It worked this way with Tali, Miranda (you romace HER! loved it), Jackeline and kelly. No idea what the OP is talking about. I said I didn't want to have something with Jack and she greets me with a casual "what's up?" when I talk with her. Maybe you screwed up?

Agreed, I just want to hug Jack and tell her I'm there for her without having to coerce her into a relationship.
I'd also like for Thane to have a fleshed out character when my Shepard isn't female.

So yeah, I'd appreciate it. Looking forward to ME3 if BioWare decides to listen. (Really, the characters are this game's strength, not the cliché sci-fi plot. So I genuinely wish for the devs to put even more effort into properly realizing them.)

Couldn't have said it any better.

I wish I could hug Jack and tell her everything is going to be alright without having to romance her. I wish Thane would be a little more honest and fleshed out with my male Shepard as he is with my female Shepard. I wish I could promise Tali a homeworld without having to ditch Ashley.

So many wishes, but guess what, BioWare? You can do it! Because you've already done it a lot before. ;)

I definitely support this idea. We need to be able to be good friends with our team-mates. I romanced Liara, however that doesn't mean i cant be best friends with Miranda or Ashley.

The problem with ME2 was that unless you romanced a character that characters had very few dialogues, so for me who stayed loyal to my ME1 LI, it meant very few dialogues. I really support friendship options. Learn from Dragon Age, the character interaction there was great.

A lot of people have brought this up before, but now that Mass Effect 3 has officially been announced I'd like to try and drive it home one more time.

Let us just be friends with our female crewmates! If I don't want to romance you, don't make me! I'm tired of Jack only saying "**** off!" because I'd prefer to stay with Liara.

Please, please Bioware! Lets just be friends!!!

(P.S. This also goes for femsheps, whom I'm sure have had the same problem.)

I agree completely. I like being nice to the crew but it doesn't necessarily mean i want to romance them.

Could not possibly agree more.

I really hate not being able to just be friends with male squad mates. I spend more time with Mordin than anyone else cos he ISN'T interested!

I'm not so sure, i like the calibration-line. Also the "I'm not big at forcing these talks"-line is great, makes my Shep feel desperate, i like that. Oh, and when Miranda says "Uh, there's a lot to do..." i feel like Micheal Scott harassing and boring some employee to hell and back... this gives me a fuzzy feeling.

Nah, just kidding, i support that too...

I've always been more fond of friendships than romances. Wrex was the best buddy you could ever have in ME1, and then he gets replaced with.. with.. uh.. Well, he doesn't really get replaced at all, actually. Just shoved aside. No main character is complete without his war-buddy. Just look and Crichton and D'Argo in Farscape. In Planescape: Torment it was Morte. In Baldur's Gate it was Minsc.

Agreed. I like the friendships in ME better anyway. I want more bromance and sismance. I tell you the awesomeness of the brofist I will give Wrex in ME3 will wipe out those sillly little reapers.

I don't seem to have this problem, because I say **** off to every squad member than try to romance with my character. Because I have more important things to do with my character that play house, while hole galaxy will be exterminate from all life.

The [verging on] bromance with Wrex was awesome with either gender, and watching Grunt grow up brought out my non-existent maternal side. So yes, I support a good friendship or two in ME3.

I could do without romances completely, if it gave me meaningful friendships instead.

Friends ftw.

OP. Thank you.

I know my Shep is a studly dude. But Jesus H. Christ, Brad Pitt couldn't get this much action.

In ME 1, I considered Tali my Shep's little sister. In ME 2 I was happy when she joined my crew. That happiness went to hell when Kelly told Shep that Tali was into him. I hate that I can't have more than two conversations with her without me hearing Marvin Gaye in the back my mind. And to make it worse, you can't let her down gently. The options are: I love you, I like you, Get away.

I so hope Bioware listens to the op.

I definately agree...this is in the best interest of the community, and helps build more immersion.

I think their should be a definitive moment at the halfway mark of the character arc in conversation, where the said person will ask you something. Not a direct question, but something "playful" in a subtle way. You either direct them toward the "Friendzone,"

OR

You lead them on, furthering your relationship. However, later on, you can still have the opportunity to turn them away. -----would be the best scenario for character relationships for the third game.

Yeah, platonic friendship can be good, too.
