Me too, which people should take a note that, those video sequences are from the previous game which are not on PS3, so they got those video sequences from the 360 or PC version and tried to be nice enough to give a quick introduction for the demo now, since the full version will have the comic.Sejborg wrote...

Hi All,
I downloaded the Mass Effect 2 PS3 demo yesterday and had a comprehensive playthrough.
Having been looking forward to this demo for so long I have to say I am a bit worried about the port to PS3:
Graphics:
I've played mass effect on a panasonic Th50pz81B 50" plasma 1080p screen with versions on the PC, XBOX and PS3 now.
PC for me has the best graphics of the 3, followed by the XBOX version. The PS3 port however I was hugely disappointed by. The graphics are no where near as good as the XBOX 360 version and the input is only 720p.
The PS3 doesn't handle the motion well either with lots of tearing and artifacts. Overall not very polished at all.
I hope that the final game on PS3 is 1080p and that the smotthness and graphics of the game are better
Shady out.
You know that X360 version runs in 720p too, right? They mentioned it in comparison on Digital Foundry. Even Uncharted 2 (one of the best looking games IMO) runs at 720p. There aren't many games taht run natively at 1080p and those that actually do are mostly PSN/XBLA games.

You can switch the controls in the option menu, I did it, plus I got a set of triggers for my DS3 and it was awesome to play. I thought the same about the faces too, plus unlike my 360 version my Shep looked just like it during gameplay, as it was when I made it, on 360 it always change somehow during gameplay. One thing that amazes me is that, I played both ME and ME2 a lot on 360, and every new playthrough, I almost always find a new little thing I hadn't before on previous playthrough. This time it was Betarian at the clinic(if choose to save him at the beginning of the mission of course), I played this and never new you could talk to him again till few minutes ago when I finished the demo on PS3, now... I'm pretty sure the 360 is the same but my point is to how cool this game is. I can't wait to play it on PS3 now, and check it out those DLCs. By the way, does anyone know if there will be more DLCs for ME2 before ME3 arrives next year?MindRaven wrote...
ok, tried the PS3 demo out last night.
did they switch the RB/LB and RT/LT controller scheme?
that took some time to get used to.........
oh, and is it just me, but did the quality of the faces in the character creator look much better than they did on the 360?
I was struck by how "clear" the faces looked.......lol

Look, very few retail multiplatform PS3 games have native 1080p. A good example is Sacred 2: Fallen Angel, which is native 1080p on PS3. I bet most of you don't care about this game. As for X360 it literally can't have native 1080p at all due to certain output limitations, but handles upscaling pretty well.
Anyway, speaking of PS3 demo - my Shepard got stuck in a table and I had to restart it. Duh, Bioware, thing like this normally guarantee 100% no-buy for me. Also, I've noticed framedrops a couple of times, which is... not really acceptable in a game with such graphics. Then again, GoW3 demo was crap compared to full game, and if that's the case here... Maybe, maybe it's worth a buy. But I must see some reviews before release date. Because no reviews before release date always guarantee crappy porting job.
That happened to me as well, in the room next to the one Mordin is in.
It makes me wish you could skip the opening cutscene even more than I did before.

It isn't running 1920 x 1080p though is it ? Nope they have it running at 1280 x 1080p and use horizontal scaling to stretch the image to give you a "faux" 1080p image :-Alex475 wrote...

In reality there are very few games on the PS3/360 that are natively rendered in FULL 1080p which is 1920 x 1080. I don't know why people expected Mass Effect 2 to be any different. It was always going to be 720p @ 30fps just like the 360 version. If you want anything better than that then you might want to consider going the PC route.

Because it will suck if you choose a FemShep and in the video the ManShep is shown. It was a major down to me in the demo.

1) All that low res pixelated CGI sequences will in the final game?
2) Will be face textures more detailed in final build?
3) Will the performance improve?
4) Does the demo come from the final build? (Which would answer all the questions..)
It is sufficient to say yes/no
Thanks in advance!

People should also note that, actually, that's not the case at all. There are tons of clips from ME2 in that vid. At least as many as are from ME1, and possibly more. Though, admittedly, I haven't bothered to actually count.
Also, it doesn't always tear to the same degree each time, nor in the same locations. I've played through the demo twice and got tons of tearing during the entire opening, and fairly often throughout the rest of it too, the first time. The second time, it still happened, but nowhere near as often.
I.e., you can't blame it on the ME1 clips. Just go watch that very same vid on Youtube if you don't believe me:
See? No tearing.

Played the demo and I'm very disappointed. The IGN video was one big lie. At times the 360 version is better, other times the PS3 version is better but the differences are pretty much negligible. Now that the comic will also come to the 360 and PC, there's no reason for me to purchase it now.
wait...............when was this confirmed??
The other day. There's thread about it:

Dissappointed that Bioware didn't take the opportunity to fix most of the small problems with the game (and FemShep still looks like she's being shoved under a rug), there's some very noticable graphics glitches aswell.
I have my PS3 and PC hooked up to the same monitor, so i can switch pretty quick between the same scene - I honestly don't see much difference aside from the slightly smoother faces on the PS3 version.

Nor do I want it fixed in either game, because it's f@#*ing hilarious and easily worked around. My favorite is when Wrex does it:

Yuck! Screen tearing!
It pretty much went from an automatic purchase to a no-purchase based on that. Seriously, I can't stand screen tearing. They had so much time to fix it up, and they even flat out stated the PS3 version would have "improved graphics", but screen tearing ruins everything.
I'll wait for the full release and full analysis to confirm if the screen tearing is still there, and if it is, I'll have to skip it, sorry to say.

There are tools to edit out screen tearing in video captures. Considering that's an official video, I wouldn't put it past them to have edited the tearing out.

Fair point, but the fact is, the tearing didn't just magically occur when an ME1 clip was playing when I tried the demo out, and it sounds like you had the same experience.

To be honest I couldn't care less if ME2 is 1080p 1080i 720p or even 720i, the game looks awesome the way it is, what's important to me is how enjoyable and fun, and how cool the story is... ME franchise has all of that, that's why I like it, of course ME also looks amazing the way it is, so that's a plus...charmingcharlie wrote...

Yeah but when's the last time you've seen a game demo and the final product look drastically different? I would be estatic if they manage to eliminate the screen tearing in the final product, and I'm holding out for the final word on the tearing to determine whether I purchase it or not, but I don't have my hopes up
