Or they might decide to release one in February to build up excitement for ME3
If so we are unlikely to hear about it before January

I take it there's been no solid denial or confirmation on whether or not there will be a goty or ultimate edition of ME2.

Is there anyway to ask BioWare or EA this directly...like some-one knows if they have some e-mail adress I could ask are they gonna publish GOTY/Ultimate Edition of Mass Effect 2 or not?

which suggests that they won't do one until after ME3 is out ...whichis not good for me as I can't download dlc and so want a disc version to play shadowbroker and arrival BEFORE I start ME3Chris Priestly wrote...
Our team is working on ME3, not a collected ME2. Sorry.
Or, to put it another way, how long would you like us to delay ME3 so we can bundle together ME2?
(of course this is "Evil" Chris who likes playing word games to tease fans with misleading answers so we won't know for sure until (or unless) there is an official announcement)

Why can't you download the dlcs? Besides wouldnt it be cheaper to just buy the dlcs then to buy a new disk assuming you already have a ME2 disk.

Note - I am miles away from home at the moment, it's not my pc and it is not a gaming pc (for a start it has no sound) and even if it was I wouldn't be around enough to play much on it

I would rather they bundle ME2 than put multiplayer in ME3.

Ditto. Did anyone actually request multiplayer? Not that I am disagreeing with the decisions of the design team, but it seems an odd addition, especially for the final part of a trilogy.

Criss that makes no sence. The DLC just has to be downloaded onto a singel disc and then mass copied. Slap a GOTY on the cover and people will buy it in the millions!Get Magna Carter wrote...

The reason is, and I know I'm in a minuscule minority here, is that people living in Japan like me, are unable to play Arrival. I was able to get all the other DLC using my imported US Collectors Edition off of the Cerberus Network day and date the same time as the US, but for some reason Arrival, Costume Pack 2 and the Mass Effect 1 comic book DLC are unavailable. You can try selecting them in the relevant screen in the Cerberus Network, but an error message appears saying, "There are no contents to purchase," or something like that, even though the DLC is right there on the screen.
So I've played up to the end of the Shadow Broker DLC... but no Arrival. And it appears Japanese language players are really getting boned:
http://www.ea.com/jp/news/me2-xbox-dlc
It basically says Japanese users (i.e. users who bought Japanese language copies of ME2) will never get the last 2 or 3 story DLCs! I just found this out today, but the announcement is dated Feb. 3rd.
From what I can tell, as I haven't played ME2 in Japanese, no DLC has been released in Japan from Stolen Memories" onwards! If I'm reading Japanese Wikipedia right, a buggy version of Stolen Memories was released last August "mistakenly" according to EA Japan.
So, as an English user using a US copy of ME2 in Japan, I don't know if I was ever affected by ME2's Japanese language issues, but either way, I feel boned, and if you read the comments on Japanese forums, they're none too happy about their end of the situation, either. I get that the people who make and fund these games have to make money, but... this sucks. We've been waiting for a year to see the real end of ME2!
So, a collected DLC edition would at least let me play Arrival. Either as a Games on Demand thing on XBL Japan, or a region free retail box if you're only going to release one in America.
I realise this will make zero difference, but it seems no one cares (Well, not enough), and I just wanted to get this situation out on the net in English.

I suppose maybe there'll be some super-duper edition that has the entire story in one collection that may include the DLC (since I can't imaging a collected ME2 hitting after ME3 hits). Kinda puts a damper going into ME3 with the feeling (right or wrong) that I'm going to be "missing" something from the DLC.

Having the third and final piece of the puzzle linked up to and even following a prior-game DLC was to me probably the worst game decision BW has done so far (no offense - absolutely love the ME series, just speaking my mind if I may. Please let me know if you don't like it). Therefore (and partially from lack of money and availability of DLC discs in my area), I've decided to wait for an Ult / GotY to be released, which I really hope it will, and rather soon.

I guess I'll playing Fallout: New Vegas, Mafia 2, Red Dead Redemption, SW Force Unleashed, L.A Noire, Elder Scrolls: Oblivion and Borderlands complete/ultimate/goty editions while waiting.
I don't get it why EA doesn't want this. There are people who can't / won't buy DLCs even if there is no GotY version released. So they not earning but loosing money on this.
Not to mention as Falcon pointed out, it takes only minimum effort.

So far, autumn is looking to be a pretty good guess. Granted that they made their prediction for autumn of last year, it's looking more and more like it'll be autumn of this year, if at all.
Considering what all they threw in with the PS3 bundle pack, I would imagine that they would include the pre-order items in a potential "Ultimate/GotY" edition
Quite frankly, I'm not holding my breath, and this is the realist in me, not the pessimist.
It's too bad, but maybe they don't think enough people would be willing to buy it.

In addition, the fight for the title is currently between ME2 and DA:O, and frankly because of the reception it got, I have a feeling that DA might snag the winning spot although it looks from what I've researched that ME2 does hold more golden trophies at the moment. We'll just have to wait and see...
