Do you imagine it's very comfortable to do gay dialogues, animations, etc.
I mean imagine how awkward that would get
They're writers (or voice actors, etc); it's their job to write these things regardless of their personal feelings.
Do you imagine it's any more comfortable for a writer to write a genocidal maniac? A good writer can do such things with ease, regardless of their personal dispositions towards any particular subject matter.

Bioware has already talked about this at length (prior / after ME2 launch).... Bioware clearly has nothing against homosexual relationships (they occur in Dragon Age)... but they've said time and again that Shepard is still something of a pre-written character with certain characteristics / behavioral traits.
Shepard isn't "our" character to the extent our characters in Dragon Age are / were... he's more of an already pre-determined individual whom we (the player) just get to make certain choices about his actions, but not necessarily him/her as a person... this is why ME is a hybrid RPG, not a true RPG.
The writers opted that this character, Shepard, is / was heterosexual... the player doesn't get to choose this part of the Shepard's persona, because the writers felt it would alter their concept of who he/she is too drastically.
Whether you like it or not is irrelevant, the designers have already stated that Shepard would not have same-sex love interests.
Now if you go call Bioware anti-gay or whatever, then you're an idiot... go look at Dragon Age -- they weren't afraid / ashamed to allow same-sex relations in that game... so don't get on their backs about this.
For Shepard though, they opted to keep this pre-determined individual as heterosexual.
Perhaps you can look / hope to Bioware's future RPGs to find same-sex love interests, but clearly they've decided it isn't for Shep's trilogy.
It's less this and more time constraints. Same sex romances were originally planned for both games, but were cut for time.

Male Shepard = straight badass
I see what they did there. If you want to believe PR talk from Bioware..well it´s your choice.

My funniest playthrough was playing as Legion with femshep's voice. That was bizzarre.

Ditto. I would actually love it if the Big Ben sniper dude were to be an exclusively M/M LI. It would be quite interesting.

same arguements as the last 500 threads about it. People dont realize that its optional so they will scream NONONONo!
Maybe they are homophobes & they are afraid of people posting pics of their Shepard & their gay partner together.
One of things I always see is that people (mostly guys) are okay with female-on-female romance but dead against male-on-male romance.

Hell, even New Vegas had Gay characters and it sold 'MILLIONS'. Thus having a Gay character doesn't mean your game 'wont sell' or it 'will push away' Straight Gamers. ESPECIALLY when it's 'OPTIONAL'.
Bioware needs to do what's 'right' and stop catering to those that hate, fear, and generally deslike Gays and want to punish them at every turn that they would even suggest that Gay Gamers don't even 'deserve' atleast one Gay Only option.

I think that would be ideal. Do we really need any new LI's added to the game? I don't think so, but if any new LI's are added, this is the one I'd like to see as well.

The way I see it is like this.
Femshep = Straight or Bi but can't be 100% Gay since none of the 'Gay' choices are 'just Gay' but Bi because Bioware seems to think that Gays do it both ways.
Maleshep = Straight Badass that can't be Gay or Bi because Gay Men aren't 'awesome' even if making them Gay is optional.

I can understand that we're dealing with a character who has some pre-determined traits. But why is it acceptable for female Shepard to be bi/lesbian, but it's not acceptable for male Shepard to seek male companionship?
I imagine the answer to this question can be summed up in two words: target audience.

The ME Team has already proven that lesbians are ok, but gay are not with them. It's called a double standard and it annoys the crap out of me.

The difference between Gay males and Gay females is its extremely awesome to watch 2 lesbians go at it no matter who you are as opposed to watching 2 gay men go at it. THAT is why their will never truly be a gay only male LI in the ME/DA series.
(Iam not a hater, Iam just stating the obvious)
Why do I get the feeling that your idea of Lesbians comes from some fantasy girl-on-girl porn that is specifically made to cater to a male audience?
And for that matter, have you actually seen or know any REAL lesbians?
