transitory. Use the archives if you want answers, really.

I know that spillover from the runup to ME-3's release is appearing, and people who should not do so are buying ME-1 now, but there still aren't any numbers of experienced gamers on hand to assist with polite hand-holding for still more of the same repeated old crap. (NOTE: If ME-1 won't work with your tinker toy Intel video chip, neither will ME-3. )

It's only a week to ME-3's release.  No one is reading any other tech forums' questions.

There's almost no one in here to be patient with your constant repetition of the same old stuff all over again.  The answers are in the archives.

At first it was funny, in the same way as the foolish antics of Curley Stooge are, but after the 500th or  the 1000th time, watching the new arrivals wander in wearing their blindfolds, running into walls, tripping over furniture, it gets boring.

Open your eyes, people, use the resources available, put on your vision correction.

After the Legacy forums for ME-1 were locked down, and eventually closed, only PC game players were coming to this newer forum. Very few console players have ever visited here. PCs add dimensions to gaming in two ways, Because of innate flexibility, they can do more.

That very flexibility divides up the gamers into separate little boxes that must be carefully identified to diagnose problems, so PCs both give something new, while at the same time making other aspects more difficult. Thus, the need for good identification from the start.
