If "101" shows up in the model list, then you set it up right. One thing I've encountered is that models with mixed-case file names (ie ModelName) don't render at all in the toolset when packaged in a HAK. They'll work fine in override and they'll work fine in game, but won't render in the toolset. So try making the file names (models and textures) all lowercase, if they are not already lowercase, and see if it makes any difference for you. I don't know why this causes problems on my PC but it does.

Also, the preview pane doesn't work with armor items. Equip the item on a creature and see if it shows up then.

Nope, I even changed it to 103 because that wasnt there before and it showed up afterwards, it just shows as a normal nwn2 cloak in game, on an npc and when picked up and equipped.

idk if it matters but the tint is set to 255,255,255

Jeez..... nothing's ever easy..

 
Update:

Alright.. technically I got it in the toolset and in-game. But the only way I could make it appear was using the appearance wizard on a npc and switching the cloak variation to 102, (which is strange because I set it to 103)

I tried using the variation tab on the item, both 103 and 102, even 101, and the model part 102 on each tab, and it still isnt working for the player, or when you equip an npc with the actual cloak item.

-There's still no .2da change because I was told I didn't need one..

That's correct, you don't need to touch the 2das. You just have to make sure the slot you use is available (not used by something else). So pick an unused model number. Do you have anything in your toolset above the 100 number range in the models list?

I think some of the problem is that you may be trying to see what the item looks like using the "preview" pane. That just doesn't work in NWN2 for armor items. Instead, scroll over to the Armor Set tab and in there, select the cloak item you want to view. You will have to check the box there next to cloak, IIRC, for it to register.

If you see it in the Armor Set view, then your model is there and working correctly. I'm going off memory here, so forgive me if wrong, but I'm pretty sure that tab is there for armor items.

p.s. I'd be happy to test what you've got if you plan on publishing it.

Lol...you know what it was, the armor set tab was completely hidden off my screen, thats why it worked on appearance wizard because its essentially the same thing.  -Of course it was going to be something stupid like that...

Well thanks a lot, now I have the ability to crank out custom items at full speed, in-game screenshot will soon follow.

UGh is there any difference between doing cloaks and helmets because the helmet variation number isnt even showing up in the armor set..

Are you not supposed to select everything when you export?

Tried doing cloth and fp, both arent working, I dont know if theres something special I have to do with the collision or not either...

Might be something wrong with the helmet model... the override is just invisible with the makeshift hair cards... Whats your email to send it to cipher?

Update:  Thank god..... fixed it, something was wrong with the geometry I guess.

-May or may not get an LoD in for the cloak, it was being buggy, but helm has 2 (3 including original)-

The mask (helmet) and cloak are separate items. Unless what you're asking for is a hood of that texture/color without the mask, the OP is already doing it.

Pardon me if this has been asked already (though I didn't see it in my skim-through), but is this going to be tintable or is it a preset color?



Either way, I'd certainly like to be able to grab it just like all these other drooling people. :)

Oh man - that's fab!

As everyone else has said - tintable would make it even better.

And if it helps encourage you at all - once its uploaded, I'll definitely be using it in a desert adventure that's going to be my next NWN2 project.
