(i wrote this in reply to another topic about good versus evil alignment/path choices, can't find that thread anymore so here goes)

i totally agree with OP. This has always been the case, KOTOR being the
notable exception. It's not the XP or any other wards, it's the plot that
not flows and follows. You are NOT being rewarded for being evil. Remember when you played testdrive, and it was possible to drive backwards accross the track? It is a bit like that. It's possible, but it won't be fun. I put down DA origins because out of sheer frustration with the plot. I felt i missed out on stuff, as, and that is another
severely annoying thing, if i choose a dialog option, i would loose the
frickin other choices!  Mass effect did not do that (well sometimes), and KOTOR NEVER did that. I like exploring all options. Anyway, i tried to
play this game as a evil elf woman who was a coldhearted ****, but the
plot made it impossible. Like OP said, i can understand the mission
objectives stay true, let only the gameplay and plot cater to both alignments. And even that you can easily solve, look at KOTOR. The first
i am talking about by the way.
But to be honest, this has always been the problem with Bioware parsing
engine for dialog. I would have expected since now that this has evolved, but it seems it is still stuck since Jade Empire or the NWN games. Once you go deep, apart from that there is only evil and good, no nuances, even if you choosed some inbetween choice it would still add those up to good or evil points. It just is not very deep or involved. And i find that a true shame. I wish they had put more in to that. RDR
has the same issue. It is impossible to play as an outlaw. There it's even worse, you won't even be able to interact with strangers anymore, let alone start a cool posse. The only games that did it right in my opinion were Fable (1) and KOTOR. Both were brilliant.
