Elevators? Or Static Loading Screens?

Ok so i know that people have a huge problem with mission complete screens, as well as the addition to the static loading screen both at the start and in the middle of some missions and when you climb in the elevator of the Normandy. BW placed them there because of the mass amounts of complaints about the elevators in ME1.

Now my question for everyone is would you rather have them bring back elevators, (with some tweeks of course!) or have them keep the static loading screens?

Personally I would much rather have back the elevators. For me it kept me immerced in the game and made it feel less like a video game, and more like i'm actually watching actual physical history. Now yes some of those rides were painfully dull and long. However i think if BW brings them back there are several ways they can make them more interesting, and lless painful.
1) They have a new game engine and the loading times seem much shorter (i.e. shorter elevator rides.)
2) Longer more in depth squad banter, or news reports.
3)  The advertisements we all saw in the Citidel in ME 2 Included on the rides.

One of my favorite things from ME 1 was its immersions and sence of real posibilities. And that all came from the simple details, from the everything in detail in the codex. Even probably my most favorite was boarding and getting off at ports in the Normandy. the Ships V.I. would keep a log of when you came aboard andd went ashore. As a military person this felt very real for me hearing the Ship V.I. saying "The commanding officer is ashore. X.O. Pressly has the deck." When they took this out and and it was just simply oh hey look at that i'm randomly off the ship. It was very unreal feeling and ruined the game for me.

So what is everyone elses thoughts on this?

Bring back the elevators. Every time. Contextual audio on the radio relating to your exploits was amazing, not to mention it made it feel like an actual functioning world, not just stitched-together maps.
And the loading screens were no more interesting - less so, infact - than the elevators.
Also, bring back all of the Citadel locations from both games.

Edit; can't agree more with what you said about the entering/exiting of the ship.

Elevators.

I at least want THINGS HAPPENING WHILE I WAIT. I DON'T WANT TO GAWK AT A BLAND LOADING SCREEN FOR 2-F*CKING-HOURS.

It made me laugh that in ME2 the elevators were actually still used as a means of triggering a loading screen. I mean, they weren't brilliantly disguised before but that was horrible and tacky.

I'd love to see the elevators and airlock scenes brought back in ME3. Although i guess they can get away with the airlock not being required since most of the time, you depart the Normandy using the shuttle in ME2. But for whenever you do land the ship on a planet, would be nice to have them back.

However i don't particularly dislike the "Mission Complete" screens. I thought they were also quite cool, especially with TIMs music playing. They just sometimes made the game feel split up into sections, giving it a more linear feel than ME1. Perhaps they could make the "Mission Complete screens into actual reports you need to fill out after a mission, or pass on to the XO if ur feeling too lazy to do it yourself lol.

Elevators, please... the loading screens were neat but immersion breaking, just like the awful "Mission Complete!" screen. I would also love to be able to walk off and board the Normandy and the land vehicle like in ME1..

I think this would be perfect, because like OP said, the ads and light convos could be brought back to those elevator rides, and area music could return. I would have loved to hear "Omega's Theme" or "Ilium's Theme" instead of listening to constant adverts.

yes i could not agree more

but the banter during elevator rides was entertaining

also the way you went on/ or off the ship made everything seem more realistic

instead of the static screens everywhere

at least save the elevator on the Normandy / Citadel

Elevators, static loading screens break my immersion for a split second too long.

Elevators. But only if I get to run around like crazy during elevator rides and press all the buttons to all floors right before I exit.

No elevators, please. Think about some better option to load stages than orange diagrams, but I just don't want elevators back.

Boring.BOOOOORING.

Elevators. It added a more real feeling. Every time I saw a loading screen, I was reminded that I was playing a video game. I thought Mass Effect 2 was a great improvement over Mass Effect, but I did not like that everything that just needed some refining like inventory, exploration, and elevators were just cut out entirely.

Mass Effect 1 had its flaws, but in the end I felt like I was watching a really long movie. Movies don't have loading screens.

Gotta go with the rest of ya, Elevators. At least it immerses you further into the Mass Effect world with news and gossip. Plus I really missed the decontaimination sequence when boarding the Normandy.

Personally i liked the elevators in ME1 because it kept you in the game. I understand why people critisized them but replacing them with loading screens didn't really wait time any shorter.

+1 Elevators -- The music was always enjoyable and it was great to hear banter between your squadmates.

I like your idea of having to do a quick mission report they could do it like selecting emails from Alpha Protocal, wheere you could pick your email reply as either nice, cocky, or total douch bag lol.

Elevators! I loved hearing about how I messed up the galaxy while I rode the elevators.
