Multiplayer didn't seem to hamper Uncharted 2's story, so I don't think ME3 with multiplayer would be bad idea. My preference would be for it to be done by another studio within Bioware using the Mass Effect assets instead the main team so they can focus on the core, single player experience.
Though I would much rather them make a separate Mass Effect shooter altogether and just add a multiplayer component to it. I could see some squad based prequel story with co-op for each of the squad members as they deal with the initial Reaper attack. And as already stated, I would still rather that be done by another one of Bioware's teams so the primary team could focus on ME3 proper.
That approach seemed to work for Konami well enough. Metal Gear Solid 4 and Metal Gear Online, while using the same assets, were done by two different teams, and MGS4 proper wasn't hampered by the issues that plagued and continue to plague Metal Gear Online.

Here is a better question who here wans bioware just to go all out on ME3? I mean throw all the stuff they can in there? What I mean is you have the main story line but what about after? They had better have free roam to complete side missions and stuff. I think they should load the game up with tons of different side missions ones as detailed like the ones in ME2 but also throw in a random generator. The missions would be less detailed more like ME1 but you would still have something to play with.
lol I wouldn't care if ME3 came out and it was 40GB's as long as it had a months worth of playing stuff. Ton's of achievements to and different weapons I want a huge armory.
^ Why am I asking for all this stuff? Well hell the release date is so far away migh as well get my 2011 holiday wish list in now so Santa can deliver next YEAR!!!!!!

For ME3 a big fat emphatic NO!!!
For other games set in the ME universe, why not. I don't think that traditional type of mp gameplay like CTF, Deathmatch etc would be all that fun in ME settings, it would have to be something unique.

Personally I'd prefer for Bioware to ignore it in ME3 and just focus on the main single player campaign. But I really doubt EA will let Bioware keep it as single player only so multiplayer of some sort will probablly feature in it.
I've discussed it with my friends and we all agreed if there was going to be multiplayer they should do something like a more advanced version of Pinnacle Station.
Get a seperate team to work on it so they don't take any people from the single player.
How it could work would be simple, players can create an original character (any class and any species) let them team up in teams of 3 players and then compete to gain the best scores.
Of course you'll replay the features of the original dlc, but they could add more modes and add more 'personal' missions like let players participate in the first contact war, rachni wars, elysium, torfan and akuze.

It seems the feeling on the forum overall is that its a bad idea. Also on IGN their vote is very much against it. I really hope Bioware are taking note. Id hate to see MP taking away from the game in anyway at all just for the sake of tacking it on.
This.
I'll be really disappointed if BW decides to include mp in ME3.

:unsure:Nay; the reason I play ME is for its unique SP. Including MP would be a huge injustice to most ME players, Bioware is already working on a tight calendar adding MP would just plague it with bugs, floppy DLC, rushed character design and cheap dialogue. COD:BO may have done it well but most people don't buy COD for its SP do they?

EA is a the devil so who knows...
I cant imagine Bioware themselves thinking its a good idea to take the last game of the trilogy and waste resources to put on same lame MP

Nay. In a spinoff? Sure. But not in a goddamn main game.
Sure... You can have a good SP and MP... but if they didn't bother with the MP, then the SP would be even better.

This, pretty much. But in truth I don't even think BioWare would implement multiplayer for the ME3. Why would they do that? And how would it even work and still make the same game? Maybe a multiplayer in the ME universe, but that's an entirely different thing.

I support MP in ME3 abolutely %0
But if they did something like AC did I would support it %100
AC was originally just supposed to be a trilogy...So instead of going right to AC3, they made AC Brotherhood with a multiplayer and a whole giant extra single player playthrough to do as well...im only assuming they did that because they dont want to hinder AC3
Now if Bioware WANTS to make a MP..>PLEASE PLEASE leave it out of ME3 and put it somewhere else!

There are hundreds of multiplayer games out there but it's getting harder and harder to find a decent single-player game.
If i want to play multiplayer i can just go play BFBC2 or COD or (insert favourite mp game here) because they are actually pretty good multiplayer games. There is a reason why they are widely regarded as the kings of multiplayer. A part of that reason is(like some others have said) that they focus on multiplayer. If ME3 is going to be a good single-player game they can't focus so much on multiplayer. So as i see it i have no reason to play a potentially tacked on multiplayer instead of a(in that case) better multiplayer. So i would like the devs to simply focus entirely on making the best possible singple-player mode.
My answer: Nay to multiplayer in ME3.

if ME3s single player story lasts at least 20 hours, then i dont mind an addition of multiplayer. there is a difference in that multiplayer being online PvP or 2 player coop campaign. id think the 2 player coop would be really boring for player 2 at certain times. bioware has definatly made ME more of a co-op type game with global cooldowns, less modding, less of everything really, in order to make a 2 player game functional. obviously things like pausing or slowing the game speed down would need to be eliminated for that, and that sortof takes away from MEs strategy. on the other side with online multiplayer, im not sure how that would work. would we be taking our shepards into battle? would we be doing CoD type leveling for online?
i know for a fact id love playing coop campaigns with friends, but i really dont want ME3 to be a game built around having more then one "alpha" character. Id rather ME3 focused more on the end of shepards story. forget multiplayer, stupid scanning or hacking games, and vehicles and give us a story about a dude. a dude who saves the galaxy.

Go ahead and add it, just don't make it required to complete the story. That way the people who want it can get it and the people who don't want it can ignore it.

Uhm and playing the exact same 5 minute scenarios over and over is boring. If you want multiplayer, go away and play COD...like people who like single player dont deserve ANY game to stay that way?

OH HELL NO NO NO NO NO.
. . . all you goober cheater hacks will "F" it all up . . . I don't play any of the COD series NOR will I support any of the overpriced COD games because of this. ESPECIALLY since their production - programming staff made no effort to level the playing field out there and just ran away with the cash.
Don't believe me? Try this game "Combat Arms" for awhile . . . down load it and play it LEGIT it's a free to play multiplayer out there for PCs. It is a perfect example of a idea that's loosing peeps by lazy, no talent, cheating players and a production - programming team that's running away with player's cash and doing very little to level the playing field out there. Oh by the way KDR or Kill Death Ratios in that game. . Ha ha ha ha. . don't believe it for a second there are so many hackers in that dam game it's impossible to tell who actually has any talent anymore!
I stay away from multiplayer FPS since I'm tired of the fracken trainers, aimbotters, health moders, etc . . These NO TALENT hacks have to use in these games to get anywhere . . . (My gawd are do you guys really have that low of a opinion of yourselves?) Besides all of that, I get tired of listening insolent younglings who think they know something, then whine when they don't get their way. Aww . . . poor baby got mellen shot . . . awww . . . by a legit player too? Aww poor baby's aimbotter didn't save you . . awww . . Youngling just earned zero respect from me.
Do you detect a bit of hate there . . . HELL YES YOU DO.
I would much rather the EA - Bioware team spend their FULL effort on the storyline, characters, grafix, sound production, etc . . . then waste precious resources (development, programming time, and any cash) on a dam add on for PVP multiplayer.
Besides you guys have more than plenty of FPS multiplayer games out there to choose from.

Now that Mass Effect 3 has been officially announced, I return to the age-old response to this topic: Mass Effect 3 is a single-player game. Thank you.
