And that isn't more flaw in logic then the other way around?

Not at all. Because the sole argument most people think that multiplayer won't work is due to them thinking that the same SP team will be working on the MP aspect and that an "additional team" is simply more "resources" for the enhancement of the SP experience.

Am i arguing that ME3 should have multiplayer? No of course not. Im just looking at it from both sides. If the MP team is lacking the said resources you mentioned, then the multiplayer aspect wouldn't work and would be rather crappy. But like i said, if its done by a different team entirely, whether or not the MP is good will not affect the SP campaign.

But at the end of the day i still think they should keep a Mass Effect game with multiplayer, away from Shepards story and in a spin off because thats where EA and Bioware can do anything they want with it.

You have a point in one way, but even if it is another team workign on it, that's still more resources they have to put into the game to have that other team working. Would it neccecerily affect the SP experence? No. Would it neccecerily mean it won't affect it? No to that as well. That being said, my vote is still nay.

I'd rather not have multiplayer in ME3. But if they really have to, at least make it interesting, not the same old shooter gameplay. That isn't going to last long anyway.

From that point of view the argument would make sense. So does mine, ok I'm biased, as I never tend to argue the same team does both, but argue with overall resource allocations. With resources being everything from money, equipment and personal etc. As the resources for any aspect of a game need to come from somewhere and as these resources aren't unlimited they would miss somewhere else.

Granted that might not be ME3 single player but they still could not be invested somewhere else. Therefore from my personally opinion these "resource" would be better invested in ME3 single player campaign then multiplayer, regardsless of the quality of any multiplayer aspect involved, which would therefore lead to an expanded ME3 single player resource pool. Of course that would only happen if these, lets call them "additional", resources then would be allocated to the single player aspect.

mass effect 3 MUST NOT be a multiplayer. ME spinoffs later can be, but it would just defile the trilogy if you make 3 multiplayer. ME shep trilogy is SINGLEPLAYER

I have a question about a MP option: How would it even work? I pause the game *all the time* using the power wheel either to change up powers or just to pause the game and look at my enemies and plan an attack. I don't play the game at all like I would a typically shooter -- in shooters I just run into the middle of combat and just start firing. In ME, I slow down my pace, get a lay of the land, and pace myself.

Would the power wheel/pause feature be taken away?

While I hate the idea of MP combat I wouldn't mind the idea of multiplayer "trading". As in, if there were an "store" where you could purchase items that people didn't want. Such as minerals for upgrades or hard to find weapons and armor. You wouldn't interact with other people, but perhaps it would give the sense that others are playing the game.

Its the same like some skills were dumbed down if the enemies were using them. The MP would have the whole skill system reworked. There would be fewer skills to choose from and their effects would be different as well.
The "Y" hotkey for class skill would be probably gone to make place for weapon switch. The left bumper wheel would be probably changed (special weapons? ammo types?) as all classes would have two weapons. The right bumper menu would stay, but since you cant realistically expect to use it in real-time combat, it would probably be used for out of combat items (batteries for instant shield recharging? medigel for instant healing? omnigel for armor fixing?).
Its not unusual for games to have significantly different MP component - look at GRAW, the MP does not even use cover.

Thats kind of pointless, last I checked ME3 is not going to be MMO.

Yay, but only in a dumbed down fashion. For example: Being able to play an action segment (get to fortress while blasting guards,...) in a co-op mode with up to 2 friends (as your squad size is 3 people). Would be a nice distraction/plus from the main story or to see how your friends handle enemies with their classes. Nothing too fancy.

Only in spin-off shooter. EA should know that multiplayer isn't guarantee of succes, sometime adding multiplayer into good singleplayer game only makes it worse.

I've no objection to giving people that option, but I wouldn't play it.

No, no, and no. I want the developers to focus all their resources on making the single player as amazing as possible. I play ME for the single player, and If they do release a MP for ME3, I will be severely disappointed in Bioware.

Why not just support my idea which allows two players to control Shepard's squaddies, instead of something that requires the building of new maps and making support for multiple custom characters?

Well, if there's a completely separate team that would be supposed to manufacture mp component, so that the main one would be able to get their job done, then go for it.

I suppose it could be fun to run around some maps, fight other players using powers against you. A small deathmatch, just for kicks.

To be somewhat diplomatic, the only way MP should be implemented, is if it does NOT interfere with single-player development.

I'll still NEVER use the MP but, meh, it doesn't appeal to this avatar.

It seems the feeling on the forum overall is that its a bad idea. Also on IGN their vote is very much against it. I really hope Bioware are taking note. Id hate to see MP taking away from the game in anyway at all just for the sake of tacking it on.
