Elevators, airlocks, shuttle rides etc are all fine as long as there is something interesting going on, either news reports, squad banter or roll the pre/post mission briefings into these scenes

When I first figured that the elevators were loading "screens", I thought Bioware was being clever. They were long, but is was a nice transition that felt real instead of staring a rust-red holograph.

I want loading screens and MOAR shooting plox, I'm sick of all the down-time in ME2.

Elevators, for sure. They kept transitions inside the ME universe and kept you immersed.

When my friend told me that the elevators were the loading screen I was like... REALLY? That's kind of cool.

I never understood the hate for the elevators, specially when you could use rapidtrans and get a typical loading screen.  <_<

I liked them, it was a clever way to make the game more seamless.

The party banter was really funny and gave us some insight on squadmates personalities, and the relationships between them.
I would like to see real interaction between our squadies, be through elevators o stairs ( oh, Garrus and Tali, how I luv u ), ME2 seriously lacked there :(

Elevators, absolutely. Loading screens were awful, especially since there was not too much party banter in ME2.

I would have to say elevators. I always found the news casts to be funny and even if they weren't I could just pan the camera to look at Ashley's, Liara's or Tali's buts. I once caught my ex-gf doing the same thing with Batman and when I called her on it she blushed. Maybe that's why we broke up because mine could not compare to Batman's.

Elevators! And if we have to ride a shuttle somewhere how about to a rear camera view of it driving down a tunnel with other shuttles coming and going for the loading screen? And you can hear your squadmates talk inside it on the way there. Then once you reach your destination it lands and que the exit scene like in ME2.

Cool we got about 80 people who want the elevators to return. All we need is a thousand to make it so.

Elevators! It makes the world feel much bigger and more alive.

On a side note though, The witcher 2 will have only a couple loading screens. Dont remember but I think it was 4 or 7 or something and that is awesome.

Elevators and Decontamination rooms need to make a reappearance. Immersion, immersion, immersion. Don't take me out of the game unless you absolutely have to.

No, you could not - you had to use elevators twice each time you visited Citadel.
(or every time you wanted to change squadmates on Citadel)

Where's all this elevator squad banter I hear about in ME1? Because I played through it last week and the only time it happened was on the Citadel and Illos and it didn't even happen that often. After you become a Spectre the elevator rides are mostly news segments. There wasn't anything on the Feros, Therum, Noveria, and Virmire elevators, not even news announcements. Talk about rose colored glasses. Nostalgia is one mean mutha huh?

Do we even need to talk about the speed? I play ME1 and 2 installed on an X-Box and load screens make ME2 go faster than any elevator ride. The longest load times for me in ME2 are:

1.Importing from ME1.

2.Loading the character creator after the intro.

3.Switching discs.

Other than that ME2 flies through loading times to get to the actual game. You know the one where you can control stuff and make things happen? But whatever, if they can make elevators faster and packed with dialogue...cool. If they can't...f*** it. Leave it like ME2.

Threads like these make me sorry for Bioware. I hope they don't become too jaded listening to the INSANITY I've seen on these forums.

I think what I liked most about elevators was that you could tell when it was about to be over.

It was awesome how getting in an elevator usually triggered a loading screen of me watching an elevator move. And by awesome I mean completely stupid and a horrible waste of time. Bring back the elevators, superior transitions help make the universe more seamless.

This is human nature. Fortunately for me, i actually played ME1 again after ME2. The experience clear up any nostalgia created moments there, bringing back the terrible experiences of the Mako driving and the elevators

The sad thing is that they will get shot if they do the ME1 elevators and people actually experience the issues once again.

If Bioware then said "We gave you what you wanted", you would get the responses of "Not without improving it!" or even worse "You're the developer, shouldn't you know what is good or bad?".

Working in IT for me really shows why users don't know what they want and avoid any responsibility when confronted with their own signatures on the design specifications

The problem with the ME1 elevators was that they were a given duration and that was it. If you had a fast computer, the elevators would still take just as long as on a slow one. Ideally, if dialog is initiated the elevator will take as long as the dialog does, if not (or the dialog is done) the elevator ride is finished as soon as the PC can finish loading the next part.

Bioware can even include the option to cut dialog short with a mouse click if someone doesn't want to wait for dialog.

I like the way load screens remind me of what buttons used to do what, for someone on the developer team long ago in a galaxy far, far away. Irregardless of my own setup. It keeps things fresh and exciting.

Loading screens.

Then I can replace them with blank .bik files and lower the loading times to a bare minimum.
