You can clearly see Anders in the background in the developer diary ( at about 3:20 ) .

You can clearly see a human male who looks suspiciously similar to Anders, yes. It may or may not be him. Personally I think it is but we'll see I guess.

I know a lot of people think it looks like Anders in that scene, but I'm not seeing it. The hair is short and not pulled back. And the facial structure looks like that a much older man.

Would be funny if he's just a nameless NPC.

Actually, no it wouldn't. I would very much like some more Anders-time.

Isn't there a thread about this somewhere?

Anyway, the guy is clearly Anders, whether he is recruitable is unknown.

I also think it's him, but I don't think he's recruitable, he may just make a cameo appearance though.

I think more people need to watch the trailer in HD because you can see that that mage doesn't have long hair pulled back, he has very short hair. And the hair isn't even red. It's black or dark brown.

You're assuming Anders would be faithfully recreated with the new face morph system.

Maybe he got a haircut so the templars wouldn't recognies him..

And yeah, red? Anders is totally blond, almost Theirin-blond.

I hope either A) It's not him or B) If it is him its only for a short cameo. Anders kind of got on my nerves. Besides, I want NEW companions.

You can't be serious. If that's blond then my hair is black(hint:I'm brunette).

In the first picture everything is red, including his face but otherwise I'd say he's blond. Not marlyn monroe blond but still. My friends with that haircolour refer to themselves as blondes.

Yes, that would be blond. I think he has the same color as Alistair in the toolset, which is "dark blond".

Hmm.. I could have sworn we had an Anders doppleganger before. Oh right, Alistair. I suppose this could always be another Maricspawn.

But seriously, I really liked Anders but I don't really want him in DA2. If I had any companions from Awakening, I'd rather have Nathaniel for a brief time before he leaves for Ferelden. I'm not really interested in anyone post-Awakening though, or having a GW companion either.

Heh, now I am reminded of all the early "What colour is Alistair's hair?" threads. But yeah, the lighting is playing tricks with you, you can tell hair colours better in settings where your outdoors and its light out like at the city of Amaranthine. They always look a bit redder indoors where there is torchlighting going on.

All due respect to Anders fans, but I really hope it's not Anders. His personality was far too similar to Alister's for my liking. I'm hoping the companions in DA2 have their own unique personalities and are not just analogues of DA:O characters.

I didn't really think their personalities were that similar, sure they were both the "comic relief" sort of character but their humour was very different. I always wanted to see those two have some banter together though, would have been awesome.

There an epilogue that supports his presence in Kirkwall and an epilogue that supports him not being there(namely he's a corpse).

I find it hard to believe that they'd let go a screenshot containing a character that may or may not be dead.

You're right for me they felt somewhat similair to each other, sure his jokes aren't that similair to Alistairs, but because of his carefree demeanor and being the party joker made me feel that they were somewhat the same, though I don't think he will be a companion, if he is I wouldn't mind it.

his cameo in DA2 could happen before he goes off to Amaranthine.
