Shepard will definitely have more than one ship. One frigate like Normandy SR2 for stealth/commando missions, and one capital ship as flagship of the final battle.

For the flagship, I imagine a Geth/Quarian co-built battlecruiser would be nice (they are the best builders/mechanics of the galaxy - imagine what they would accomplish together), mounted with Turian reverse engineered magnetic hydrodynamic cannons (like Thanix Cannon but of much larger scale, comparable with Reapers), Asari built mass effect field generators, Salarian biological/chemical weapon agents, and Geth electronic warfare systems.

Well maybe you have it upgraded (not the upgrades you do on the Normandy, but more of a mission/cutscene, like how you got the sr2) , removing the Cerb symbols and all as well as making it better, more efficient for the final battles, and of course this would be the excuse to change the interior and tech for the new game.

No the Normandy should stay a fast, stealth ship as this is part of the beauty and gimmic of the Normandy, its not the biggest or most powerful out there, its about making use of what the Normandy's capabilities are and it's crew

there is one problem i see in reusing the SR-2 is the Cerberus spy cameras on it though i guess that wouldn't be a problem for those that stayed with them but the people that didn't may have a problem with it. perhaps that will determine the SR-2 or SR-3. at least that would be cool

Dont forget though EDI became unshackeled and can do as you ask her now to.  So, she could jam all of the systems used to spy on you that TIM had installed and even help you remove them while repairs go underway to fix the SR-2.

Normandy needed repairs after 2 so we’ll most likely get an upgraded Normandy in the trailer shep is in Samara’s room so I guess the observation decks are still present :( really wanted to switch those out for more military style rooms.

I wouldn't doubt there will be an SR3. What about new squad mates? There's no more space for squad mates to stay on the SR2, except maybe the Core room or the bathroom, but I don't want to have to talk to people in the girl's bathroom. So, either there's only going to be at most a couple more squad mates, or they make a new Normandy to accommadate the new cast of members. Or at least a major upgrade to the existing Normandy.

Though edi is the ship now does she know  where TIM put probes in her body.

just my personal opinion if you put  a traking device in your dog does it know where you put it.

of course mordin could find  those in the lab perhaps  he could help.

i dont know im just kind of spit balling here

Well
not to sound like a ***** and i know its just a game but theres no
friction in space and the size and mass of the ship really does not
effect speed (at all) or manuverability much. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/whistling.png[/smilie]

Max speed, yes.
Acceleration..smaller ship will have an edge there in terms of efficiency. Max acceleration is restricted to what a human body can take. Something like 5-9G.
Turning...the bigger (longer) the ship, the slower it has to turn, since the forces at the extreeme ends scale up the longer the ship is.

As much as i hate his idea if memory serves Joker in ME1 Says something to the effect of "The ship just made a turn that would sheer any other ship in half" Reaper Tech is scary stuff.

Ok, true. But we already did the whole "Oh look at your shiny new ship" scenario. Theres no need for a "Your ship is too small, heres a bigger one." Not that a bigger ship will help.

Actually, given that reapers themselves are essentialyl starships...yes, a bigger ship will help. Big guns. You need big guns.

EDIT: I want to see a human DN. Doesn't shep's mon command one?

Spacer Sheps Mom commands a DN.  Colonist Sheps parents killed by Batarian raiders and Earthborn never knew parents IIRC.

@ OP:
It'd be awesome to have a battlecruiser/carrier/dreadnought instead of a little ol' frigate that turns *plot device*. Maybe we can finally USE the ship we are commanding in orbit like- detail scanning*, FIRING*, sending marines as escort/support/reinforcements* (*- cost resources of course).
It's hard to feel like humanity's only hope and a 'commander' when all you command is 2 people tops.
Just sayin'

Do you guys think SR2 will be destroyed or scrapped and Shepard and company will get a brand new ship. Maybe they could get a big ship like the Destiny Ascension to take out the Reapers? Or possibly SR2 with a retrofit with exterior and interior upgrades along with weapon upgrades etc.?

I think there might be a new ship but the SR2 will not be destroyed, Illusive man or Alliance will just call Shepard and say: that's our best ship.
S- :o, is really a monster.
-it's yours now.
SR2 will just be resting, it would be stupid to destroy another ship

EDI collates all the records from shipboard monitoring devices, in other words EDI is connected to those devices, your dog does not have the intelligence or concept to understand the device.

On the subject, I think we will see the return of SR2, it's my opinion SR1 was destroyed not because of the story, but to create an opening for a much larger ship with more features and space, if I could mod it though, I'd dump the loading screen elevator in favor of the old one.

While I think Shepard needs a much bigger ship for the final climatic confrontation with the Last Reaper - Harbinger - I doubt that ME devs have the guts or vision to do that unfortunately. And as to how it could come about - thats rather easy.

Liara: "Shepard, I just got this message from this planet not on Council starcharts. It tells me that the ship I ordered is ready for pick up."

Shepard: "You ordered a ship?"

Liara" No the old Shadow Broker did and it appears to be have been done years ago. Can you go and get the ship for me please."

Quite easy to do and does not involve a stretch to include since its been done before.

I don't want to part with the SR2.

I doubt Joker'd like to part with the leather seats either.

And I want to keep the cerberus paintjob. They suck as humanitarians, but damn do they have a keen aesthetic sense...

And I also kind of want to make Cerberus the human version of the Salarian Special Tasks Group.

What I don't like in first two Normandies is that they didn't cost me any efforts.
"It's difficult to fly without ship, take this!"
Looks like everyone's dream is just give me another damn ship. I want to fight for my ship, so it really could be called mine ship. (heh, maybe someone of your understand what I mean)
Bioware tried to make it more alive and connected with Shepard in second part, but there is still  a lot of space for progress, and I hope they'll use it.

I for one hope they don't get a new ship. The SR2 is just fine the way it is, maybe a few more upgrades wouldn't hurt

I really doubt Harbinger is going to be the last reaper or somehow be the leader of the reapers. He was just the one connected to the Collectors. I don't think there is actually a leader of the reapers as they are "each a nation" according to Sovereign. Does that leave ground for rebellion among the reapers?

Maybe the Reapers outside the Milky Way Galaxy are one  of many nations that is in charged of purging the Milky Way Galaxy. The next Mass Effect Trilogy will focus on another galaxy (Andromeda) that is controlled by another sect of Reapers.

That ship seems specifically designed to functon in the environment it's operating in and isn't a warship as far as I can tell but rather a giant communications array which enables the SB to coordinate operations. Is it capable of interplanetary travel? Probably. Would I want to take it up against a Reaper? No!

Shepard should also go down with the ship in a blaze of glory and be brought back to life later by some powerful organization.

Modular parts and paint job for the SR-2!, kind of like ME2 armor!
