I'm going to get straight to the point. I preffered the Mako by miles, even the terrain was bearable. The only things that really could have been worked on were the boosters, physics, and the anomilies. As for the terrain it actually made the place feel like a desolate world which earns the Mako major kudos.
Point is I don't care what I get in ME3 either a Mako, a hovercraft or any combination thereof, as long as its not the god forsaken HH, plays more like the Mako, and as long as it has a proper HUD. If those three conditions are met I will be a happy camper. Seriously minimilist HUDs are absolutely terrible for vehicles, give me whatever visual/audio cues you like as long as it is also displayed on a properHUD I won't complain.
How do you feel about the Mako vs the Hammerhead?

Reasonable request, but so would be request as not make driving vehicles so much combat related. There are other aspect what can also be explored. Like example, drive to one point to other faster enough before run out of time, where the driving "skill" become more important aspect. Also vehicles could have some other tools than just combat ones, like tools to search something. Also vehicles could be used transport something from one point to others. My point here is there are other possibilities how to use vehicles, what can make gameplay more varient.adam_grif wrote...
People haven't been saying that the HH needs a combat focus or should abandon exploration and platforming, they are saying that since the game DOES throw us into combat, we need better guns and enhanced durability, because the combat parts of the HH missions are terrible.

Everything that made the Mako what it was + Hammerhead's hover feature = Huge success.
A part of this formula includes the vast and beautiful levels that came with the Mako, no more of that N7 20 square feet bullshi*.

Mako hands down.
The hammerhead is a piece of garbage. No offense.

If it came down to a one on one fight between the Mako and the HammerHead, HH would own the Mako simply due to it's manueverability.
Funny. The Hammerhead could be destroyed easily by a single geth trooper who barely mooves at all.

I just finished playing ME1 and 2 back to back on PC and noticed something that could explain at least some of the Mako/Hammerhead "hate".
When I first played ME I had much lower spec PC than now. I remember I liked exploring the planets with Mako most of the time, but sometimes it felt unresponsive and so tiring.
On my recent play thorough I found Mako very easy to handle, even better than I recalled and then I came to think that my new PC is able to keep frame rate stable even when there are enemies to fight .
So I think some of Mako hate (I recall those topics from old forums) might be because lower spec computers weren't able to keep stable frame rate and because driving model for Mako is very responsive unstable frame rates could have made controlling quite frustrating. Maybe driving mode weren't optimized very well for PC or something, I can't know.
Hammerhead feels very fast and very responsive too to the point where uh... driving it feels like playing arcade game. Mako physic model was imho better.
Hammerhead however allowed using different level designs. Just imagine trying to make jumps on rocks floating on lava with Mako...
I prefer Mako over Hammerhead but only slightly and on ME3 it would be great if we had levels for both, though I don't think that's going to happen.
Heh, overall it's kinda interesting how devs tried to fix everything people complained about Mako with Hammerhead and now there are people complaining about Hammerhead. Different platforms, different playing styles... damned if you do, damned if you don't.

The ironic thing is that the landscapes that gave me a problem in the Mako would've been no problem in the Hammerhead, but we only got specifically designed platformer levels for it.
I'd love to see a vehicle that has the Mako's HUD, durability, and turret and the Hammerhead's jumping, hovering and speed boosts. Perfect vehicle. Maybe throw in the HH's homing missiles, too...
I also like being able to get out of my tank wherever I want.

It handled better, but that's about it. Thought I was playing F-zero with the HammerHead...
