Please, please no. The SR-2 is one of the most hardcore ships in the galaxy, why would you trade it in? Oh and going the route o f"oh gosh we had it blown up, here's another new one we were building secretly" would irritate me so incredibly much.

For some reason people think that everything in ME3 should come in 3's. 3 discs, third ship, and so on...

Destroying the SR2 and bringing in a third ship would just be trite. Best of just keeping the one we've got, and just allowing us to get rid of those Cerberus decals.

This!!!!

Extra this.

Why should Normandy SR2 be destroyed for Sheppard to a get a new ship? Ever heard of transfer?

The crew transfers to a dreadnaught, and another crew takes over Normandy.

That would be like captain Kirk leaving the Enterprise for some other random ship.<_<

The larger the ship is going to be, the slower and less nimble it will become.

Well not to sound like a ***** and i know its just a game but theres no friction in space and the size and mass of the ship really does not effect speed (at all) or manuverability much.

The more mass, the more energy need to move it.

More like Kirk transferring from Enterprise-A to Enterprise-D.
Besides, it's not the name of the ship that's important.

Max speed, yes.
Acceleration..smaller ship will have an edge there in terms of efficiency. Max acceleration is restricted to what a human body can take. Something like 5-9G.
Turning...the bigger (longer) the ship, the slower it has to turn, since the forces at the extreeme ends scale up the longer the ship is.

Ok, true. But we already did the whole "Oh look at your shiny new ship" scenario. Theres no need for a "Your ship is too small, heres a bigger one." Not that a bigger ship will help.

The SR2 was designed to accomodate the new crew and their dialogue/plot elements. It really depends on how they treat the ME3 crew. Also, the SR2 is a Cerberus vessel. Shepard's relationship with Cerberus was on shaky ground.

And...a 3 testicled Krogan crew member! He lost his 4th one tripping over a rock on Tuchanka.

My speculation as to what happens to the SR2 is that the Alliance gets their hands on it and perform some major upgrades and refits.

Thats whats going to happen, and I bet my 3rd testicle on it.

I agree.

I think the Alliance will take Shepard back. But, I only have 2 testicles which I'm saving for a rainy day. So, you'll have to take my word on it. :o

Keep SR2, with upgrades, and allow us to choose our own color scheme

Wild prediction based on nothing:

Shepard joins the Alliance (confirmed actually) and is kind enough to give The Illusive Man his ship back (there are holes in it anyway). However, the Alliance and the turians are given the blueprints of the SR-2 and collaborate on a new Normandy.

Also, it's very well possible that ME3 takes place a couple of years after Mass Effect 2 and it would make sense that they've upgraded the technology of these ships.

For those concerned that the SR2 may need to take on Reapers: that's what additional upgrades are for.

Normandy has no chances against Reaper in fair fight, and no upgrades can help with it. Both Normandies was developed as sneaking and landing ships, not battle ships. So number after SR depends on what Bioware wants to show in ME3.

Do you guys thing the SR2 is tough enough to combat the Reapers? I mean if the Normandy will be the flagship of the Galactic Fleet, it has to be bigger and more bad ass. Do you guys agree?

Even though Normandy is a small ship,it is considered as one of the best ships in the galaxy.Small, agile, stealth ship that combined turian and human technology! Normandy SR2 is based on the first Normandy with few upgrades.
So I think that Normandy deserves to be flagship of Galactic Fleet .
Oh yeah, the design is just awesome!

This topic has been brought up so many damn times! But why the hell not. I think its going to be the same normandy, hopfully there will be a mission where you need to go outside the airlock and walk the hull of the ship and rip off the cerberus decals and give it a new paint job! But i think its going to be more upgrades like they had us do through out the game. I hope that the **** its self will be a little more interactive, let me sit down at my desk or lay on my bed! also i would like to see memebers of the ship like the non squadmates walking about the ship and not standing in the same damn spot like their manicans! (Same on all the visiting worlds, please bring back moving animated civilians.) Some sort of mini game on the ship would be amazing, the ability to ask EDI what the ships status is from your cabin would be amazing and get like a layout of the engine put out and all other systems. Also you could ask her to page a squadmate to come up to your cabin. Things like this make the game seem very real feeling. I would love to see some like actual ship command interface in ME3. Like coming across pirates taking over a merchiant ship and you can go to a gunners station and shoot the pirates ship yourself using an aray of the normandy's weapons. Or assign a crew to "man the guns" and give him an order as to either disable the ship, fire a warning shot, or blow it from the sky. As well as what weapons to use to do so and so forth!

I don't think he would give back the ship to Cerberus. Joker would not like it.

Not Needed I do believe that The series will end with Sheppard on some massive ship though but no need for a whole New Normandy.

The SR-2 needs an entertainment room. A Jacuzzi here or there, a pool, a club, a fast food restaurant and massive vid screens to watch anything/play games. Saving the galaxy is tough business. Shep needs downtime.
