Or are we just supposed to be lemmings who expect different results despite absolutley no evidence to the contrary...what I do find funny is that somehow I am in the wrong for objecting to pre-ordering a game and have it broken for half a year while Bioware does nothing about it...its not like I made Awakening a broken game or Witch hunt for that matter...

My advice:  Don't pre-order, wait for the reviews, then decide if you want to buy the game or not

Well, one of the reasons gave us for the slow patching process is because of the Xbox 360 system, sending stuff out costs a bit more, so that BioWare usually bundles patches with DLC to make it worth while.

Or something like that.

DA2 is being designed for consoles primarily in mind. I don't think even EA would be that stupid greedy to send out an extremely bugged game that will both kill a budding and profitable franchise and alienate the people they're targeting.

Not to mention that DA2 will be a quarter of the length of DAO. Having less quests and whatnot means less chances for bugs.

On the other hand, DA2 will come out less than a year after Awakening, and we don't know the development cycle that they've put in for DA2.

Not to mention that the release date has pretty much been set in stone (I think it was moved back, what, a week since DAA's box-slip?). So it may be a sort of it's going when it's due, bugs be damned, situation.

Sad thing is, the DLC was supposed to fund expansions and patches for DAO. Not to mention DAO was supposed to be supported for two years. So I imagine the playerbase will be screwed with any bugs that show up.

That's why I'm gonna get DA2 for the PC (if I get it). Third party patches, wee.

Yes, Maria, we can take the time to say reassuring things, but that just leaves us open to the "why should we believe anything you corporate shills say?" type comments.

I can sympathize with this. I've done customer service work, and dealt with people who expect me to fix their problem while accusing me of being lazy, lying, and not caring. Heck, I've had people accuse me of being a BioWare shill on some gaming forums I frequent.

Yes, some people are jerks. It's frustrating to get asked an accusing question and then verbally smacked when you try to be polite and helpful. And I've seen it happen enough on this very forum that I agree you're right to be wary.

If we tell the truth and are accused of shilling, if we only sort-of answer a question and are accused of hiding something, if we don't answer and are accused of not caring, and if we provide sarcastic responses or non-responses and are accused of being lazy and uncaring, there's really not a lot we can do, is there?

There are times when you can't win and there are people you can never convince. But that's not every time or everyone. I'd argue that's not even the majority of the time or most of the people.

Most posters like BioWare's games and think the developers are honest. Don't let a small group of people who pop into every thread convince you otherwise.

What can I say as a developer but "we try"? And what can I do as a QA Analyst except "my best"?

You're right, there's nothing more you or anyone else can do.

I just hope some vital lessons were learnend for DA2 from working on origins and it's dlc. I kinda see were the OP is coming from becuse Awakening, Return to Ostagar and witch hunt were and continue to be a source of annoyence for me because I have to work around bugs to get the best expierence from origins.

Bioware on this project has been the second most responsive set of developers I have ever seen to fans. BLizzard on WoW is the first. However, while there are occasions when Blizzard employees use a little sarcasm on the blue tracker, I've never seen such a consistent downpour of belittling the fans as I see on these boards. And WoW has much more complainers than this game will ever have.

It will probably kick ass, and I'll buy it, but I'll always remember when I'm playing that sometimes, a few of the devs were just dicks.

Edit: The've been cool most of the time, and I would rather they talk to us and be jerks than not talk at all.  Just not buying the victim act when they're the ones getting paid and we're the ones paying.

man, I understand you guys wanting to know about the game and voicing concerns, but seriously... we're not gonna know if we like the game or if it's buggy or what have you until we actually play the game. Complainers should go over to game banshee... they could always use more negativity :P lol.

Oh, and, my awakening file was bug-free so....... I guess I get a gold star now :)

BluWulf, WTF????? Honestly, what's the deal? The fact that these people are taking the time to eloquently respond to such rhetorics is deserving of the highest respect in my book.

We've been more than spoiled on these forums. Like I've said before, I'm yet to see another developer who even comes remotely close to the attention we're getting here, so let's have some respect and try not to annoy the hell out of the attentive developers (otherwise I would need to get my AK-47 ready!! :P).

Yeah, thats why the Witch Hunt update was out on PC about at least a month or so before the consoles. And if I recall, on 360 at least they have some arbitrary patch size limit such that a "patch" has to be below a given size or else it needs to be DLC. If I recall, thats why Left 4 Dead DLC is free on the PC while Valve is forced to charge for it on Live. And if I recall, the size limit is why some of Awakening's bugs weren't fixed like the Blackblade armor.

I do find it a bit curious how DA2's release date was announced so far out when we still have only seen about 30 seconds of "official" gameplay. BioWare usually is like Valve or Blizzard with just giving a "when its done" type release date. *shrug* That said, DA2 was slotted in for EA's fiscal Q4 2011 since at least last February when it was some "Untitled Dragon Age Game" on EA's release schedule.

Of course, people figured that DA2's release date was the February 1st date in Awakening, but thats apparently something else. Probably just the anime. Meh.

As for bugs, I know BioWare does their best and they obviously don't want any in the game, but its damn, damn, damn annoying when you get story related bugs in a big RPG. Technical bugs or the game crashing suck in the sense that it can totally break your game, no doubt. But story bugs or glitched dialogue can really screw up the game too, as half of the time you'll not realize something is mucked up if something isn't triggering. Like Morrigan not teaching shapeshifting when friendly or the bunch of dialogue missing from Morrigan or Morrigan's goofed epilogue slide in Awakening and then schizo/amnesia Morrigan in Witch Hunt.

So what worries me is how bugs in Origins/Awakening  will possibly carry over into future games if the import process amounts to anything of consequence.

You should check out Blizzard's Starcraft 2 forums. They don't post there, especially the writing staff. They post on WoW because every person there is a subscribed customer.

To paraphrase the Joker from the "Dark Knight,"..."why so sensitive?"

They are not dicks. The fact that they respond to unfairly phrased questions like adults to children is already deserving tremendous respect.

This forum is an IDEAL field for a social scientist to study spoiled behavior in people. Drop the sensitivity...it's cold out. I don't know where you're from, but Canadian and Russian cold can beat out the wussy attitude out of people very fast. I suggest you come by for some vodka shots.

I'm not worried about bugs when the game first comes out, because it will have bugs and that is just something to deal with. A complex game like this, there is bound to be bugs.

I'm just hoping they are fixed over time. I'll be honest, I wasn't too impressed with the DAO patches but this isn't the topic to get into that.

I can't recall Mr. Gaider EVER  commenting on anything other than the characters and the writing.  Certainly not anything so outside of his lane as the game's stability or internal programming.  And even (Evil) Chris Priestly and Fernando Melo aren't snarky when they're addressing actual installation problems, DLC authorization issues, or real bug-fixes.

Upsetting shorts, let's go shot for shot of your favorite unclear liquor - Oghren style.

On a side note, something tells me your chances of getting laid in real life with someone cute like Morrigan, Leliana and Isabella are much lower than that of the Warden you played DA with.

Either that's quite an overreaction, or insinuating vodka sucks is a stoning offense among Russians.  I'm guessing both.

What does ability to hold ones liquor have to do with it?  There are plenty of people out there who drink good whiskey and rum who can't hold theirs, and plenty of vodka drinkers who can.

Hmm...it'd be fun to see if Hawke has a preference for drinks.

Upsetting shorts, I'm gonna go ahead and admit that some non-vodka drinks are fine too. I'd have to say Jameson and Jack Daniels work. You may want to try approaching vodka somewhat differently - mixing it with a mug of deliciously cold German beer can be a start :)

Well I certainly hope it isn't very glitchy. All I have to say on this matter.

Some developers made some pretty big blunders this gen when it comes to bugs and glitches.

Oh I know, I was just being confrontational. I just wouldn't drink it straight - not because I can't "handle the booze" but because it's got no flavor (provided it's good, if its bad it can taste like paint thinner). In mixes it's fine.

I hope Hawke's preference for drinks is up to the player!

Mixing beer is heresy.

If it contains alcohol it is good, this cannot be argued.
