Why is Shepard's face in Shadow during the Trailer?

I admit that it's possibly a way to increase the drama of the moment but that dosen't feel right to me. I'm beginning to think that something has happened to Shepard, something that would be all to obvious if they showed the commanders face in full.
One possibility
Shepard is dying.
Cerberus brought Shepard back but there's no guarantees that their rebuilding would give the Commander back a full human life span. Shepard's clock may simply be running out, but he/she has one last task to complete before the end.
This would open up some interesting story opportunities, as ME 3 is no longer just about defeating the Reapers, but is also a tale about 'what you leave behind.' Even better one of the side stories could deal with you comforting your LI. You can choose to prepare them (or not) for your inevitable death, with a number of scenes following this plot thread.
Imagine Liara learning that she'll have even less time to spend with you than she first thought. Think of Thane being horrified at the fact that you might die before he does, leaving him alone again. Consider the impact of a scene where Tali struggles with her grief, she lost her father, now she's losing you as well.
Now think of the games epilouge, where all the people you touched speak at your funeral, saying their goodbyes while honoring your memory.
Potential Variations depending on LI
Liara: Final epilogue cuts to a scene over a hundred years later, where the council is welcoming it's newest Spectre. Camera pulls back as this young Asari turns to greet her mother, Liara. Who tells her Daughter that her father would've been proud.
Jack: We see Jack visiting Shepards grave with a child in tow, and with one of your close friends who survived standing at her side while she introduces Her biotically gifted child to Shepard
Thane: We see Koyalt flanked by Hanahr paying respects to Thane & Shepard's memorial
Tali: (Mordin made it possible/A wizard did it) Standing on a new homeworld without her helmet as a small hybrid human/Quarian child plays hide and seek (either with Kal, Veetor, Legion or all three).
How about you all, why do you think they didn't show Commander Shepard's face?

And the fact that every single Shepard might look slightly different from the other.

I don't buy the 'Your character' argument. Bioware's being showing us there Iconic Shepard since ME 1, Why stop now?
Bioware clearly stated that the series would continue to get darker. I don't buy the whole "Shepard is dying" theory myself. Considering the homeworld of humanity is being trampled by Reapers, I would probably be looking grim myself if I were in Shep's shoes. He's shrouded in shadow for that dramatic "emerging hero"effect. That's just my opinion though.
On a side note, I'd like to see Tali watch as a Quarian/Human hybrid child and Legion play hide-and-seek or tag on Rannoch (Legion would be reporting humorous comments, of course, questioning the directive of the activity) but I would rather see Shepard approach her from behind and gently wrap his arm around her waist.
Heh, maybe even have Wrex or Grunt (I think Grunt would be the more playful one) playing with the child. Wrex would serve as one heck of a grandfather though.

Grandfather Wrex: "Soooo you want to date my Godchild."
Potential Boyfriend: "No sir...I MEAN yes sir....I mean....!"

Well I have a terrible theory about that.
May be with all the fighting with the Reapers, Shepard sens the effect of indoctrination on him ! And now it's not only a fight for Earth, but along the game he has to fight the reapers on his mind, almost like Grayson did !
May be that's what happened to Shepard. Of course he could hide his condition to other members of crew to keep them focus on the mission. And Dr. Chakwas could help to him to reduce the effect of indoctrination for a while just enough to one last heroic act to stop the Repears before the ultimate sacrifice !
Hero of legends, with scars, cybernetics implants and the beginning of indoctrination, I fear that Shepard will become like his past nemesis : Saren
... Ok I stop. That will not happen ! It's just a debut trailer.

...Such as having to pass over a world to let it be destroyed by the Reapers in order to save another one. Some of which might look at as heartless.
I see this in ME3.

Thinking about it, Shepard might be sterile too. Sure the resurrection brought back all the IMPORTANT parts, but are reproductive organs really THAT important when it comes to saving the galaxy?Nohvarr wrote...

There is also a distinct possibility that Renegade and Paragon characters have different life expectancies. I doubt the healing effect of positive thoughts is only skin deep. (No offense to Renegades out there - I love Renegade interrupts as much anyone and none of my characters is pure Paragon.)
Also, please change thread title into something like "Shepard will become sick and die".
