I wanna show off my Shepard once and for all. Blasting away noobs with my trusty Mattok and Phalanx.
25 kills in a row is awarded with an airstrike from the Normandy!
It could also be a team based deathmatch between Alliance soldiers vs Collectors and Husks around the galaxy in the Reaper War (kinda like GoW's multiplayer).

Actually, the sound horses make is called a "whinny."

I'd be fine with something as simple as an online co-op version of the regular story. No bells and whistles, just Player 1 is their Shepard and Players 2 & 3 are squadmates of their choosing.
That is what I was thinking, but squaddies would need something to do during conversations. Ultimately, I think they should just focus on the single-player. They can include multi-player in future Mass Effect games.

No, squaddies would in fact do absolutely nothing during conversations. The whole point of my idea is that it changes nothing about the single player and therefore there's no loss of resources.
It was good enough for Baldur's Gate 1&2, it's good enough for Mass Effect.

I like Mass Effect for story, characters, dialogue and single player combat (aka, Insanity runs). Multiplayer would have to introduce objectives like capture the flag or kill so many number of the other team. That doesn't appeal to me that much. The reason I love Mass Effect combat is because its like its got a purpose, such as save someone or find something, both to do with an actual plot.
Killing X amount of the other team doesn't drive a story, its just kill X amount of people.

I do quite like the idea of multiplayer in the form of your squadmates though. Something that doesn't effect the single player experience in a big way... a sort of drop-in/drop-out thing.

People like this aren't fit for progress. Who knows how many people were against multiplayer in Assassins Creed: Brotherhood, but it went great! (as far as I know).

They can go ahead and make other ME related games multiplayer if they want (I won't buy 'em personally.. but I got no problem with them being made)... but I don't want this outstanding trilogy sullied by a filthy multiplayer (Bioshock 2, anyone?)

Nay.. save it for spinoff series... Shepard's trilogy needs to stay as a single player experience.

Brotherhood multi wasn't that great. Enjoyed the single player a million times more. Not to say it was bad, just that it was meh.

Mass Effect 1, 2 & 3 are being designed as single player games... multiplayer would be secondary in the development.... no game that made multiplayer development secondary has ever had decent success... and ultimately it cheapened the quality of the game (hence, Bioshock 2).
Look at Uncharted 2... designed as single player and a damn epic single player it was.... the multiplayer was tacked on... it wasn't bad, it wasn't great... it was "ok".... look at how many people are playing Uncharted 2 multiplayer right now compared to Halo, COD, Brotherhood.
If they make multiplayer for ME3, it'll be a tacked on feature.. hence, nowhere near as good as the multiplayer games that already exist that made it the core feature.
You either make a multiplayer game with tacked on single player, or a single player game with tacked on multiplayer... neither is appealing.
