I mean origins had flaws (particularly post landsmeet regarding Alistair and alsothe epilogue slides) but awakening was frankly a broken game when it was released and it took 5 months to get fixed...then Witch Hunt was broken when it was released and it took a month to get fixed...with all the complaining (or hyping) of different features of the game this does not seem to be addressed and for me anyway is probably the biggest reason to pre-order or not to pre-order...has this been talked about anywhere?

Once you install the game, your computer will punch you in the face and steal your wallet.

I sent that bug, but got it back marked "Works as Designed". Posted Image

Nice to see that the bad quality and state of the recent games/dlc  upon release does not get a serious answer...wait that actually does answer my question..thanks...

You expect a serious answer to a rhetorical question? Posted Image

well with all do respect. it wasn't a rhetorical question if asked about either Awakening or Witch Hunt....so yeah maybe a comment such as yes, because of the problems with Awakening and Witch Hunt we have increased/changed or quality control standards, and while we cannot guarantee no bugs, we can say it will be in a better state than awakening was...you sound as though we should have no such concerns or that the most recent product released came out in tip top shape with no major issues...

You know nobody plans to have bugs, right?

If I told you that the game would have less bugs because we have increased/changed our quality control standards, would you even believe me? Mind you, I don't know what that would even be. I guess we're supposed to look harder for those bugs? Yes, harder. For you. I'll let QA know.

(I am clearly not the person to ask, just being a writer. Sorry!)

what I am disappointed in and concerned with is that there seems to be a direct correlation between development time and quality upon release in the dragon age series...that is a fact based on the releases in the series so far...I simply would like to hear someone from Bioware acknowledge that the last few releases even were seriously flawed...I mean how can quality improve if no one even admits it has been lacking...

Do we have to admit it to you specifically, or acknowledge it in public, in order for quality to improve on a subsequent product? Because that seems like a very inefficient way of improving. i mean, you're not on the development team, not an employee of the company, heck, you may not even be working in the same industry and likely not a shareholder! And ultimately, what can you do about it? You can choose to buy the next product or not, the same way you can even if we never tell you anything about it. What changes?

We give sarcastic responses largely because we are in a lose-lose position here. We can't very well personally reassure every single person who's having doubts and starts one of these threads. At some point, people--and that's the general gaming public and not individual gamers--will either have to believe us or don't. our answers are always going to be the same.

And we can't give half-answers or comment on the usefulness of a question because then we're just being jerks. Yes, Maria, we can take the time to say reassuring things, but that just leaves us open to the "why should we believe anything you corporate shills say?" type comments. If we tell the truth and are accused of shilling, if we only sort-of answer a question and are accused of hiding something, if we don't answer and are accused of not caring, and if we provide sarcastic responses or non-responses and are accused of being lazy and uncaring, there's really not a lot we can do, is there?

What can I say as a developer but "we try"? And what can I do as a QA Analyst except "my best"? If some of you videogame wizards out there can magically turn "we try" into "guaranteed success" and "my best" into "everyone's best," then you've got a jillion-dollar process/idea/concept there.

Ultimately, it does come right down to choosing to purchase the game or not. nothing that anyone says or does will matter anymore once you're at the store shelf or on the order page. So please, believe us... or don't. But please don't ask us to predict the future, try anything other than our best, and don't expect our words to somehow make the realities of software development disappear.

We like what we've done with Dragon Age II, and we think you will, too. That's about as good and accurate an answer as you'll get to "Is Dragon Age II going to work when it is released." i'm sorry if it's not enough to address every individual concern out there.

Of course, burnt offerings wouldn't go amiss.

Except less burnt, more 'medium-rare'. And by offerings, I mean steak.

In my opinion you're worrying too much what the drama queens think. Honestly I think PR would be so much better if we all just stopped caring what the Glenn Becks of the industry are going to say. You're exactly right, you're going to be taken out of context by someone with a tinfoil hat, but when somethings inevitable, why worry about it? It's like living a sheltered life because you don't want to die, it doesn't change anything, all it does is give you a few extra years and make you miserable.

In summary: Political answers and Tinfoil Hats bad, Truth and simplicity good

And chocolate.

Feh, you won't make me hat the forums that easily. I'm an optimist. And a jerkface. :P
