After a whole year here I guess this thread was bound to be made, so I'll be the poor sucker to bite...

I get the feeling that most people jumped on tali just for the chance to see her (do I really have to say it?).

Most of these gamers felt nothing more then curiosity, not really a connection with her character. I personally chose Miri in ME2 because she really shares a lot in common with my character. they both believe in human progress and are workaholics, very dedicated, serious (although my Shepard has been trying to outjoke Joker since ME1).

Other people went with Thane (really? WTH!?) and jacob (the price.... is not worth it). For me people that stayed with Liara deserve a prize. They really stuck it out with all the alien ass and genetically enhanced boobs thrown at them throught a 30 hour game.

Im curious at women (and some men) who chose Garrus as they're LI. *I expect a response from these*

So why did you choose you're LI, why did you chose no one, and why?

I just choose whatever LI I want(Garrus). I picked Garrus because he was my favorite character from both games(and one of my favorite characters ever) and I wanted to romance him since ME1. I don't believe that it was a friends with benefits situation. I liked the romance. I thought the romance scene was kinda funny and sweet.

When I did my first playthrough, I was split between Tali and Miranda. I liked Tali because she was irresistably cute, but Miranda won me over during he loyalty mission. I ended up choosing Tali. I eventually regretted this.

For me, Miranda relates to Shepard more than anyone else. That just does it for me.

For my female shepard, I was split once again this time between Thane and Garrus (Jacob isn't even an option, he's a boring piece of ****!)

I picked Thane, because with Garrus it comes across more as stress relief, and besides, Thane will be gone in like a year, and I also romanced Kaiden from the first game, I wonder if Thane will still be alive.

I picked Liara, and I stuck with here. I like her shy personailit and her misjudgements in the first game lol. Second game she scared my shepard.....But then in LOTSB she wasnt a robot finally. Tali and Miranda dont appeal to me. Also I dont like "Cheating"

I chose Ashley in my first ever playthrough and I've chosen her ever since. I couldn't see my Shepard with anyone else.

Shepard A romanced Garrus because she felt both of them needed someone to lean on and cares about him more than anyone else on her crew. She'd originally suggested sexing as a joke, but realized that, as weird as it was, she actually had feelings for the guy. Also, she has a womb of steel and only Garrus is on par with her in terms of badassey, plus I have this really weird turian fetish. Had the same problem with the protoss when I played StarCraft, to be honest. Too much information?

Shepard B is a bit of a lecher, but really admired Ashley's strength as both a soldier and a woman, so he couldn't help but fall for her. However, he could not resist DAT ASS and has now fallen into the clutches of the evil Cerberus cheerleader (who actually has a very strong will and pleasant character buried under that catsuit).

Shepard C is a roaring lesbian and thought Liara was the cutest thing ever, so started flirting with her only to discover someone she honestly bonded with. Stayed loyal to her and will go through hell on her behalf, but still playfully flirts with anyone she finds interesting (but no sexing).

i stayed loyal to liara because she is perfect for my male shepard. he is 100% renegade but he has a soft spot for liara and in all of my playthroughs of mass effect 2 i never romanced any one.

Why would Garrus be so nervous about it if it was just to relieve stress? I agree that's what it seems like but if you read between the lines more then it's more then that. And some of his lines are sort of romantic like "I want a few moments that are just for us". And then there are some things that Shepard can say to Garrus like when Garrus says "look, Shepard, I know you can find something closer to home" and Shepard says "I don't want something closer to home. I want you. I want someone I can trust". Also, in Garrus' romance scene he tries so hard and his lines during the end of it show that he really cares for shepard and wants their relationship to work out. Plus if you ever watch the scene if you reject him then you can see that he's really hurt.

I chose Liara in my first ever playthrough and I've chosen her ever since. I couldn't see my  Jane Shepard with anyone else. She isn't to try to seduice Samara
because i wish in me 3 a wedding, and a lot of baby blue

My main Shepard romanced Garrus because he's just about the only person in the galaxy she 100% trusts. For someone who's led a dangerous existence and been dodging death all her life, Garrus makes her feel safe. They anchor each other. Also, Garrus has a sexyfine voice. And he's badass turian Space Batman with a heart of gold. Who can resist?

The ManShep playthrough has me romancing Ash, then dropping her for Miranda. That was a harder choice. Ultimately, it came down to needing an equal and sometimes more than an equal, someone who can help him shoulder his burdens.

I chose Jack because she read my mind. I played a Paragon playthrough and even I was annoyed by how saintly my character sounded. When Jack told me that I sound like a you-know-what I knew she was the one lol.

My Shep romanced Ash and Ash alone. They are both born marines and also Shep loved the fact that she had a big family since growing up an orphan he didn't have one. Also he is a sucker for poetry.Image IPB

I usually choose my LI while I'm on the character creation screen, and stick with it. I also determine their personality and moral center, so I don't end up changing my mind later.
I've made a Shepard for almost everybody but my canons are fShep/Kaidan (Paragon) and fShep/Garrus (mostly Renegade).

My main male Shep is still waiting for Gianna Parasini to become available as a LI in the future; she would be the perfect fit.

My main FemShep has always been loyal to Liara. The Kick Ass Vanguard Annaqi Shepard and the smart, intuitive scientist / information broker - together they are an unstoppable force.

Hmm... Paragon, Sole Survivor, anti-Cerberus. Yes, I think he fits well with Tali. And no, I bought the game just a pair of months ago, already knowing that her face remained hidden, so I don't romance her for that reason.

Ha! That's exactly what my friend did.

"Yay, I'm finally going to get to see her face! Watch this!"

*watch romance scene*

*fall on the floor laughing at his expression*

Anyhoo, my canon Shep romanced Jack. Kinda fell into it but was darn rewarding at the end (though I got the feeling they'd spent their budget for romance scenes on Miranda and Jacob already :P).

Had a helluva time deciding between Jack, the Cheerleader, or staying loyal to Ash, but was happy with the choice in the end.

For me the stories they have to tell make the difference, not so much looks. Thane, Kaidan and Jack were interesting and couldsurprise you. So I don't see why OP have such an issue with Thane. Sidenote; I sort of have a problem with the L1's in ME2, they're too many, makes them feel less worked on (even though this isn't the case) SR2 Normandy = The Lovemarket Ship

My first Shep is pretty much based on me, she does what I would've done in every situation - at least according to the limitations within the game (I rarely feel limited though). Of course, me as I am now would run and hide when fronted by Reapers but I guess with military training I'd be different =) Being based on me, she - just like me - found Liara extremely intriguing. She stuck through her mission with the Collectors without answering the feelings of anyone else, because she kept thinking about Liara. Then finally reunited <3

BioWare, I hope I'm getting my little blue children in ME3. Seriously.

My second Shep wasn't much for thinking but mostly just acted on the first possible emotion at any time. Very impulsive and emotion-driven person. She didn't end up with anyone until Garrus accepted her blatant flirts though. There was a little chemistry between her and Jacob too at first, but Jacob pretty much told her he didn't want anything serious so she dumped his sorry butt and went straight for Garrus. Never looked back!

And what's so wth about Thane anyway? My next Shep is totally going to cheat on Kaidan with Thane. Thane's amazing and I feel bad I haven't romanced him already xD

well, my canon shep is a male spacer sole survivor. in the first game, he and ash bonded over many things: the loss of their units, their military families, training, literature. however she seemed a little abrasive on the subject of aliens, which shep, being a spacer, was used to. he started flirting with liara a bit, bonding with her over her ideals about the universe, but ended up choosing ash as he really only saw a real future and connection with her. after he discovered her reasons for mistrusting aliensand saw through it as another defense he was able to admit how he felt.

in the second game he was loyal to her until after their conversation on horizon. he realized it had been two years and that she had moved on so he should too. jack reminded him a lot of her, the brash attitude etc. they also had bad blood for the illusive man. though he still cared for ash, and lara retained feeling for him, he decided to give it a shot. after hitting tough as nails road block after tough as nails road block he gave up. she came to him however and they made up. too bad he forgot to upgrade that heavy ship armor.

Started with maleShep and haven't got the slightest intention to make femShep, but to the end Shep was emotionally closer to Kaidan than Liara, LI. Felt strange, made femShep which is now canon, and now mainShep and her LI has identical morality but totally opposite emotional reaction. Funny thing, she has a sis-mance with Jack and there is vice versa - identical level of emotions but opposite morality (at least at start)

I've always stayed with Liara. Thane is nice, in a way, but... Liara has her own unique appeal, certainly to my canon Shepard. My Renegade non-canon one turns out to like her a lot as well.

All my Sheps stayed loyal to Kaidan, who I think was the LI that best fitted my Sheps.
