No-Reload Campfire

Don't need a complete list of mods, but anything that significantly makes a run easier or harder should be listed (such as playing a jester with rogue rebalancing mod installed).
A post that states when your run ends (whether it be you are just tired of playing the character, computer crash, or quitting after final battle in SoA) would be great.
Have fun!

We rescued Imoen early so we had a ton of quests to do after getting out of the Underdark. A lot of the fights were pretty straightforward, Minsc in particular was pretty devastating with his dual wielding and Jaheira did some pretty nice damage with her Impaler. However a number of things did happen:
1) When battling Bodhi for the 2nd time Minsc got level drained to nothing (chunking). We lost a ton of stuff but pressed on. In particular lost the shied of Balduran and the Crom Faeyr. He was replaced with Keldorn. This happened near the end of SoA, so Keldorn was way behind the rest of the party in terms of experience.
2) In the Underdark, had to reload multiple times when zoning into the Beholder's Lair. Even with protection from petrification up, Yeroc was somehow still getting insta-killed. We pressed on but of course that ended the no-reload run.
3) Also in the beholder's lair, Minsc was imprisoned. Fortunately a freedom scroll brought him back.
4) When battling the twisted rune hide-out (Shandalar) Jaheria got turned to stone. I didn't have any scrolls to turn her back like I usually carry on my PC, and even thought my characters do know stone to flesh spell they didn't have it memorized and can't rest there. Wasn't sure I could come back. But somehow remebered the ring of earth control could turn her back to flesh and it did. Didn't have to reload. Also purchased some stone to flesh scrolls immediately from the nearby Temple of Helm.
5) When rescuing Jaheira from Harper's Hold, Yeroc did a mean thing. He laid down 5 snares in the main area, and had the mages put down 4 skull traps. Needless to say was pretty devasting when we came back downstairs. : )
Installation:

Yeroc made it through SoA and is currently in Saradush in ToB. Here is his current party stats:

Yeroc has finished talking and helping everyone in Saradush, so he gets ready to break into Gromnir's Castle. The party also dealt with Gromnir's men in the sewers, mostly by Yeroc staying stealthed (cloak of non-detection) and sending summons to deal with enemies until we ran out of summons.
The vampires in the prison were pretty easy. Anomen was able to destroy all of them with his turn undead except the boss vampire at the end.
Gromnir's guards in the cells weren't too much trouble for the party just had to gulp a few heal potions for the tanks. However, there was one guard in particular, the high level mage we know likes to cast time stop and the like we took extra preparations.
First, we positioned our party here in the cell area:

We then summoned some skeletal warriors. The plan was to send them one at a time at the mage without risking the party. But first, Imoen cast Farsight (love that spell, especially dealing with mages) so that we could order the Skeletal Warrior to attack.
As expected, the mage got off this (time stop) - party still out of sight:

Lost a couple of skeletal warriors, but the 3rd one sent was the charm:

Using snares and summons, rest of the enemies fell easily with our melee/ranged backup.
Next up was Gromnir's Goons on the main floor. I made sure to put death ward on Yeroc, Chaotic Commands on the front-liners and Yeroc, remove fear and haste. We went up stairs and opened the battle with 2x Horrid Wiltings and Jaheira's Insect Plague. Was working well as you can see:

Next up was Gromnir and his body guards. Most of our buffs were still running. So our strategy was to put a horrid wilting on the mages, one at the enemies by the stairs, emotion for the enemies at the bottom, and Anomen and Keldorn were tanking Gromnir with Yeroc helping by backstabbing gulping invis potions between each backstab. We also summoned a deva to keep the mages distracted. After a few rounds it worked and Gromnir fell:

Melissan confronts us and tells us we have to find out an destroy Yaga-Shura's invinvincibility for there to be any hope for the city. So we sell our junk and go to the pocket plane, but think we will hit Watcher's Keep (1st level) next.

The party was able to clear the 1st level of Watcher's keep without a problem. Yeroc used up all his snares here, helped a lot against the statues, along with a planetar.
So the party heads to Bhaal temple in the Forest of Mir and encounter a lot of undead. Anomen and Keldorn (via helm of brilliance) opened with Sunray, even so the battle got a bit chaotic. Anomen got feared and brought the skeletons inside the temple into the fight when still fighting the wraith. This killed Nalia, but not chunked. You can see the battle at that point here:

With the help of Jaheria's deva and Storm of Vegeance from Anomen, the battle was won.
Next we headed to Yaga's temple. In my previous runs I have a lot of chunked characters here. So I made sure to have a lot of summons with me. This time went much smoother.
Next for the fun battle just inside Yaga's Temple.

We used 2x horrid wiltings annd an emotion and altogether helped quite a bit. We kept at it and eventually got the upper hand:

The second level of Yaga's temple was a potentially hard fight. We used 2x horrid wiltings and storm of vengeance and magic missiles. We had to use rod of resurrections too, but won. We even got 3 levels from it!

Rest of the temple was pretty uneventful (other than Keldorn getting ability to summon a deva, and Anomen getting a ring from his god). We got the hearts, rested and went back to the forest to sell our junk to get ready to talk to Nyalee.

So Yeroc and gang go see Nyalee. She isn't immediately hostile, so Yeroc lays down LOTS of presents (read: traps) for her:

This was very effective. Nyalee went down immediately, was much easier to take down those shambling mounds.
Next was the battle with Yaga-shura himself. We got got lots of summons, then charged inward. Then when we saw him we hit him with everything we could (storm of vengeance, comets, horrid wiltings, etc.). The battle was a bit chaotic:

After Yaga we head to the Oasis. That battle was won easily. We then wennt to Amthrekan. We did the quests there, except for the lich quest. We then headed for Sendai's lair. We defeated all of Sendai's minions without a problem. Gigamech (the greater earth elemental) was taken down by a planetar and hasted mordaken's swords.
As for Sendai herself: thanks in part to Keldorn's true sight and dispel magic, and to the planetar with globe of blades running dealing with the drow adds, Sendai's statues were defeated:

As for Sendai herself she kept escaping with her Onyx ring. However, sort out of desperation, Yeroc laid down a spike trap hoping Sendai would "onyx" near it and set it off and she did! It was fatal for her:

Next was the LONG (15 min. I think) and hard battle with Draconis. We threw absolutely everything at him. We finally won, but not without extreme cost: Keldorn was chunked:

The rest of Abizigails was simple enough. Sentinels are a joke when a person has the cloak of mirroring. Sarevok soloed that area (Sarevok was Keldorn's replacement).
As for Abizigail himself. Again threw everything we had at him. We did finally win, but not without a high cost - Jaheira was chunked - Mazzy replaced her:

We decided to take Saemon Havarian's assistance to get into Belthazar's fortress. With 4 people protected by chaotic commands and 5 good summons, Belthazar went down with the first attempt.
The 2nd challenge was pretty easy with Horrid wiltings and a planetar assisting. The 3rd challenge was Yeroc running around while the rest of the party beat on the slayer. The 4th challenge was beat pretty easily by laying down a bunch of spike traps.
Ravager himself was interesting. We had 5 good summons, and the battle went for quite a while, but after lowering his magic resist, bolt of glories and comets were quite helpful to beat Ravager down. Did this our first attempt.
As for Melissan herself: I tried this battle many times, but the party could not defeat her, not even close. You can see the results of one of the failed attempts:

Yeroc will concede defeat to Melissan. Here are Yeroc's final party stats:
Sarevok: Level 20 fighter, -6 AC, 165 HP
Mazzy: level 18 fighter, -10 AC, 128 HP
Anomen: Level 7 fighter > Level 30 cleric, -9 AC, 131 HP
Yeroc: level 9 fighter > level 31 thief, -2 AC, 139 HP
Nalia: level 4 thief > level 23 mage, -5 AC, 82 HP
Imoen: level 7 thief > level 21 mage, -4 AC, 77 HP

In unmodded BG2, beholder death rays ignore death ward, even magic resistance and spell turning... there's no defense except save vs death < zero.corey_russell wrote...

I've found a planetar works well to keep the Slayer Shadows at bay (their claws are only +2 weapons, and they cannot hurt a planetar at all).
My last hardcore game ended when Yaga Shura failed to show up, which is weird because he isn't even spawned by the area script... he should always be on the map. I'm thinking of starting another run, but no more fighter/mages... been done to death and they're boringly overpowered at high levels.

Thanks for the info on the beholder death rays and advice. By the point in the screenshot, had already used my planetars, and don't have wish memorized so can't rest either. That was the 3rd time I had to engage Melissan, so the planetars had already been used up.polytope wrote...

Watcher's Keep 2nd level is
first Air,
then Poison,
then Ice with both Poison doors open and Air fan on high
then close poison doors or lower fan setting
then lure all 4 fire elementals into Ice chamber
and then kill Fire Giant.
At that points you have to kill chromatic demon with a lot of summons - particularly planetars, devas, etc., and a good deal of patience. The rest of WK is not easy, but at the end you'll have a lot of XP points and +5 weapons.
