The Mako, on the other hand, just reeks of utter crap. I never want to see it again unless it turns into a Transformer, in which the bulky design of the thing will have at least made some sense.

"What about combat capabilities?"
"All simulations have been positive. The offensive systems are state of the art."
"It's offensive alright." He reached back and grabbed the weapon on his back. The yellow symbol on the side made Jacob's eyes widen.
"Wait. You can't fire that in here!"
Genius..pure and unadultered genius:lol:

Nope,
I did miss finding the cannon on the Mako my first couple of times
through the game. It takes quite a bit to kill a thresher maw with just
the machine gun.
Nobody tells me anything!
And people complain about the Mako...
But maybe it's we, the Hammerhead haters have fallen in the same pit? Somebody tell me already if the Hammerhead has zoom, cannon, rotating turret! Anyone?

Considering Mako and Hammerhead require different level design, thats not really an option.colossus50000 wrote...

I hate undocumented features. But hey, maybe there's a "Make the hammerhead better" button, on select or the d-pad or something when you're flying it. Someone should try it just to make sure.

Thats why devs dont bother with paper manuals these days - no one reads those.adam_grif wrote...
I discovered the mako cannon during my second playthrough, lol.

Many people had problems discovering the cannon zoom despite using the de-facto standard zoom button.

Hammerhead felt like Sonic & Knuckles Effect or some other platforming... thing. Definitely not a bad thing... but not Mass Effect... ish.

Also, agreed.
The hammerhead combat is really, really, REALLY underwhelming. Just keeping the fire button pressed from a save distance, behind cover, until everything is dead is not fun at all. And since there is not the least ammount of challenge I feel like I am wasting life time. The movement however is quite fun...until you hit an invisible wall.
Also not beeing able to leave the vehicle when I want is frustrating.
I remember in ME1 there was a situation where the MEKO was almost destroyed and I barely made it behind a hill. Since I did not want to risk destruction of the MAKO, I just got out and sniped the enemy position behind cover. It was a good fight. Freedome and immersion. Yes, please.

Wait...some people did not know the MAKO has a zoom feature and a kick ass cannon? Well, that explains a lot of the hate.
Guess BioWare listened to exactly these fans... And cooked up a vehicle that indeed doesn't have nothing, lol!
Alrighty, another small exercise in wishful thinking. What the Mako needed:
1. Tutorial level. According to the Codex it was a new vehicle to be supplied to the Alliance Marines (Akuze aftermath, *ding-dong*), and it would be totally in-story for Shepard to get a course.
2. Longer thruster burns.
3. Turret orientation indicator, to make it possible to drive while zooming on target.
4. The Driver character. Nothing special, just a Joe Smith kind of guy, like the Intendant guy, with some lines to animate the driving process. Although Garrus would have to find some new place to rummage on the Normandy.
5. Possibility to pimp it out a little, akin to Shepard's armor (and squamates' armor, damnit!!!).
What the planets needed:
1. Better minimap, (and a sub-course to learn how to read it during the Mako tutorial level, with the stress on rough terrain navigation.)
2. More outer bunker/mine designs and indoors configurations.
3. Water, fog, etc.
4. More doodads, like that skull on Maji. Plants where appropriate. Broken equipment. More fauna (possibly with little scripts, like feral varren chasing the shifty-looking cow, etc). Some of these could be shared with the hub world, of course. But most planets could still be left desolate rocky wastelands. Because it's space!
5. Physics: no sound effects (only squad chatter and music) on airless planets, better thruster efficiency on low gravity planets.
Plus a few achievements for driving, mountain climbing and vehicular combat.

If we add: More flat spaces in level design, that should be about perfect.

The HH is fast. It can do 360 turns in a second. Its speed allows it to be used offensively which is much more fun than hiding and shooting missles from a distance. Ram full speed into your enemies while firing missles continuously. When ramming you take no damage while the enemy takes a lot. Turrets can be destroyed by a single ram.
You need to plan ahead the path you will take and try to hit as many enemies as possible on your run. When all footsoilders are immobile continuously ram into the bigger units until they die. Units that are getting rammed will not be able to fight back.
I play this way on insanity and always manage. Its a hell of a lot more fun and faster paced than the MAKO.

Its a shame NO ONE seems to know how to use the HH. I almost feel compelled to put up a video to demonstrate.
