Salarians as far as I can tell are out, the importance and low number of females means unlikely female LI but Salarians as a whole lack a sex drive so no male LI either. (Unless bioware had the time and resources to make a forbidden love thing, Salarians are absolutely commited to reproduction contracts after all)
A Turian LI would be interesting. A stubborn woman with Turian values would not only give better insight into the Turians, but it would all be worth it just to finally see a female Turian. (or Bioware could pleasantly surprise us and give us a homosexual Turian. Not sure if Turians have that sort of thing though)

Conrad Verner (Female) - He's married.
His wife "paid for [his] ticket off-world", I don't think she'd mind much. And I bet he'd be romanceable for male and female Shepards, given how obsessive his hero worship is, though the stalkerish vibe would be a bit of a turn-off...

I agree, Garrus even says that he's not a good turian, that's probably why he's so willing to be a LI with Shepard. I want a "good" turian. If there's a female Turian, I want her to laugh in Shepard's face when he suggests something, not be like "yeah, sure, my anatomy is completely different but we'll make it work" the way Garrus is. Only as she gets to see Shepard doing increasingly badass acts against the Reapers would she respect Shepard enough to be a LI.

Male and Female Interests
Kelly Chambers - If you romanced Kelly, you should be rewarded as such in Mass Effect 3. One freeeaky secretary who's actually really sweet.
Samara - If you tried to romance her in Mass Effect 2, and you are Paragon you should be able to get another shot at her. No one can resist Shepard's charm. No one.
Kasumi -Variety is the spice of life. People were pining for her to be a romantic option. And if you made her loyal along with destroying the graybox, she could be yours since she's hopefully let go of Keiji.
Shiala - Another popular demand. Shiala reacts well to both male and female Shepards. If you saved Feros and are Paragon this choice should stand out.
I appreciate the thought you put into this list, but I think there's a double standard here. This portion of the list implies that it's acceptable for female Shepard to seek female companionship. The lack of a male option here is telling.

I'm hoping Mr. Big Ben would be bisexual. Since there's apparently no gay/bisexual men in space, maybe they're just all on earth:?

That was all I could think of. I was using characters I already knew of. For an M/M relationship, you'd probably need a new character altogether since not much else would match up.

Kaidan's generally well-received as a maleshep LI and it appears he was originally meant to be that way. Same with Ash. I've heard some about Thane (which quite frankly actually makes more sense than a FemShep romance with him). I'm pulling for Big Ben in the future. Maybe Joker?

Garrus was fanfare nothing more. There shouldn't be anymore Turian/human relationships.... its just nasty.Nashiktal wrote...
Well considering we have a total of five human love interests total,( six counting Kelly) I would say more alien LI for variety's sake.

Why does Thane make more sense as a LI for Maleshep? As far as I can tell nothing in ME2 indicates that he enjoys the human male form.
I vote for more interesting human male LIs. Kaiden was pretty to look at but too vanilla. Jacob was also pretty to look at but also a bit of a snoozefest (and creepy!). I thought Zaeed was a better option than either of them, but alas, twas not meant to be...

No, but remember male is a different gender than female, as in the sex of his dead wife, of which he remembers every last second. In Thane's mind with DemShip, he's always seeing his wife, since they're both female. She would be filling the void of his dead wife, and not beng her own figure. At least one could argue that. Speingboarding off of that, he would perceive MaleShep differently, so he wouldn't be replacing a hole in his heart with a similar image, but rather opening to him. Thats how I see it anyways. Its been observed IRL, so that definitely supports the theory.
Then again I never manced him, but rather just saw every possible interaction unfold.

Huh, that's an interesting take on it. I personally never felt all that comfortable with the Thane romance due to the fact that it seemed like he was still grieving for his dead wife.

This thread is about what type of new love interests you want, not old love interest playing for both sides or characters from mass effect 1 and 2 becoming love interest, stay on topic please
By characters from ME 1 or 2, do you mean squadmates or characters in general? If just squadmates, I'd love to see Gavorn as a possible M/M option (even as just an NPC). I want a M/M LI period, though I have serious doubts about it happening. Along with many of the above posters, I'd also like a female turian LI. Turians, across the board, are just a very interesting species and one I'd like to see explored further (read that however you like
My fingers are crossed. I'm hoping Bioware will surprise me, one way or another.

This is just my feelings on this and so take it as that.
I'm fine with a MM relationship, I like the idea of a diverse group of crew members. But I really want a new character not one of the LI from the previous two games who suddenly in the last game decide to be bi-sexual.
If Kaidan or Ash had been interested in both Fem Shepard and Male Shepard from the beginning, (like Sky and Silk Fox in JE) it would have been ok and one of my male Shepards would have romanced him.
But it messes up the feeling of the game for me, to suddenly have a character I've grown to know over the two games decide he/she is now interested in same sex Shepard - it's just sort of jarring.
I would love to see a MM and a real FF romance, (for me Liara does not count - She is an alien not human) Just give me a new LI don't change one of the current ones. Someone mentioned Nathan Fillion as the voice, I'd definitely be interested in that, or the guy in the tower, just someone new.
edit - I put in paragraphs.

That's biowares' logic not his. Femshep can **** Liara all day but Kaiden and Maleshep can't. And they've (bioware) even tried to say "lol asari aren't female they just look, dress, sound and act like them"

A Kasumi romance would be awesome.
Kasumi's dramatic sense is based on a lost love, so making her an LI would ruin this scenario.
Btw, the first thing came to my mind...
So, looking at the trailer, I want Big Ben. Just look the size of that thing! And the holes! Not to mention the clock! It wouldn't be weird, just look at the hips!

Well, even if you exclude the Asari from his list he includes two human women.
I do appreciate that he explained his thinking on it.
As for the characters suddenly "turning gay," I'd be more ok with it for certain characters than others. Kaidan was originally planned to be bi, or so I've been led to believe. Jacob, on the other hand, might not make much sense.

Umm...I don't really know what I would want from new characters. It seems that there wouldn't be enough time to actually feel comfortable with a brand new character. All of the people I've romanced (Tali, Ashley, and Liara) are people that I've had with me since the first game and I feel really close to. Well as close as you can feel with video game characters lol
I hope that they have better male romance options because Miranda and Jack didn't really cut it out for me. I also wouldn't mind a gay LI
