Imo it's already enough that canon Shep is displayed as the marine dude with the buzz cut...we don't need two characters like that in any squad.

No, I think he'll be the key contact for Shepard on earth as he rallies the other forces. He's probably a chief MI6 person who's found a way to contact the Normandy and send info while everything else is blocked and being destroyed.. that's my guess.

I dont think he will matter at all...I think he is only for the purpose of the Teaser there...as narrator and symbol for the wounded humanity.

im with you on that Xette, surely there not going to get Sean Bean (Borromir/Sharp/006) to simply voice a 1 minute trailer, its a total guess, but Sheperd probly goes on a recon mission to earth right at the start of the game, to get us attached to the plight of the planet and we rescue bigben sniper. all i can do is dream lol

It isn't impossible.............. Given that potentially Shepard may have killed 10-11(?) of available squad members in ME2......... Shepard might have a really tough time in 3 otherwise, or maybe TIM just says 5 minutes into ME3 ''Well Jeez Shepard, that was the best of the best, ya killed them, we're all scr*wed, so thanks....''! ;-)

Big Ben seems a bit like a legion analog...

What I mean is:

Legion was the only character in the ME2 teaser trailer --> Squad mate.
Big Ben is the only character in the ME3 teaser trailer --> Squad mate.

And we actually get to know Ben there a lot better than we got to know Legion.  Smart money is on him surviving that reaper Tentacle to the face in the trailer.



....Waaaait. There are actually 3 characters, Big Ben, and the random civilian woman and child. My theory predicts then that all three of them are squad mates.

I think it would be cool if, as one poster above put it, the narrative jumped back to the sniper every once in a while to show what's happening on Earth. They did that once or twice with Saren in ME1, and I think it enhances the story.
