I bought ME 1 (boxed version) when the game was launched, and so far I haven't finished my first playthrough yet. Bought ME 2 on Steam, downloaded the game, but I'll only play it after finishing the first one, which I decided to do right now.

Reinstalled the game and the expansion Bring Down The Sky, loaded my last saved game but all of a sudden I can't leave the mako. I read the manual, it says to press "Q" in order to do so.

But it doesn't work, no matter what.

I even restored the default keys, to no avail. But anyway, you can't customize (for any reason) the key to leave the mako -- either way (custom controls or not) it should be Q.

So, what now? Will I have to unistall and reinstall the game?

One helluva start...

Check the key mappings on the config. Might be different in game as to whats listed in tha manual.

You say the "masseffectconfig.xml"? If so, this file is a mess, I can't find the right line, could you please tell me what it is?

I'm certain it's been covered tens of thousands of times. Google is your friend. It's been so long now since I played it, but from the launcher, I'm pretty sure you go to a Configuration file, and any key binding you have changed in there for using weapons can be unbound.  It's the same key for Quitting the Mako. 

You shouldn't have to set those preferences using any editor of any kind.

It's A on my keyboard, but that's because I have an azerty board. It's the same key as holstering and drawing weapons.

It was something with the installation; I just uninstalled and reinstalled the game, now everything is fine.

Gorath, like I said, I had even restored to the default keys, to no avail. Thanks anyway.
