Elevators. But only if I get to run around like crazy during elevator rides and press all the buttons to all floors right before I exit.

I'd lean a bit towards implementing an updated version of the elevators, too. I had forgotten about it but now recall being a little disappointed with the loading screens in ME2 when I first encountered them. From what I recall of the previews and interviews, the dev team said they were trying to do a better job of conveying the distance that you were traveling and/or provide more information that wasn't being successfully conveyed by the elevator rides. I thought, cool, there will now be a screen inside the elevator showing me how far I'm traveling... I didn't expect elevators to be cut completely and, when I saw that they were, I was disappointed.

Basically, the elevators were/are a great idea, but I would take advantage of everything they've learned and the updated engine to bring back "quicker" elevators that actually do convey some of the information they were trying to impart in the loading screens while also letting us listen to news reports or squad banter.

Elevators. Please.

I am not looking forward to being told I can "BE THE ULTIMATE BADASS" a dozen times over when I purchase and play through the PS3 version.

I'd rather have elevators, hands down! Load and Mission complete screens are an eye sore in an RPG.

Also, the elevator serves another purpose of applying to immersion.

Elevators! You got to hear fun squad banter and learn things about the characters!

Boring either way, don't see a difference between loading screens or elevators.

Have I posted in this before? I don't know.

Neither. Hidden loading is where it is at, but no elevators please.

I would like to see elevators return, but only if there's much more news/squad banter during elevator rides than in the ME1. If there's a small amount of them, that loading screens are better coz they are fast. When you here all the possible elevator dialogue you just wait for a long time doing nothing.

Agreed.  The elevator dialogue was good, but too sparse.  It needs to be atleast as common as the the DA:O party banter, preferably about one per elevator ride that lasts most of the ride.  Also, one news reel per elevator ride, and the news reels had better change constantly.

Yeah, bring back the lift scenes! Also the citadale, is not supposed to be small! They must have cut it down to a 1/5 of its orginal size in ME2. They need to add more things to do, possibly a quest generater thing... Like helping C-sec catch criminals. Ok but we don't want to focus on that. Its just once you have done everything in a certain area, its feels so lifeless. Even adding some mini games.

Anyway back to the lifts. Dialoge like Dragon age is a good idea, but if your in a lift, maybe add a few random events eg: if you take a lift near a bar a few tipsy people. Or some C-sec officers talk etc.

Just something different now and again to make it even more realsistic. Ok yes it can become boring however if they use random events (like when in ME1 you hear a new report and get a assignment from it) and make sure its not too long a wait it will be good.

I also feel that in ME2 with the screens they had for taking off and landing was cool, but to make it more interesting why not put a mini game option ( so you can choose to or not to) land the ship, or say on Tuchanka drive the vehical. That would with out any doubt make the game more attractive.

Elevators > loading screens

Especially considering the wait times were basically the exact same. Just liven up all the elevators. Maybe include TVs in some of them so we can watch galatic news.

Air lock scenes were nice too. I hated in ME2 when I wanted to get back on my ship to just get one thing from a major city (Omega, Illium, Citadel, etc.) and it played the whole "ship departing" cutscene. I JUST wanted to change one piece of armor. Not LEAVE! In ME1 you did not leave until you opened the galaxy map and moved the ship!

Agreed! I couldn't understand the logic behind making you leave.

Ok so i know that people have a huge problem with mission complete screens, as well as the addition to the static loading screen both at the start and in the middle of some missions and when you climb in the elevator of the Normandy. BW placed them there because of the mass amounts of complaints about the elevators in ME1.

Now my question for everyone is would you rather have them bring back elevators, (with some tweeks of course!) or have them keep the static loading screens?

Personally I would much rather have back the elevators. For me it kept me immerced in the game and made it feel less like a video game, and more like i'm actually watching actual physical history. Now yes some of those rides were painfully dull and long. However i think if BW brings them back there are several ways they can make them more interesting, and lless painful.
1) They have a new game engine and the loading times seem much shorter (i.e. shorter elevator rides.)
2) Longer more in depth squad banter, or news reports.
3)  The advertisements we all saw in the Citidel in ME 2 Included on the rides.

One of my favorite things from ME 1 was its immersions and sence of real posibilities. And that all came from the simple details, from the everything in detail in the codex. Even probably my most favorite was boarding and getting off at ports in the Normandy. the Ships V.I. would keep a log of when you came aboard andd went ashore. As a military person this felt very real for me hearing the Ship V.I. saying "The commanding officer is ashore. X.O. Pressly has the deck." When they took this out and and it was just simply oh hey look at that i'm randomly off the ship. It was very unreal feeling and ruined the game for me.

So what is everyone elses thoughts on this?

I'm totally with the OP. How I missed the elevator banter between squaddies and Hackett's voice at the beginning / ending of Alliance missions

The use of elevators instead of loading-screens kept me "in world". If I was already sick of elevators, I used the taxi (slightly faster and somehow still more immersive picture on-screen than in ME2). The loading screens in ME2 never immerse me the way elevators did - and, of course, the party banter is missing... the occasional news and quest updates.

I think if the rides were packed with more content - a bit of more varied news and banter - I´d gladly vote for the return of the elevators.

Also the aknowledgement of you leaving/boarding the ship. There has to be ways to make it more...personal. Not just the immersion/loading-screen/back to immersion.

Load screens. If they want to implement dialog they can do it in the world someplace, the way they did in DAO.

its funny seeing all these people who miss elevators and the mako who probably only hated on those two things in ME1.

whatever immerses me into the game more is a good thing. loading screens, mission complete screens, hit B to end mission, those are all things that take away from immersion.

I like the elevators, provided there is always an option to bypass with a quick travel, so no more mandatory C-Sec elevator.

Elevators or hidden loading FTW.

It's silly to pretend the loading screens are not there. News flash: they ARE there. And they are ten times as boring.

As for slow loading, even now... without them... I 50% of the times get over a minute long loading screens. Seriously, wtf? This is the only game doing this.

Bring back the elevators. Every time. Contextual audio on the radio relating to your exploits was amazing, not to mention it made it feel like an actual functioning world, not just stitched-together maps.
And the loading screens were no more interesting - less so, infact - than the elevators.
Also, bring back all of the Citadel locations from both games.

Edit; can't agree more with what you said about the entering/exiting of the ship.

Like hearing about how I FUBARed a drug-addicted Warlord for the 20th time is less immersive. >_>
