Is there any reward in playing the game as an "evil" character or the differences are so minimal that it's better to just play neutral/good?

The reward is that you get to play the character as you please, and get the dialogue and occassionally items and other events you would not get playing as a good character. The same goes for playing good.

You get more money and loot. The last battle is also a bit easier.

And if you choose to be..morally ambiguous...Then there may be rewards for that as well..play and find out if you choose.

You usually get more out of things than playing Good.
Like the bandits right in the beginning. A Good character will sent them on their way. A Evil character would have gotten 150 Silvers and all their equipment.

Well it's demanding a reward that gets you the extra loot and money. Being evil just makes you... evil.

Sometimes.
Sometimes it works out differently though, Like the guy in dust town who wants you to smuggle for him. If you go criminal, you have to go through whatever task he sends you on.
If you say your going to turn him in, he attacks you, goes down hard, and you pocket the 20 gold on his corpse.

I'm assuming you mean the Golems...No they actually made the last battle harder for me because none of them had the sense to actually fight the Archdemon..all 4 of them were just killing off the Darkspawn mobs...Even the Redcliff soldiers are more help..mages, or Werewolves too.

There is no such thing as morality in Dragon Age. Just decisions and consquences because of those actions or lack of action. I think it depends on your audience as to whether those actions or lack of action are percieved as "good" or "evil." Loghain and even Morrigan is proof of this dichotomy.

Good and evil are a point of view, nothing more..so in that context..there is still good and evil.
